When I upload a youtube video using PTE publish to youtube option the privacy setting is always set to public. I have to go into video manager and set it to the option I want. Minor problem but something that could probably be easily fixed. Thanks, Tom

Yes. You will need to purchase an upgrade to use version 8. It is a very good upgrade deal to deluxe for $34. http://www.wnsoft.com/picturestoexe/buy/ Tom

Hi Igor, Enabled 2 step authentication and added password for PTE YouTube uploads. Video (straight from FZ150) fails to upload at 1080p from my Win 8.1 Dell XPS8700 computer. The same slideshow uploads at 1080p on my Lenovo IdeaPad i7 Win7 laptop. Sample slideshow that uploads only on my Lenovo at 1080p. http://1drv.ms/1ofxyT8 Since nobody else seems to have this problem maybe we should label it SOLVED since it's limited to one PC. I reinstalled PTE 8.0.5 and that did not fix the problem. Thanks, Tom

Video stabilization software good or bad?

Hi Gary, I recently purchased Corel x7 Ultimate videostudio for $53 from Amazon. It comes with Mercalli 2 SE which is a limited version. According to the Corel documentation it is a 64 bit fx (plugin). I would expect rendering to be faster using the 64 bit version (also why PTE is beta testing a 64 bit version later this year). What the limitations are of the 32 bit version the proDAD support people would know. Maybe the 64 bit version is twice as fast? Maybe it can handle files > 4 GB in size? My experience with Mercalli on my PC have been very good, usually analyzing and rendering short videos in less than 1 minute. I will be testing 4K video as soon as my FZ1000 arrives. Thanks, Tom -
Hi Eric, The mp4 audio was AAC and PTE converted it to AC3. It is strange that I can manually upload the same mp4 file created by PTE for YouTube and it works. Just the PTE upload method fails. Video stabilization software good or bad?
tom95521 replied to tom95521's topic in Equipment & Software
I created a vibration style just for fun and applied it to a static image. X/Y/ rotate and zoom only. Keyframes >=25 mSec. I know it's not a real world test of image stabilization. Tom Vibration.ptestyle -
It appears to be limited to one video that I try to Publish on YouTube at 1080p. PTE Publish on YouTube 720p - Y PTE Publish on YouTube 1080p - N Chrome Drag and Drop YouTube Upload 1080p -Y The workflow that created this video: Apply vibration style to image in PTE 8.0.5 Import into Corel x7 VideoStudio Ultimate Apply Mercalli 2 SE video stabilization (split and full screen) Export mp4 Import into PTE 8.0.5 PTE Publish on YouTube 1080p. Since Drag and Drop upload method of the same mp4 file works it's not a big problem. I do not think it's bitdefender antivirus or malware bytes pro blocking the upload since it usually warns me if there is a problem. I can not verify the problem started with PTE 8.0.5 because my vibration style was created after PTE 8.0.4 was replaced by PTE 8.0.5. Thanks, Tom

Hi Eric, I can create a mp4 and upload to youtube by drag and drop method. That works fine. The youtube publish option was working until (I think) I upgraded to 8.0.5. I will do more testing this weekend when I finish my vibration style (for video stabilization testing). Thanks, Tom

Creates MP4 but does not upload. Can somebody verify this is a problem or just me? I do like the high speed upload. Thanks, Tom

Video stabilization software good or bad?
tom95521 replied to tom95521's topic in Equipment & Software
I am creating a PTE style that adds vibration (many keyframes with pan/rotate) to any image. After exporting the vibration slideshow as a mp4 video I test using Mercalli. It's interesting to see what it does to a perfect stationary image that is rapidly moved to simulate vibration. I will post the style and a video when it's finished. It does not seem to experience motion blur/focus probably because slow shutter/sensor exposure is not a problem. On actual video I use the excellent PTE screen sharpen filter. Tom -

Hi Gary, There is also http://www.mercallieasy.com/ for $20 with a free trial. My Corel X7 VideoStudio Ultimate was bundled with Mercalli 2 plugin. Not sure if it is full featured as v2 or v3 stand alone. http://www.amazon.com/Corel-VSPRX7ULENMB-VideoStudio-Ultimate-X7/dp/B00IIL0S8W/ Tom -
Video stabilization software good or bad?

Hi Eric, I will probably wait awhile before buying another tripod or head. I want to try the sorbothane material first. It's used on telescopes, washing machines, shoe inserts, etc. It might keep my feet warm when walking in the winter since it converts vibration into heat. Thanks, Tom -
Hi Stu, I think it would be easy to create a PTE player that would open .ptshow files when you double click on them (player name with different .ptshow name). It might require some metadata added to the .ptshow file so there is created version information (if not already in the file). The auto update of the player (or at least download new version) would require additional code. Thanks, Tom

Video quality looks good to me. We have steam locomotive and donkey (winch) the lumberjacks used for redwood logging a long time ago. The historical society fires it up a few times year but not as impressive as your steam engine. Tom -

I might try adding sorbothane feet to my tripod to see if it helps with vibration reduction during ultrazoom videos. If it's good enough for telescopes it should work with my camera. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sorbothane http://www.sorbothane.com/blog/camera-vibration/ Tom -
Video stabilization software good or bad?

Hi Eric, I will check out the stabilization mode. I am getting a pistol grip like the handles on the old 8 mm film cameras. If I get that Panasonic FZ1000 it will be interesting to compare focus and stabilization. I know the 4K video quality will be amazing. I sure hope PTE supports 4K video. I guess I can download one of the FZ1000 sample videos and test with PTE. Thanks, Tom -

Even with a tripod (I think) the newer superzoom bridge cameras at full zoom need to be corrected for stabilization. The tripod does help but some of these cameras have 60x zoom and they can act like a seismometer, transferring small ground movements into image displacement. Barry, since you seem to favor DSLR cameras over bridge cameras and images over video I doubt if this applies to you? Tom -

tom95521 replied to tom95521's topic in Equipment & Software
Still testing the Mercalli software. Even with the tripod it seems to help when zoom is 12x or greater. Even after the video is stabilized in software I think I can see the Panasonic OIS "wobble" where the lens is tilted to attempt to stabilize the video. Since it's a tilt and not a pan I don't think it can be removed. Maybe I should turn OIS off. Anyone who wants to experiment without spending too much money there are a few options (besides the free VirtualDub/Deshaker). http://www.mercallieasy.com/ and http://www.muvee.com/products/turbo-video-stabilizer Thanks, Tom Video using tripod. Most of them were at 300mm(12x) and 600m (24x). -
Video stabilization software good or bad?
tom95521 replied to tom95521's topic in Equipment & Software
I think I will do another test using a tripod at different zoom settings to see if stabilization software does make a noticeable difference. The above test video was created on purpose to be hard to stabilize with the added flag movement. I could have probably made it more stable by increasing the zoom and camera movement settings. Eric, That FZ1000 looks nice. Some smartphones shoot 4K now. Nice video of the train. Thanks, Tom -
Video stabilization software good or bad?
tom95521 replied to tom95521's topic in Equipment & Software
Hi Jose, I think the pistol grip might improve my video stabilization a small amount so I will not have to apply such a large amount of software image stabilization. The fluid head for my tripod is for smooth video panning although using a tripod should help with video stabilization. I am using Corel x7 ultimate which includes the Mercalli plugin. It is 64 bit, has smart rendering and supports 4K @ 65 mbps. Speaking of 4K I have been reading about the new Panasonic FZ1000 and the sample videos look great (even on 1080 display). Thanks, Tom -
Waiting for PTE 8.5 beta testing to start... I rarely carry a tripod when I go out with my camera. It's usually not a problem for image capture but for video capture movement is noticeable when using zoom (optical image stabilization enabled). Video stabilization software works by panning rapidly to correct for movement and then adjusting zoom and crop. Due to the zoom the video quality is slightly lower than the original. The more stabilization the more zoom is required. I am planning on buying a pistol grip for my camera and a fluid head for my tripod (and keep it in my pickup). There are also steadicam devices but I am not planning on walking while capturing video. I am testing Mercalli software. VirtualDub with Deshaker does the same thing and is free. Thanks, Tom Sample. I don't think the quality suffers too much. (Hint) I try to add a static image to the start of my youtube videos to allow the cache to buffer the video before higher bitrate motion.

(SOLVED) Cannot create video with version PTE 8.0.3

My Windows 8.1 PC with 4770K i7 cpu and 8 GB ram has bitdefender free version and malwarebytes pro 2 installed. I do not have problems creating mp4 files. Some motherboards do not like odd number of dimms (dual channel memory) - (you mentioned 3GB ram). If problem happens again I would run memtest86 or some other ram testing software. Good luck! Tom
