  1. LumenLux, Thanks for your comments. I was about to think that no one was going to give me any constructive criticism. I agree that the list of participants would be better at the end. The animated text is only understood by those on the trip and was to bring back some of the humor on the work site. As you mentioned, the show was really designed for those on the trip, thus my reluctance to share. With the new features in PTE it takes real will power to "hold back". By the way, I would love to see your friends work from Egypt and especially Israel. We visited Israel several years ago and really want to go back again. Thanks again for your reply. Howard
  2. Al, Thanks for staying on top of this with The AVG technical group I really rely on AVG and have not run it since this problem occurred. It is good to knnow that they are receptive to correcting this type problem. Will update and run. Howard
  3. Mark, this is a longshot, but click on the "customize slide" for slide 45 and look under the music tab. Be sure you do not have "play background" music checked. Even if this is blank but checked, in version 4.48 this would cause the music to stop playing at that slide. Version 5 will not let you set both of these fuction at the same time if you synchronize to music. If you are using version 5, the program will not let you add music by the Project options" method and also set music with an individual slide under "customize slide" option. If you add background music with the "Customize slide" option, it stops if any other slide has this option checked and left blank. If you did not re-do the show using ver. 5, but opened old show in ver 5 maybe it slipped in somehow. Howard
  4. I am sharing this slide show with some reservations. It is sort of a documentary of the week our church spent in Piedras Negras, Mexico during the third week of June. I volunteered to do a slide show of the week to share with the group on the last night at the end of the week. There were several individuals taking pictures and I attempted to use some of each persons shots with the show lasting about 15 or 20 minutes. They would share the shots with me each night. I ended up with a show containing about 167 pictures. Version 5 was used and the shots were resized to reduce the size of the exe file. I made DVD's to share with the participants and quite a few had problems with the DVD. Some had the DVD to freeze during the show. And the same person at other times had the DVD play successfully. Limited time was available during the week to work on the show, so late nights were called for. I am pictured in the slide that shows a head shot that fades into a head shot at a different angle with the caption "Uugly Hat" circling in. We joked during the week about ugly hats. http://www.mediafire.com/?13vttgr1cwm Comments are welcome. Thanks Howard
  5. Thanks Stu, I overlooked that option in the advanced options. Howard
  6. Jean-Claude, Opening with the last saved PTE project is normal for PTE. I do not see any preferences option to change that. I find that convienient though, when working on a project and having to close prior to finishing the project. Howard
  7. Stonemason, I do not have Nero on my system and PTE Deluxe has no problem burning a DVD. The burning engine is built into the PTE Deluxe program. Howard
  8. John. When I download a new version from Igor, I save it with the number tacked onto the name of the file I am downloading. When I install the version, It saves the version number in the "about" screen. I do not know if it is the way I saved it or not. Mine currently shows Version 5.02 in the "about" file. Howard
  9. Igor, Thanks for the explanations. It is a simple matter to do the rotations in "O&A" and I will do it this way for now. Thanks, Howard
  10. Another observation. When I do a slide show as the one we are discussing in this thread, I organize all pictures in folders and sub-folders, by day the pictures were taken and by the person taking the pictures. It is easier then to organize the show like I desire. When I started looking for the ini file, I did not see it in the main folder. But I did find it in the subfolders that the pictures were located in. There were multiple ini files. The Ini file in each subfolder had the same name, so it therefore could not be put into the zip drive unless they were in separate folders or they would overwrite each other. Or unless they were consolodated someway prior to going into the zip drive. Had I not organized the pictures in the several subfolders but in one main folder, The zip drive may have contained the ini file. I will try a test of a shorter program with pics all in the main project folder to see if the zip drive picks up the ini file. Howard
  11. Thanks Hawk , I do still have the working folder, as I only made the backup to share with a friend so he could see how to do some of the animations, etc. I will try your solution and use it as an answer until Igor corrects it. Thanks to all who responded. Howard
  12. Butler, What you are asking is one of the features that can be accomplished with the O and A feature in version 5. While in PTE, add a photo to the slide list and then click on the O&A. Then within O&A, add as many pics as you like. resize them within O&A You can then, with the aid of keypoints, have them go off the screen or on the screen. There are many examples of this type of action on the various tutorials and shows on the forum. Howard
  13. Ralph, You are very observant! I took the zipped file and placed it in a separate folder on the C drive, to isolate it, and then extracted it. I then have two folders in a folder called "backup". If I open the pte file from the extracted folder, it does give landscape. If I open it from the zipped folder it, it gives portrait. Is this a "peculiarity" of PTE or a "peculiarity" of the Zipped folders? Igor may have to answer this one. Howard
  14. Ralph, I will try the two ways of extracting the files tomorrow and let you know the difference, if any. Nobeefstu. No, I backed up the PTE after I had finished everything. Thanks for the comments. Howard
  15. nobeefstu, Yes, the copy appears to have captured the animations correctly. Only problem was with the pictures that were turned 90 degrees within the PTE program, did not show turned in the backup and therefore showed turned incorrectly when the preview is looked at. I realized that the pics are just copied form the originals. I just expected the rotate to be recorded within the PTE project and transferred in the backup as were the animations, etc. Not a problem if there are only a few turned photos. Howard
  16. I have just completed my first real slideshow in Version 5.02. I had PTE generate a zipped backup folder to give to a friend to let him see how to do some of the special features of PTE 5. When we unzipped the folder on his computer and opened the PTE in version 5.02, all the pictures that originally that had been rotated 90 degrees were no longer turned in the backed up PTE file. Is this a bug or is it something that is expected? The show is about 260MB containing about 265 pictures and depicts a week on a mission trip in Mexico. Howard
  17. Lin, Thanks for sharing the "The Colorado Girl" with us. Great photography. I am a realistic bird carver and especially enjoyed the bird shots. good example of the subtle use of version 5. Thanks again. Howard
  18. Mike Have you tried changing the time for the last slide to an extended time, using "customise slide", to cover the length of time you would want the slide to stay on the screen? That may work. Howard
  19. Thanks Al. I knew I had seen this topic somewhere. I guess it was in the discussions about PTE-5 Adjustor. Thanks for the response. Howard
  20. I seem to have seen something similar to this on the forum over the last several weeks but can not locate it. I am using PTE 5 Deluxe. I have a show with 160 slides that I developed while on a mission trip in Mexico last week. I have used personalised settings for time and O & A on several slides and have an extended time listed in "customize slide". I used 4 seconds in project options. I now find that I need 5 seconds. When I put 5 seconds in project options, and depressed the "set for existing slides", it changed all the ones that had extended times for the personalised settings and O & A feature. Is there a way to change the 125, or so slides without going to each one and changing them manually? In version 4.48, changing the time in project options did not change any slides that had personalised settings. Howard
  21. Igor and team. I also add my hearty thank you for accomplishing and sharing this version 5 of PTE. I am still learning and will have an opportunity to work on a special slide show of a mission trip to Mexico beginning the week of June 23. Just in time! Thanks again, Howard
  22. Moelwyn, Did you try burning the DVD using the burner built into PTE deluxe rather than an external burner? I have used it on several shows and have had excellent results. Howard
  23. Igor, do these new prices mean that, for the delux edition of version 5, there is no business nor commercial edition now? Howard
  24. I agree with Alain's suggestions. I also looked for this and completely overlooked it with the light colored font. Thanks. Howard
  25. Alain, I have just been wishing the same thing. Although there are work arounds, It would be convenient. Howard
