  1. Thinking about purchasing a small tablet. I notice that the new Intel Bay cpu runs on Windows 8.1 tablet. Has anyone tried running PTE on a Windows tablet? http://news.cnet.com...-sale-for-$299/ Venue 11 Pro http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9RsgJS45NaY Thanks, Tom
  2. The same video rotated 36 times with a blur background. No problem for v8. 16:9 17MB https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/1946048/pte/pacific_rim.exe Tom
  3. Trying to decide what version of Windows you want for your new PC? Buying an OEM version for your Mac virtual machine (Paralles/Fusion)? Here is the official Microsoft Lifecycle (End of Life) information. The end of extended support date is the most critical. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/products/lifecycle
  4. Just a demo of a couple of new Mac transitions. I believe they were used in the Keynote app during the Apple annoucement yesterday. It only required about 15 minutes to simulate the transitions. I have not made them into custom transitions but it would not be too hard. 9 MB https://dl.dropboxus...transitions.exe Tom
  5. Eric, This is the model I use. I don't change ports very often but it works great. http://www.amazon.com/Kinivo-501BN-Premium-wireless-adapter/dp/B0049SCB2Y/ Tom
  6. I use a 5 port HDMI switch with remote to change inputs on my Sony Bravia (only 3 HDMI ports). One of the inputs is from my Lenovo laptop to watch web only TV shows and PTE slideshows. Works great. I am sure it would work with more PCs Tom
  7. I should buy a new PC. I don't need a new PC. Must avoid temptation. Tom
  8. Eric, There are many AV emergency boot disks to choose from. Just google 'antivirus emergency boot'. You might find a virus that is hidden when Windows is running. http://www.geekomad.com/2013/03/3-best-free-bootable-antivirus-rescue.html Microsoft even has one. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows/what-is-windows-defender-offline Tom
  9. Sounds like you might be having hard drive problems (file corruption). Did you do a scandisk and defrag? http://support.microsoft.com/kb/156571 I usually just right click on drive letter, select Properties, Tools. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-vista/improve-performance-by-defragmenting-your-hard-disk Also if you want to run a memory diagnostic Microsoft has one you can download for free. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/magazine/2008.09.utilityspotlight.aspx Format and reinstalling Windows is a good idea, but a lot of work. I think I would buy a new PC if my budget allowed. Tom
  10. Eric,Some viruses are very good at hiding. If you continue to have problems you might want to boot from an Avira rescue CD. It boots from your optical drive and loads a Linux kernel. I have found a few viruses that regular AV software did not find. http://www.avira.com/en/download/product/avira-rescue-system My desktop PCs usually last about 3 years. Not because parts wear out but because the applications require more resources. I rarely upgrade components except more ram and larger hard drives. I like the specs of your PC. I was curious about your hard drive choices. Your second drive is "only" 500 GB. The price difference between 500 GB and 1 TB is probably a very small amount. Tom
  11. Hi Eric, What's American format? I think wattage is universal? Maybe it has to do with input voltage or frequency but I would not want to take any chance on a power supply rating too low. We like to super size everything over here. Tom
  12. Just for fun. Windows Tom
13. YouTube allows you to add a description and tags to your slideshows to improve page ranking. You can even add hypertext download links to Windows and Mac executable slideshows so people that are interested in viewing at the highest quality can download the file. They will receive a redirect warning but it works. I use dropbox but there are many other file sharing options. You can do this inside PTE during the upload process (thanks Igor!) or after the video is uploaded you can edit the metadata. YouTube explains Metadata Thanks, Tom A few screen captures.
  14. Purchased a couple of these small hdmi devices. According to reviews it should be possible to play most MP4 files directly from Chrome and send to Chromecast device (not over internet). I will test with PTE created MP4 files when devices arrive. The other new device is a Nexus 7 tablet. I am waiting for new Nexus 10 with 8 core cpu + 6 core gpu. Also new Android 4.3 has Open GL ES 3 3D graphics with 32 bits/pixel (if display supports). Google Chromecast Tom
  15. Not sure if someone has already created a custom transition like this one (DaveGee?). It's like Swap 3D but with a twist. Depth shading on slide and reflection (I hope). Tom 16:9 https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/1946048/pte/Tom1Tom2.zip
  16. Created in 7.5.10. Probably something I am doing wrong and a not a PTE error. When I try to add child shadow rectangle to parent image rotating in 3D there is a white line in during the middle of rotation. It's hard to explain but I think the slideshow and screen capture will explain. Happens in both vertical and horizontal directions. Obvious in the horizontal rotation (slide 4). I want to create a set of transitions based on basic origami folding but I need to solve this problem first. Thanks, Tom z_shadow.zip
  17. If you like to try different fonts in your slideshow google has 629 fonts available. I have only tried a few with PTE but they seem compatible in my limited testing. http://www.google.com/fonts Tom
  18. Just a simple sequence of 4 slides that have gears with handles that rotate when the slides pan. Gears created in Xara. It's fun trying new ideas. Tom mechanical_project.zip
  19. Looks like the integrated graphics will be much faster in the fourth generation i7. Available later this year. Haswell Graphics Performance Smeagol: I don't need another computer. Gollum: Oh yes you do! Tom
  20. Probably not enough users with these monitors to ask Igor to add a new PTE aspect ratio but this would be a cool LCD monitor to have for panorama viewing. Dell U2913W Tom
  21. I think it would be nice so users would not have to upload 2 versions of slideshow. See Eric's ISP quota posting. Possible Solutions: 1. Windows and Mac free player download that can play slideshow data file. 2. Windows and Mac players with single data file in zip file. 3. Windows and Mac applications that convert to other format. I think I like solution 2 the best but maybe not possible. Also must consider slideshow creator not wanting format change. Thanks, Tom
  22. Just simple set of 16 transitions that zoom in (0->100) and out (100->0) from top, bottom, left, right + 4 corners of the screen. Testing sharing video content in zip file. You should see the unlisted youtube video when you open the .html file. directional_zoom.zip Tom
  23. Slideshows that contain static images would benefit from variable frame rate video export. File size should be smaller than fixed frame rate video. Wiki Variable frame rate MPEG-4 Allows variable frame rate Thanks, Tom
  24. My prediction for 2013. The primary advantage that PTE applications have that most web videos do not play at 60 fps. It can see a big difference in quality. Very smooth with no stepping motion at 60 fps. YouTube and Vimeo presently do not support 60 fps video. Probably due to 1.5x average network traffic and file sizes compared to 30 fps. Red camera has a great article that shows the difference in quality. Red HFR Another comparison of fps. FramesPerSecond Most new digital cameras can do 720p at 60 fps and many can do 1080p at 60 fps. 60 fps is common on Android mobile devices running Jelly Bean 4.2. HDMI can handle 1080p at 60 fps. HDMI specifications Right now the only inexpensive method to play 60 fps web videos is to use your own hosting site and a web player such as jwplayer. There may be a video hosting site I am not aware of that allows 60 fps. I will try and make a comparison web page using jwplayer. Thanks, Tom
  25. Previously named Space. Just a couple of transitions with rocket boosters to move the slides. It turns out animating a cone of ionized gas and mach discs is not that easy. Not for your normal slideshow. 16:9 Demo Rocket1Rocket2_demo.zip Rocket1 rocket1.zip Rocket2 rocket2.zip Thanks, Tom http://youtu.be/t6a0u0pNHDA
