As much as I would like to see PicturesToExe take away some of Microsoft's PowerPoint customers I just don't see that happening unless PicturesToExe can do all of the following: 1. Import and convert existing PowerPoint slideshows into PTE format. 2. Save in a data only file format so there are no possible malware false alarms (no .exe or .bin file format). Like I have mentioned before this requires a separate player. 3. PowerPoint (if I am not mistaken) also runs on a Mac so you should also have the PTE editor and player work on OS X. The main problem is PowerPoint is part of Microsoft Office which is almost everywhere in the Higher Ed academic (academic pricing) and business market in the U.S. (maybe not Europe and Asia). There are many books and tutorials on how to use PowerPoint. Google also has a free PowerPoint like program (Google Slides) that has not had much success against PowerPoint. If Google can't beat Microsoft with free software chances are nobody else can either. Tom

Since PTE is more like a 2.5D engine instead of 3D there is probably no need for full 3D spatial audio. I did recently watch a Google I/O of Google Virtual Reality / Cardboard and spatial audio was mentioned (25:40). The ability to walk inside an environment (Star Trek holo-deck) would be cool. Virtual Reality may be a simple add on to your smartphone. Tom

I quit using pop up windows when the save image option was removed. I now use print screen to capture slides. Tom

I purchased a copy of Fraps about 5 years ago. Fraps is great if your operating system is Windows 7 and you don't mind the large files that require compression into a smaller format. Fraps 3.5.99 does not support Windows 8 completely. It has not been updated in over 2 years. I am hoping 3.6 comes out this year and supports Windows 8 and Windows 10. I have not tried but I doubt if it would work remotely over the internet. I think the Windows PC running PTE would have to be on the same network. If I remember I will bring my Chromebook home tomorrow and try running PTE. Tom

Currently the only way I can think of to run PTE on a chromebook (Chrome OS) is to use the Chrome Remote Desktop and connect to a Windows PC. You might want to record a short example that has the sound synchronization problem and upload to dropbox and send Igor the link. He might be able to fix the problem in VC or suggest a better codec. It has been many years since I have used CamStudio. From what I can tell on their web site it is not actively being developed. I have no solution to your problem but I am not surprised it is not working properly. If you use a different video editor on the file does the sound stay synchronized or is it just Video Converter that does not work properly? That would be cool to have 8 channels. 4 in front (top left, bottom left, top right, bottom right) and 4 in back the same. I think PTE needs to support multichannel audio first (without having to separate in audacity). Tom

I have a Techsmith Camtasia 8 and SnagIt 11. Techsmith is popular in higher ed but I think it's WAY overpriced. I don't use all of the bells and whistles in the editors. For $50 US I purchased a FastStone Capture family lifetime license that covers 5 computers. That is the same price as Techsmith SnagIt for one computer and it's not lifetime either. It saves to .wmv format but I just figured out that you can rename it to .mp4 and it works! Thanks Lin, Tom

No doubt that FastStone Capture is a good screen recorder. It does variable bit rate better than SnagIt and better than the Avermedia Live Gamer Pro. Using Bitrate Viewer you can tell that the bitrate drops down to near zero until there is movement on the screen. Towards the end with the rain and snow it was really active. Thanks, Tom

Hi Lin, That screen recording looks really good and smooth as butter. It must be recording close to 30 fps. Also the software is less expensive than a hdmi to usb converter device. I think I payed about $150 US for the avermedia device. Rain and snow are hard to record at the particle level. I recorded about 2 minutes at 720p 60fps 40 Mbits and I think it was about 300 Mbytes. Maybe I will upload to YouTube and see how it looks. Thanks, Tom

The slideshow was not smooth on the PC either. I think the mutiple large images in the carousel cased the playback problem. I have been testing capturing at 40 Mbps for Lin's snow style. Snow animation is hard to capture at low bitrate because there is movement everywhere. t looks really good but the file sizes are large. Tom

Hi Lin, I did upload one screen recording to YouTube (along with the samples I sent you in a PM). The Avermedia does a good job capturing the hdmi from the graphics card and combining the audio from my usb microphone. Hi, Before I spend time experimenting has anybody tried mixing 2 audio tracks that have the same sounds but only one channel (left or right)? I assume audacity can export a 2 channel sound into a 1 channel sound. Both audio tracks are imported into PTE and then when the object moves from horizontal position A to horizontal position B you fade the 2 channels in the PTE sound editor to follow the object.
