  1. Thanks for the explanation. By using framed objects you can create relative multiple speeds. It would be nice to have an easier method to adjust speed. Tom
  2. Not a proposal but a question. What type of slideshow might require such fine adjustment of speed? Thanks, Tom
  3. I watched this slideshow and appreciate the detailed image quality and animation. The surprise object at the end of the show was very good too! Many years ago horizontal concrete wall construction was very popular in California for large single story buildings. I think earthquake construction code changed and not so popular now. Still the preferred method for residential construction with wood walls. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tilt_up Thanks, Tom
  4. The pan and zoom transition model is the perfect solution. It would be random and you could create multiple pan directions. Very good solution Jean-Cyprien! Thanks, Tom
  5. It may not be completely random but a slight pan and zoom is possible. You select all the slides you want to style and apply the pz style. If you want pan left, pan right, and zoom in, zoom out, that would be a multiple of 4 slides. I'm not a wizard style creator like DG and others but I could create something that shows what is possible. Update. Here is a quick test. 16:9 format. 4 slides required. Pan Zoom 4 slides.ptestyle Tom
  6. So this should probably be an idea or suggestion. You want to divide audio file into pieces inside the PTE audio track editor. Until then maybe you could use an external program? There are many of them. I have not used this but it looks interesting. http://mp3splt.sourceforge.net/mp3splt_page/home.php Tom
  7. Hi Eric, Does it run ok if you do not use the desktop shortcut? If that works try setting the shortcut property start in option to set your current working directory to the slideshow folder? Tom
  8. Does it need to be one slideshow.? If you don't want to resize the images you could divide the slideshow into chapters and have the running slideshow start the next slideshow? I have had no problems adjusting audio levels in ver. 8. If it's video then just import the video as an audio track. Tom
  9. I like imgburn for mostly burning ISO images (works great with videobuilder ISO images). I don't think it does everything Roxio does (or many others). I have tried Ashampoo but so many advertisements to buy other software, upgrades, etc. Tom
  10. I think you are talking about starting a slideshow from within a slideshow? I always use relative paths (actually no path) instead of absolute paths (drive letter:\folder\file). The backup to zip is one method to do this but it does not stop you from using absolute paths which makes the linked slideshows dependent on a single location on the hard drive/network. Tom
  11. I'm afraid I agree with Barry on this topic. We know the risks, we backup our data drive, and just reinstall the os and apps if the boot drive fails. I know the software exists to speed up the restore process, but I have multiple computers so downtime is not a big deal. My laptop has a single drive but the files in my user profile are backed up immediately to my 2TB mirrored Synolgy NAS. Tom
  12. Still missing the end of the transition. Since the style works fine I don't think it's the computer. I will try on my newest i7 cpu tonight. Update. The transition works great on my Dell 8700 with Haswell i7 and Nvidia GT635. It might be the hardware on the older PC just does not like video mask transitions. I know this does not explain why the style works and the transition does not. Oh well, it works on my new PC. Thanks, Tom
  13. Many web browsers have some type of safe browsing check. I have not received a warning from my malwarebytes pro and it sometimes gives a warning when Google Chrome does not. I don't think there is a problem. http://www.google.com/safebrowsing/diagnostic?site=www.picturestoexe.com Are you using a https SSL port 443 connection? Then the cert is not trusted and you have to allow it. A better solution but more expensive is to get a trusted CA cert for the host www.picturestoexe.com. Tom
  14. Not sure if this is a problem but I noticed that you can run multiple slideshows on top of each other if you have 2 monitors (or maybe start with batch file). The slideshow opens on the default monitor. Double click on the slideshow again and it runs on top of the first slideshow. I opened about 5 slideshows on the same monitor. Then you have to escape out of each slideshow like peeling an onion. It might be a good way to test a CPU if you tell PTE to continue to run when window is inactive. Start up a dozen slideshows and see how much it slows down. Thanks, Tom PTE 8.0.2 (Yes, I should upgrade to the latest) Windows 7
  15. Hi Dave, I must be doing something wrong because I don't see the fade at the end. There are a few puzzle pieces remaining to fill and it jumps to the next slide. I tried changing the transition duration from 4 seconds to 5 seconds but that did not help. I tried changing the slide duration from 5 seconds to 7 seconds but that did not help. Also tried slide options KFSD on/off. The styles work great so it's not a big problem. Also what is TTT? Software? Thanks, Tom
  16. This is one of my very favorite custom transitions. Thanks! Tom
  17. The human eye is equal to a 52 MP camera in resolution. So an 8K resolution monitor that can display 33 MP images is not unreasonable. Faster GPUs are on the horizon. Not sure why anyone would want to use 1024x768 in the 21st century. Projectors have increased in resolution and dropped in price. I think the minimum resolution should be 1920x1080. 8K = 7680 × 4320 resolution http://www.cambridgeincolour.com/tutorials/cameras-vs-human-eye.htm Tom
  18. I thought 4K was the sweet spot for image resizing but I guess 8K is not too far away (26MP images). Zoom in on one of the native resolution computer generated virtual reality images and be amazed. screen captures from Crysis 3 https://secure.flickr.com/photos/k_putt/sets/72157644191959442/ from http://www.loadthegame.com/2014/05/07/crysis-3-running-8k-resolution-looks-simply-amazing/ I have no idea how much an 8K HDTV or video camera would cost. That's probably why they are computer generated graphics. Tom
  19. Hi Eric, About 10 years ago I wrote a small windows program that killed processes if the PID path was inside your profile directory (unless you allowed it). I think it stopped a lot of unwanted apps from running/installing. Not sure why Symantec is giving up but I never really liked their AV products. Now I use the default Windows 8 AV + Malwarebytes Pro 2. I really like mwbp 2 because it blocks bad websites you surf + incoming IP intrusions (I run a web server for my security cameras). An ounce/gram of prevention is worth a pound/kg of cure. Tom
  20. Maybe I am just lucky but I no longer need drive imaging/cloning software. My c drive has the os and apps. Data on d drive.I rarely need to replace drives with larger size drives. In the past yes. It was fairly common. Now everything I have is larger than one TB. At home I backup to a large NAS. At work all the server operating systems run on virtual machines so we create snapshots and clones all the time. Amazing how much the technology has improved. Tom
  21. Dave and Lin have more experience than I but then I really enjoy the how do I ...? problems. There are so many variations on how to do something with PTE. Here is a style that might help. Just put the slides in order and select multiple of 2 slides. Of course I could be way off from understanding what you are trying to accomplish. Dave is the style guru. 16:9 format. You might have to create your own style based on source image sizes. SplitScreen.ptestyle Tom
  22. Possible future Mac version? That sounds very interesting. I have not used custom or virtual AVI in a long time. I am hoping that PTE will support 4K as a preset option. YouTube does support higher resolutions and 4K cameras are dropping in price. https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/1722171?hl=en Thanks, Tom
  23. http://mpc-hc.org/changelog/ My favorite video player. Update displays audio playback rate + bug fixes, etc. Tom
  24. A high quality DVD player like OPPO digital can upconvert and sharpen the DVD video. Not as good as HD video but it does make a noticeable difference. Tom
  25. Download PTE from inside Windows or copy it from the Mac file system to Windows. The picturestoexe-setup.exe should open. Tom
