  1. A couple of observations of 8.0.13. Tested on three different Windows 8.1 computers and no more floating point error message. During install the default is to accept the license agreement. I think most software that I install defaults to not accept and you have to check the accept box before you can continue. Not a problem but I thought I should mention it. In custom transitions there is an option to add video objects. I was trying to add a sound effect by adding a video object and set opacity 0%. I can hear the sound in the custom transition editor but not outside editor. Is audio allowed in custom transitions? Thanks, Tom ViewMaster3.zip
  2. Hi Igor, Yes. On my Lenovo ideapad laptop version 8.0.13 fixes the custom transition problem for Windows 8.1. I will test further this weekend on my other Windows 8.1 computers. Hi Gary, I can upgrade at a very low cost to Windows 8.1 on my new Dell 8700. I might do that but I will make a Windows 7 clone of the hard drive first. I was happy with Windows XP for many years. I also use Linux often at work. Probably 40% Windows, 40% Linux, and 20% Macs. Thanks, Tom
  3. It seems to be related to using only custom transitions (use no regular transitions) and Windows 8.1. If you continue past floating point error and try to preview then there is an EAccessViolation in module PteViewer5.exe. Thanks, Tom
  4. Attached project. It seems to happen when I add/remove Basic Transaction, Dissolve + Custom Transition. Thanks, Tom custom_transition_Mar10-2015_10-08-22.zip
  5. Decided to order a Dell XPS8700 on sale. My current Dell XPS8700 has been running 24/7 for > 1 year with no problems. The good news is that it ships with Windows 7 Pro so I should be able to create custom transitions. Maybe someone can verify that Windows 8.1 does not like custom transitions. http://www.costco.com/.product.100155381.html Thanks, Tom
  6. Hi Chris,DG, I tried it on my Lenovo ideapad i7 laptop running PTE 8.0.10 and it still has the problem. The only thing my 2 computers have in common are Windows 8.1. The Lenovo did not display Invalid Floating Point error message until after I unchecked the Basic, Dissolve transition. I am hoping to create variations of the transition but I need it to run on Windows 8.1 first. It's not only this custom transition, but other custom transitions not created by me I have tried to load cause the error message. Not sure why. Thanks, Tom
  7. Starting to play with custom transitions again but ran into a problem with Invalid floating point operation. Not sure why it doesn't like my transition. Maybe I can only use 2 slides/images on transition? PTE Deluxe 8.0.12. Thanks, Tom ViewMaster1.zip
  8. I don't want to reinvent the wheel if somebody has already created this style. A view-master is a simple stereoscopic device with film on a circular disc. I will try to create a style if it's something that does not exist. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/View-Master http://www.premiumbeat.com/blog/view-master-video-gallery-tutorial/ What I am looking for is something like this at around 0:45 seconds. An up/down rotating motion that combines 2 images in the center. I think the rotation axis for each image should be opposite but this example has the axis on the same side. Thanks, Tom http://youtu.be/zv4u_q8m8rw?t=45s
  9. Android and iOS PTE clients have already been suggested. Tom
  10. Interesting problem. Maybe PTE thinks you have a dual monitors and is trying to output to a secondary monitor. Does your graphic card have more than one output? Tom
  11. Hi Igor, Thanks for the update! Tom
  12. Igor (or anybody else who might know), Do we have a new date estimate when beta testing will start? It's something I look forward to every year. Thanks, Tom
  13. Hi Ken, Looks like a great camera. I will have to put it on my very long wish list. Tom
  14. Most new smart HDTVs support DLNA digital media player capability. It would be great if you could preview your slideshow inside the PTE editor to your HDTV via wireless. PTE would be the media server. Some cameras and media players have this capability. If in the future there is a standalone PTE viewer app (to play .ptshow files) it would be nice if it also had optional DLNA support. http://blogs.windows.com/bloggingwindows/2011/03/28/using-play-to-with-a-dlna-certified-tv/ Tom
  15. The Samsung NX1 camera provides h.265 encoding. It must have a very fast imaging processor to encode in real time. The problem is that most editing software does not support importing and editing h.265 video. I am sure it will be easier in the future. Tom
  16. Hi Daniel, Yes. I am very impressed with h.265. I have a Panasonic FZ1000 camera but have not been using it to shoot 4K. Now that I have a device that will display 4K videos I have no excuse. I usually sit only 2m from the 4K Vizio because it is easier to see the fine detail in the video. Unfortunately the UHDTV prices increase rapidly for larger display sizes. The image quality is just as good or better than my Sony Bravia 1080p.. The Hybrid program lets me batch convert many videos during the night so I don't mind waiting. Tom
  17. The level of complexity and configuration options in h.265 is much higher than h.264. Decoding of h.265 seems fast but encoding is much slower. I like the small file sizes it produces. The amount of detail is amazing. Example that looks amazing in 4K Tom
  18. The problem has been fixed. At least it is for the problem I was having with MB. Tom
  19. I recently purchased a low cost Vizio P series 50" 4K UHDTV. http://www.vizio.com/p502uib1e.html It has 5 hdmi inputs and a USB 3 input. I was having difficulty creating 4K videos because the Vizio USB media player requires h.265 hvc1 codec instead of h.264 codec when playing 4K videos from the USB input. I tried various h.265 command line encoders (divx265, f265, x265), but was not able to create a 4K video that would play on the Vizio. Then I was reading a forum post and they mentioned Hybrid. I has a large number of options. I select the x265 option and then audio pass thru. Now I can create fantastic looking videos for my 4K TV. It also converts YouTube 4K videos you might download. Hybrid http://www.selur.de/ My workflow is to create a custom 3840x2160 HD mp4 video in PicturesToExe and then convert that video using Hybrid. The encoding takes about 4 times as long as a normal h.264 encoded video. The file size is about 25% of the size of the original file. Even 2 Mbps h.265 videos look perfect on the 4K TV. I don't know if PicturesToExe will directly support h.265 video encoding in the future (licensing), but it's possible using a 3rd party application. Tom
  20. Hi Peter, I received the subscription verification email message in less than a minute after registration. Maybe it was marked as spam. Tom
  21. Hi Igor, My MB has a false positive for Jean-Cyprien's Christmas 2014. My PteViewer is normal. Posted to the MB forum. https://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?/topic/162947-picturestoexe-slideshow-false-positive/ VirusTotal https://www.virustotal.com/en/file/e5f3b95a7e813ecd1f371f4f9a245b3baa74913e167ea52bf44cec8ba46bd579/analysis/1420020519/ Thanks, Tom
  22. Hi MUR, This would make a great slide style. Thanks, Tom
  23. I use VMware often at work but for my Macbook I use Parallels. You have to own a copy of Windows to install or use Windows 10 preview which is free and also free for personal use after it's released. I have no idea if Windows 10 runs under Parallels or Fusion. Also someone needs to test PTE on Windows 10. Tom
  24. Hi Daniel, I would test the Safe Executable File for Internet file by uploading to virustotal.com. I did a simple test that was interesting. I uploaded a small .zip slideshow and had 2 false positives. I unzipped the file. I uploaded the .exe file. It had 3 false positives. I then uploaded the .pteshow and it passed with 0 false positives. So even though the .exe was properly code signed some of the AV tests thought it was a virus. It might be that the secure hash algorithm SHA1 is rapidly being replaced by SHA256 and so SHA1 is not trusted as much by AV software. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SHA-1 I am really hoping that some day we have a PTE player so all we need to do is create .ptshow files.
