I take it that you simply have a mask around the outside of the magnifying glass for this effect. It would be really cool if you could actually zoom a little (magnify) the image below. Actually, the magnifying glass is the combination of four masks : - the magnifying glass itself (with a 20% opacity black layer around it). - the magnifying glass shadow - the reflect on the glass (note that the reflect doesn't rotate when the magnifying glass does) - the second reflect on the glass (visible when the magnifying glass is above the picture but almost transparent when it comes closer) Those 4 objects have the same father object (PTE frame) to manage the pan but they have their own keypoints too.As far as I know, it's impossible to zoom (magnify) the image below right now but it will be without any problem with version 5.1 and its "Masks for objects" feature (see http://www.picturestoexe.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=6679 and http://www.picturestoexe.com/forums/index....st&p=43900). I also think it might be more useful with some additions. In Lin's Maskdemo, the magnifying glass enlarges the view under the glass. The enlarged area appears less clear than the overall photo. In your demo, the image under the glass becomes very focused but does not appear larger. Can a template be made which would offer both options individually and together? It seems to me, that most useful would be for the passing glass to both magnify (enlarge) and retain original clear definition.Thank you for your work that you share. Lin Evans Posted October 21, 2008 Report Share Posted October 21, 2008 Hi Bob,Actually, there is magnification on theDom's version - perhaps you looked at the earlier version where the original images was blurred then became clear as the magnifying glass passed over? What happens is that with masking whatever image you have within the mask will be revealed whether it is "clear" or "focused" depends entirely on the image used within the mask and really has nothing of substance to do with the mask itself. The mask simply "reveals" what lies beneath.Though it might be "possible" to create a template, it probably wouldn't be as useful as with others because the "position" of the underlying photos (the one revealed) must be adjusted to suit the subject matter. In theDoms earlier version he intentionally blurred the original subject then in the area of the glass the original focused image was revealed. In the second demo with masking he preserves the blurred original but slightly magnifies the image revealed within the glass.In my demo, the image magnified "shouldn't" be less defined than the original in any way. If it appears that way on your monitor, something must not be right since the identical image was used for both - just reduced in size outside the masked area. Container and Mask objects have enabled "Mipmapping" option in these two slideshows (TheDom's demo has not). It's mistake of beta version because user can't turn on this option for Masks.
