  1. I have downloaded the "3D Cube" template and my only question is a very elementary one. I use Photoshop 7 mostly for editing my pictures. My photos are not in a 1:1 aspect ratio. I can resize the photos to 400 pixels on the short side. Is there a way to crop to 400 on the resulting other dimension other than trial and error? Thanks, Howard
  2. I downloaded the new Beta 4 successfully and no problem installing it. Thanks "team". It looks great! I had been playing with developing the beginning of a slide show for a workshop I will be involved with next year using the previous Beta release. The theme is Shine brilliantly. The brochure is blue with stars on it. I photographed the brochure front and am using it as part of the beginning of the show. When I ran the preview using the newest beta release, I notioced a pleasant change in the way the slide exits the screen. I have it rotating slowly and getting smaller towards the center of the screen. The effect works, however, as the brochure turns it leaves a circular trail all the way in until the slide transitions off. It did not do this on the previous beta3. I like the effect and would like to know what happened. I also have a question about how to slow down the movement of the last slide on the show. The PTE file is only 6KB and the EXE file is 2128kb. I would appreciate if someone would agree to look at it and let me know how this happened and how to repeat it. I would be glad to email the file if my server will transfer this size file. Thanks, Howard
  3. Lin, Yes I was at the wrong site. Freepay.com. They did have a new CD available. I have now looked at the new site, freeplaymusic.com and see their copyright and use conditions. Thanks, Howard
  4. Lin, I know this has been discussed many times on the forum, but am still confused. I looked at the sight freeplay.com for the music used in "Vger". It did not appear that they had any copyright free music on the sight. It looks as if you were using music from an album created by them. If an individual owns the album, is it permissable, legally, to use the music for a slide show that is diseminated to others? Thanks again for a great show illustrating PTE beta 5. Howard
  5. I will second the positive comments made above about the tutorial. I have used PTE almost since the beginning and have never had a need to use the buttons feature and therefore never experimented with it. I learned a lot just going through the tutorial. It was very thorough. Also, had I thought about this tutorial being developed in the UK, I would not have brought up the question about spelling. Thanks to you Ken for the concept and to you Ronnie for the opportunity to go through the tutorial. Howard
  6. Lin, I just downloaded Vger 2 which only took about 4 minutes to download. The show was fantastic. I was not aware that the Hubble photos were available anywhere. I liked the varying music themes throughout the show. The script at the first of the show went a little to fast for my reading. I felt rushed. It may have been the type of font you chose, or maybe/probably my eyesight. Thanks for a great show. Howard
  7. Andrew, Just saw your post on the vineyard show. I downloaded it and it played almost perfectly on my system. I have a Radeon 9600XT Edition graphics card. The music synced pefectly. I did see a very slight jerk once or twice during the show. Thanks for sharing. Howard
  8. Ken, I have enjoyed your examples of PTE Beta 5 capabilities. They, as well as others on the forum have been a great help in shortening the beginning learning curve. I notice your download files are in Yahoo Briefcase. I have been trying to get a response from them to find out more about limits in Briefcase. I thought there was a maximum download file size much smaller than these PTE files. Does the higher download sizes come with purchasing more space with the Premium Briefcase? This looks like the best way to send PTE shows to friends. Or is there a better way. I do not have a web page that I can place them on. Thanks. Howard
  9. I don't know if this should be another topic or not. So, I am posting another simple question here. I am experimenting with the new Beta. I have three slides. The second slide starts prior to the first slide finishing. Thus cutting off the end of the effects of the first slide. I have tried lengthening the time for the first slide by customizing the time in the slide. What else do I need to try? Thanks. Howard
  10. Igor, I ran the third test about 6 times on both my Sony laptop and my desktop with no problems not dialog popups. Howard
  11. Igor, I have now run the new test on my Sony Vaio laptop. The following info about display: Mobile IntelĀ® 915GM/GM5,910GNL EXPRESS CHIPSET FAMILY(Display adapter) (2X) Sony Notebook LCD (1280 x 800)monitor (2x) I ran the test about 5 times for about a minute each. No dialog boxes nor messages came up. However, the transitions, when the width of display changed, did show behind the next slide and then snapped off. This did not happen with the first test. Howard
  12. Igpr, I ran the new test about 6 times for about 45 seconds each. No problems nor messages. This desktop is using a Radeon 9600 series display card. I will run it on my laptop shortly and let you know. Howard
  13. I ran the tests again, about 5 or 6 times on both with and without music. Ran each one for about 2 minutes and stopped by depressing the esc key. Both ran very smoothly. No problems detected. These tests were run on my Sony Vaio laptop. Howard
  14. Igor, Ran both programs several times with no problems. Ran restarting between each by stopping previous run by depressing Esc key. Also ran both by letting it rerun automatically several times with no problems. Howard
  15. LumenLux: I also had trouble downloading from Beechbrool, so i downloaded from your link. I did watch the entire show and enjoyed it very much. I have been doing similar shows, although shorter in duration, of our missionary trips into Mexico. The participants always enjoy seeing them. We use them at church to share the experience. This has "sold" PTE to many people that were sold on Powerpoint. We also give each participant a CD with the show and all pictures, even if not on the show. We also make a DVD for each participant so that they can show on their TV easily. I feel the show was a little long, however, I can see how I would have had trouble deciding which ones to leave out. I have solved that on occasion by doing two shows, one pklanned ot for shorter duration and another including all shots. I have never included the navigation bar in my shows but feel I will begin. It saves confusion using the computer up and down arrows and pause buttons. Not haviong participated in the trip, I would have liked, on some slides, a short script describing what we were seeing. Beautiful photography. As someone else posted, you could make a great presentation using just faces, or another using just colors and landscapes. For the participants, I feel the show could not have been better. Thanks for sharing. Shalom and Blessings, Howard
  16. Steve, I have finaly been successful in downloading the show Pheasant. I have been on dial-up and now am on DSL connection. This may have helped the situation. Thanks for a great unique use of PTE. Howard
  17. Ken, I cleaned the files again and tried the download. Got the same message and immediately tried again, with same results. I did this three times in a row with no success. I will give it time and try again in a couple of days. Thanks. Howard
  18. Ken and Nathan, Thanks for the input. I downloaded ccleaner as you suggested, Nathan and downloaded again. I still get the corrupted file message when I try to open. Any other suggestions? Thanks, Howard
  19. Steve, I have downloaded the Pheasant show three times and get a corrupted file each time. What can I be doing wrong? I am able to download other files. I would love to see the show. Thanks, Howard
  20. Ron, I tried from south Carolina using Google and had no problems. Howard
  21. Ken, You are right, I had the wrong date. The original PTE show was done in May of 1993, but I went back in at a later date and added music. Since the file was quarenteened and then restored later, the restore date was the date showing on the file properties. So, I can not be real sure what the true original date was. Thanks for your response. Glad the problem has been corrected. Howard
  22. Just a note to the forum that I too had this problem and it identified 32 files with the psw. Banker problem. The oldest file was a PTE show I generated in May of 1993. Not sure what version it was. I have updated AVG and restored the files. They all seem to be working now. Thanks for all the input in this forum. It has been a great help. Howard
  23. Ron, I will "ditto" Brian and Ken's remarks. I am using the free version of Lavasoft Ad-aware as well as Spybot. I also run the Ad-aware program every time I get off line. I will also add that several years ago I had a trojan horse attack my computer. I was using Norton at the time. It would not get rid of the trojan horse. I was able to download a free version of Grisoft's AVG virus pritection program, which removed the trojan horse, and have not had a virus since. But, there is always tomorrow, so we must be prepared. Howard
  24. I agree with Dana, the ability to resize images (either type in pixel values/% in properties dialog, or grab picture handles and resize w/mouse, in object editor, would be very helpful. Also, to retain position of objects at different resolutions, would be good. Howard
  25. Since I found out you can insert text within the object editor, I have no problems with the current text editor. I agree with DaveG. Spend time on more important changes. Howard
