  3. Hi Dave, Very nice slideshow. Merry Christmas, Tom
  4. Hi Dave, Feel free to improve any of my styles. You can do things with PTE transitions and styles that are amazing. Mine are just POC (proof of concept) and FF (for fun). Thanks, Tom
  5. Cool. I renamed the .ptestyle to .zip and I could see the data. Thanks! Tom

  7. Dave, Can I use images in styles and share with others? I thought I might be able to make the miter with a mask but I could not figure out how to do it. I don't know what a .ptestyle file contains. Is it like a zip and it can images/sounds? I don't anything about Styles, just playing around. Thanks, Tom
  8. Hi Lin, I don't follow the French forum but I know they invented diaporamas. Amazing slideshows. Can't stop playing with Slide Styles. Too much fun. Simple Red Curtains. 16:9 ratio. One or more slides. Red_Curtains.ptestyle Tom
  9. Simple Metal frame. 16:9 ratio. One or more slides. Uses mask instead of image resize. I could not figure out how to miter the corners so I added squares instead. Metal_Frame.ptestyle Tom
  10. Simple Tape frame. 16:9 ratio. One or more slides. Uses mask instead of image resize. Tape_Frame.ptestyle Tom
  11. Most of my custom created styles are very simple without key frames. After applying my style I have to reset the duration of the slide back to the original duration (example is a video slide). I click on the full duration link before applying the style but it does not change duration. I don't know how to set the style duration equal to the duration of the slide. Maybe add new option for style duration to be equal to duration of slide when creating style (unless there is already some way to set this). Thanks, Tom

  15. Hi Roel, While waiting you can do almost the same thing by sorting the files (after adding your desired metadata columns) in Windows Explorer (outside of PTE), selecting the files you wish to use, and then clicking and dragging the files into the PTE slide timeline. They should stay in the same order you used for sorting. http://www.picturest...post__p__114475 Tom

  17. Eric/Lin, You will want to do a custom (advanced) install and delete the partition. Make sure you do a full format and not just a quick format. http://www.sevenforu...-7-a.html?ltr=C If you have financial or medical records you want to make sure are not readable by somebody else then you can use DBAN. http://www.dban.org/ And if you are really paranoid you do what google does. http://youtu.be/TQoKFovvigI?t=1m45s Comparing the IBM type M buckling spring keyboard to other keyboards is like comparing Stradivarius to other violins. Great for programmers and sysadmins. Tom
  18. Hi Eric, Makes me want to buy a new PC. Do you have a battery backup UPS for your desktop PC? Not needed for laptops but a good idea for desktops. I have a Cyberpower 1350. http://lifehacker.com/most-popular-battery-backup-ups-unit-cyberpower-1350-1467352240 Recently I purchased a new keyboard for my PC. It is a replica of the original IBM M keyboard. It makes a loud clicking sound but I never want to use a cheap keyboard again. http://pckeyboard.com/page/category/UKBD Tom
  19. My knowledge of PTE is based upon a few hours each week during the evenings and weekends. It's just a hobby in my spare time. Does PTE support hidden surface removal? If yes how is it enabled? I tried show front side and show back side options. I think it must already support this because there a so many slideshows that work properly. Examples are a cube and the very excellent first person perspective Christmas village (sorry I don't have the link). http://en.wikipedia....e_determination http://en.wikipedia....r%27s_algorithm http://en.wikipedia....iki/Z-buffering Microsoft API http://msdn.microsof...6(v=vs.85).aspx Sample slideshow. I think the red object would be hidden depending on location. https://dl.dropboxus...bject_order.zip Thanks, Tom
  20. The OS should have the drivers pre-installed on a custom built PC. A long time ago it was fun to build my own PCs but I lost interest since I usually didn't save money. Hope it's a minor problem. It should be a very fast PC and PTE should run great. Tom
  21. Trying to learn about styles. Simple 1 slide style of spiral. I think styles are a very powerful feature with much future potential. Spiral-1.ptestyle Tom
  22. Hi Eric, I can't believe it takes 10+ days to build and ship a PC in England. In the US you can order and receive a PC in a couple of days (Dell/HP/Lenovo/...). They must build them and "burn them in" (heat room) for a few days before shipping. Tom
  23. Hi Eric, Short of reformatting drive and installing Windows you might try this fix it program from Microsoft. http://support.microsoft.com/mats/windows_update/ Hope you get your new desktop PC soon. Tom

  25. Hi Lin, It is interesting that the Mac slideshow has a warning message about unsigned app (Mavericks 10.9). I don't know if Igor can divide the player from the media like he did for Windows 8. Plays great after you trust the slideshow. Thanks, Tom From the Help Page. The app is from an unidentified developer The app you tried to open was not registered with Apple by an identified developer. This doesn't necessarily mean that something's wrong with the app. For example, some apps were written before developer ID registration began. However, the app has not been reviewed. Also, there is no way for OS X to check whether the app has been modified or broken since it was released. A common way to distribute malware is to take an innocent app and insert harmful code into it, and then redistribute the infected app. The safest approach is to look for a later version of the app from the Mac App Store or check for an alternative from an identified developer. In addition to apps, other types of files may not be safe. Scripts, web archives, and Java archives have the potential to cause harm to your system. Of course, not all files like this are unsafe, but you should exercise caution when opening any such downloaded file. An alert appears when you first try to open these files. You can choose to override your security settings and open the app anyway. In the Finder, locate the app you want to open. Most apps can be found in the Applications folder.Press the Control-key, then click the app icon.Choose Open from the shortcut menu.Click Open.
