Perhaps I am missing something? If 1 and 2 are OK why are you using the others? DG

Peter, There are pros and cons with all aspects of this debate. The pros that I see in this aspect are firstly that the various versions of an image which could be used in PTE when Igor fully devops it (Colour; B+W; Sepia etc etc) come with no increase in the EXE file size. If the various versions are produced in an external editor then the image involved has a (roughly) three times disadvantage. I like to use high quality JPEGs (in terms of JPEG quality) and a 1920x1080 image is of the order of .750 - 1 Mb. If done in an external editor the file size for the three versions COULD be of the order of 3Mb. Igor is making the same thing possible for a file size of just 1Mb. I don't visualize that he will stop at just B+W and Sepia - a full range of basic filters should be possible. I still maintain that an absolute beginner with a digital camera should be able to use PTE without the need for any external editing packages. If he or she then progresses and WANTS to use external editors then that's great. Igor's marketing strategy should not indicate that this software is purely for those who have and use the full versions of Photoshop CS6, Soundbooth etc etc etc. I think that he is right to include basic sound and image processing functions. I can't help thinking that the mistake he contiuously makes is bringing the prototype to the table rather than wait until he has a fully developed feature. The prototype always brings about these (sometimes stupid) arguements about priorities etc. Just my humble opinion, DG

BeTa, What happens if you insert the non-converted video (30fps) and make the avi/mp4 video with that? DG
-
Cor, We can use Pixbuilder to make a painted mask already? It would be better to be able to do it directly in PTE but in the meantime.................. DG
-
Thanks Cor, It occured to me that, by bouncing a few ideas around, Igor could get a feel for what users want from the feature? Based on the masks idea it might be possible to turn an image into pure black and white (no grays). DG

That's elitist . DG

where is "here"? dg

bb true but what about the beginner who wants to import images directly from a compact and has no editor? should igor cater for him/her also. dg
-
Agree with Stu. I have just bought a Compact Camera with HD Video and it is set to PAL. All of the normal Movie Modes are 30fps and it plays well in PTE. DG

Lin, I was asking the question whether anyone had any ideas how the feature might be used - no more, no less. I have showed that there is no increase in the executable in my attachment which uses the method you described. Three occasions of the same image blended via keypoints. I don't want to prejudge how Igor will implement it - just looking for ideas on how to use it. I have already suggested that if it could be implemented per Keypoint as opposed to per Image it would be a vast improvement - but that's for Igor to decide. DG

Audio: add a Move tool and Color the waveform
davegee replied to goddi's topic in Suggestions for Next Versions
I'm tending to agree with Gary that the Tracks need to be displayed differently in the Waveform Display in Project Options>Music. I would like to see a track which has, for instance, been offset to have a flat line for the duration of the Offset and the Total Time for the Track shown. In multiple tracks this would allow for a better visualisation of the exact time the one track fades out and the next fades in. Seeing them all at the same time would be even better. DG -
Some possibilities for the forthcoming B+W/Sepia feature that Igor hinted at. One image subjected to B+W and Sepia - no (little) increase in file size for the conversions. Previously would have required three images. Any other ideas? POSSIBILITIES.zip 1024x768 - Windowed Mode - Keyboard works. DG

Lin, The site I linked to is a nightmare!! Go to Forum and Nikon and "D800 is finally here", then scroll down. Try this: http://www.nikonuser...24552ff69cd15e6 or this: http://imaging.nikon.com/lineup/microsite/d800/index.htm I'm not in the market for a D800 (or a D8000 for that matter!) - My D700 will do for some time. The D800/800E is going to be of use to someone, but not me. I have just upgraded to a new computer to cope with 25Mb NEFs - 70Mb NEFs are going to need a little more. The image that you pointed to is a downloaded JPEG - the RAW would give a totally different JPEG in different hands. DG

It can be a problem when not viewing a show at its native resolution. Unfortunately, we all should be on 1920x1080 now (but are not). It shows that whatever resolution you use someone is going to view on a different res monitor and not see exactly what you are seeing. DG

Hi Mick, No intentional Moire. Are you viewing at 1920x1080? DG

Thanks to Bill for hosting a PTE show that I threw together to take my mind off things at the moment. http://www.beechbrook.com/pte/ 1920x1080 - 74Mb - No Nav Bar (Sorry Ken). Feedback welcomed. DG

Newer versions are not backwards compatible because of new features. If you ignore the message and open anyway the earlier version will open the PTE but any newer features will not be applicable. Make sure that you have the current latest v7.0.4 and use that exclusively - there is little point in using v5 or v6. DG

Superb!! You read my mind!! No longer do we have to make multiple versions of images for basic effects. A great refinement would be to make it possible to apply it to a Keyframe rather than globally. Not as good as Nik Silver EFX Pro but great for passing effects. DG P.S. Any more that you have not told us about??????

Bob, If you mean what I THINK you mean - no you can't. You have to change the Image file in O&A>Properties>Picture for each slide. Sorry. DG

Thanks for the feedback. Here's the 1920x1080 BWB Frame (along with the original 1620x1080 Frame). Daves BWB Frame.zip DG

Here's a Settings File that I created some time ago when I started to wean myself off dependence on the Adobe product. It puts a 2 pixel BWB line around a 1620x1080 image for use in PTE. If anyone finds it useful I can also post the 1920x1080 version. Unfortunately, in NX 2.3, it is not possible to create a single version which works for all resolutions. Each resolution requires its own settings file. I can live with this. Unzip the Settings File to a folder on your hard drive - Load into NX2.3 from that location and save the three Colorize Edit Steps as a single Settings File to your Settings File Folder. It is possible to change the Black-White-Black to any other colours as required. Daves BWB Frame.zip DG

Jeff, You have done an excellent job of integrating the Video and stills in an almost seemless manner. I'll look at that again!! To be hyper-critical some of the skies have pixellation and the silhouettes have excessive (unnecessary) halos - all fixable. I'll still watch it again!! DG

Bob, If you were to save a Template which included slide and object timings and then re-opened it, what you could then do is change the Image (O&A Properties) and Object to something new. You could save a Template with just one slide and copy and paste that slide as many times as needed. But you would just use each slide as a Template for your new image/object. Jill's method is probably easier but not the only way to do it. That's the beauty of PTE. DG
