I have recieved a PM this morning from a New Memeber (zero posts) which contained only a LINK saying PLEASE HELP.

It could possibly be genuine or a scam OR it could be MALICIOUS!

I did not click on the link to find out and would advise against anyone else recieving similar doing so.

Anyone else recieve one?

I got an e-mail telling that I have a personal message on the WNsoft forum. The message was from "mignulikz", and the message was "please help". That text was underlined, and when I clicked on it, the browser tried to open the address "sabl.ru", but it did not open. I don´t know what to think about this kind of message - hopefully it was not some kind of illegal activity. If you know what this is all about, please tell me.

I too have had the suspicious "hello" from the said member. Perhaps the monitors should check this out. Fortunately I do have some very good protection on my computer but I will be doung a virus and a spybot scam just in case.

Monitors keep us in the picture.

It might be a good idea to run a security check on your computer?

You should NEVER click on a link like that!

I hope that you did not contract anything serious from the encounter.

I agree, this is very dangerous stuff! It is guaranteed to be some kind of porn and probably will have some kind o virus. ALWAYS DELETE THIS KIND OF MESSAGE WITHOUT OPENING IT>

Moderators please note the name of the sender and ban him/her from our forum please.

Hi yes me too. The link takes you to an Adult Website.

This may be silly of me I was just tring to hellp some one?

Regards

Sue

I was also silly enough to click on the link, but now I know at least where it would have taken me, and fortunately the site did not open in my PC, so probably I got nothing bad into my PC. I have run some spyware scanning on the PC and found none. I have also Ad-Aware and SpywareBlaster plus Avast running. - But why, overall, is there the option of sending personal messages, because such a forum obviously offers a route of intrusion to criminals ? Perhaps the moderator could post a comment, because this kind of event is serious to the reputation of the whole firm ! All correspondence could well go solely through this site, and none by e-mal.

Hey guys, providing your version of Windows is up to date with appropriate security settings and you have competent antivirus software, I'm not sure that you can acquire spyware or other malicious software just by viewing a webpage. In my experience, a user needs to take positive action, such as deliberately installing downloaded software, to infect their PC - and you'd be amazed at how often people will do just that. If you want to take sensible precautions there is a wealth of information available from Microsoft - here is a link to a page giving basic steps to protect your PC: http://www.microsoft.com/protect/computer/default.mspx, and one specifically about spyware protection: http://www.microsoft.com/protect/computer/...re/prevent.mspx

Hope this helps!

Yep, me too. 'Please help' from 'Deleted member'. Clicking on the underlined Please Help took me to one of those graphics-type jumbled letters to type in a window, and saw the website was .ru - nuff said, I was outta there quick. Is there no limit to what these sorry low-life scumbags will do??

... I just deleted this spam member account and blocked his IP address.

Igor,

Many users obtain their IP addresses from their ISPs on a daily basis. So, the IP address blocked today might belong to someone quite innocent tomorrow.

Best regards,

Xaver
