In Bert's case it probably would have loaded the two files (PC and MAC) separately and created two entries on the SSC screen. But, I did not think to try that. DG

Maybe I am wrong but I am always suspicious of someone who joins the forum and immediately posts an advert for a software solution. DG

P.S. Assuming the file size has "something" to do with it I have now played the PC version and cannot see any reason for the high file size. No Video. Are you using Full Resolution images SOC? Are you using WAV files? You can make a 100 slide EXE for around 55Mb easily so why the 130Mb? DG

I tried to upload on Bert's behalf and, almost immediately, got the "-200" error message. Bert, Your files are 130Mb each, which is quite big. I have not played them so I don't know if there is any Video in there or what other reason there would be for such a large EXE. I would have thought that SSC would be able to say straight away if the file was too big but it did attempt the upload. I have never had this problem but also I have never before tried to upload a 130Mb file. I have asked Igor to comment - perhaps he can throw a little light on it. Another possibility is that there is something in the files which SSC sees as a "threat". Try uploading a new small demo file to see if you can. DG

Latest Version here: DG

Ok Bert, it is around 11pm here now. I will try first thing tomorrow. No PM yet. DG

Bert, If you can upload the file to DropBox etc and send a link in a PM to one of us with your PTE Forum User Name and Password we could try what Barry suggests and will let you know the result. Afterwards you could reset your password. DG

Labelling of Slides for Competition
davegee replied to davegee's topic in Suggestions for Next Versions
Finding a specific image in an exe is not a problem using a template set up for Competition with a menu with hyperlinks. I set up a "Home" button on each page so that returning to the menu from anywhere is possible. But you have go through the menu each time. Being able to right click and choose a specific slide would be a help but even then it might be tricky. If you have two introductory slides then image 91 would be something like slide 93. I also put blank slides between images so that the images would not dissolve into each other. A further complication. Being able to scroll through pre-labelled slides would be a way forward. -
PTE is losing out to Irfanview and other presentation softwares for Competition use because of PTE's inability to be able to label slides/images for selective showing later on. According to a Facebook report you can press "x" (in Irfanview) to mark a slide/image and at the end of the show press Ctrl or Shift and Q to replay the selected slides/images. I would imagine that this is difficult to achieve with an exe file but there might be another way around it. PTE needs to be more Competition Friendly and perhaps it is an area that could be investigated later on? P.S. A suggestion that I made some time ago was to have a stripped down version of PicturesToExe without all of the Animation Bells and Whistles which would merely show the images which were inserted at a selected Project Resolution. Alternatively the show could be in a format created from the full version via the Publish Menu. The ability to present selected slides which were labelled "on the fly" would be essential.

I have lots if you want to try something different? DG

Sorry, maybe I was a little harsh but I have never associated Gershwin with Italy. I expected light, airy strings or maybe some subtle mandolin.

Maureen, Lovely Images - nicely put together. But, for me, the music does not "fit". The "bluesy" music is either New York or the Deep South and if you didn't know what the piece was called its relevance would be a puzzle. DG

Long shot: change the suffix to .mpg or MP4 or avi or any of the alternatives? Just keeping you company until someone with a better answer turns up DG

Can you right click on the mov in the file list and convert?

Added some clarification regarding Main Images when creating a Style. DG

Yep, my fault.

Updated the Objects and Animation / Main Screen with a short explanation of ways of setting up the GRID for best performance. http://docs.picturestoexe.com/en/objects-and-animation/main_screen#the_grid DG

Glen was a one time poster back in 2008, but someone was reading the thread and might have misinterpreted it so I tried to make the point that PTE has moved on since then so that the next person who finds this thread by accident by searching on Pan and Zoom has up to date info. Reading the last post in a thread does not always tell the whole story. I will give up on that idea - it does not work.

Styles are not additive - you could apply it as PART of another Style. But if you try to apply it as a single operation style it would negate all other animations and any other styles in particular. DG

2016 Update. In the current (version 8) version of PTE this type of use is easy to accomplish with Styles. DG

Lin, Something like the "image and border" tool which acts globally. But the "image and border" tool is too clumsy in that it puts a border on the outside of an object and necessitates a "compensation" via the canvas settings. A simple line or border inside the confines of the Slide sitting on top of all other objects set globally with the ability to switch it off on a slide by slide basis is what I would like to see. Barry, Yes, it could be developed to produce distressed edges and other effects such as Black/White/Black etc.

Igor, There is (and always has been) a demand amongst users of PTE for a method of putting a Border around slides in a slide show of variable size and colour. Many workarounds exist and they are good workarounds. I use them regularly. But isn't it time that PTE had its own means of putting a Border on a whole Slide Show without the need for copying a png from slide to slide or resorting to workarounds in the Watermark Option? The facility could sit alongside the Watermark option in Project Options/Advanced Tab and its controls should include: 1 Width of Line/Border in Pixels/Percent 2. Colour of Line/Border There is also the need to be able to turn that Border off for Specific Slides e.g. Introductory and Ending Slides etc That facility could reside in Slide Options. I hope that you will be able to offer some hope of this becoming a reality. DG

If you have Photoshop open at the same time and have a lot of memory allocated to it, that can also have an effect on PTE Animations. I had that problem recently. DG

Do you get it in the EXE or just in the Preview? It would help if you could attach a 2 slide show which illustrates the problem. Use Backup in Zip (File Menu). If the files are small enough you should be able to directly upload here. (Max = 3Mb). DG
