  1. I’ve not been on this site for about nine months and still notice that some of the regular experienced members are still contributing interesting comments and presentations. Because of my work commitments I have rather neglected my interest in photography and AV presentations. However, I had a holiday in Scotland which was a wet & cloudy one but did manage to put a slide show together with some of the results. I have put this on Beechbrook for any one who wishes to view it and comment. Paul
  2. Hi Jeff 15 minutes of pure visual excellence. Fantastic music and images not bored for one second and was sorry when it ended. Paul
  3. This was the first AV I made with PTE 3 years ago and felt this was an appropriate time to present it now as Remembrance services will be held over the UK Sunday 11th November. Paul
  4. Thanks for your comments Igor glad you liked it Paul
  5. Hi Jeff What fantastic images and if I understand correctly they have been taken from prints. The show was long but didn’t notice that as it held my attention all the way through. It did seem like an alien landscape but beautiful and a place I would love to visit. The music was very suitable for the subject. Also, the images with people in the foreground did help to give scale to the vastness of the landscape. I did like the end image of the people’s shadows. Thanks for the show. Regards Paul
  6. Two weeks ago I spent four days in the Lake Distict and this is the photographic result of the visit. Any comments are always welcome Paul
  7. Hi Dave What wonderful lush countryside. I did really enjoy your show, great creative images and appropriate music to compliment a well crafted presentation. Thanks for the pleasurable show and look forward to seeing more of you work. Regards Paul
  8. Hi Patrick Thanks for your reply. I do agree with most of your comments and it doesn’t have a universal appeal but find its far more interesting to look at a collection of aircraft images presented in this way than just assembled one by one . However, the animation of the complete slide show works fine on my PC & three other friends as well without any stuttering. So find it strange you have a problem. Anyway thanks, its great to have honest feedback mixed with complements and constructive criticism. Paul
  9. Every July at the imperial war museum at Duxford in Cambridgeshire they hold the most lavish air show called the Flying Legends. The aircraft are mainly Second World War and a few other pre Second World War military as well. I’ve only used a small number of images taken as the presentation would be boring if I used the lot so I have kept it about four minutes long. However, I feel this may only be of interest for the enthusiast anyway. If any one has any comments regarding this show please feel free to do so. Paul
  10. Hi John Thanks for your comments. I agree with your observation regarding the poor timing towards the end of the show. One of the reasons for this was I had run out of images to use. However I could have re used some of the same images a second time around but felt it could be boring to watch. On second thoughts I could have cropped the recycled images and put them through Photoshop with some different filters applied. Some of the noise was removed with the use of the noise filter in Photoshop but felt in some images it was best left in to give it a gritty feel to the occasion. As you can imagine it wasn’t a big gig, but I had many problems with the crowd being at the front and battling with people who had too much to drink. I did get my camera covered with beer plus myself at one point. I do love slide shows of landscapes and other countries but would also like to see more other subjects covered as well in slide show presentations. Regards Paul
  11. Great stuff Barry. Magnificent landscape with all the different coloured rocks and the photographic viewpoints used were well thought out. Also liked the moving clouds that helped to take the show to a more animated level. Have been to one of your seminars a little while back and had experienced some of you shows with great delight. Thanks for showing it Barry. Regards Paul
  12. This may only be of limited interest but felt this is worth showing. This presentation is about 3minutes long of a Queen tribute band called The Bohemians. I took the shots with the a Nikon D200 mainly by the available stage lights with the ISO rated at 1600 but a few with flash. The show was performed at a Suffolk country village festival in Hatcheston. The file size is rather large because of all the images crammed into the presentation some have to be a large ones because of the zoomed images. If anyone feels like making any comments I will be pleased to receive them good or bad. Regards Paul
  13. Hi John Glad you liked the show. Before I turn the images into a slide show presentation I work on each image for a considerable time in Photoshop trying to colour grade them to match as best possible. Also, I find that often because of the exposure differential ( if the image was exposed for the foreground) between the foreground and the sky area this needs a lot of work in darkening this sky area if it’s a dominant portion of the image. This is done by making a selection of the sky and applying the levels adjustment and reduce the brightness then invert the selection so the foreground can be made lighter if required. All this helps to make a well photographed image better and lift it to a higher level. I often find that wide angled shots do present these constant problems because of the vast sky area included. However. I do like vast areas of sky in my images if they are dramatic, and will spend hours creating the effect that I was witness to at the time of taking the photograph. Not always does the camera produce what we visually see and I believe we should add our creative version as well. I find its important to work on the images as soon as possible while they are fresh in your memory so that the changes you make match your own vision of that particular moment in time. I don’t believe that equipment plays a big part in the creation of good photographs or slide shows as most low cost digital cameras give fantastic results. It’s all about how we use the tools at our disposal to produce the final pleasing result. Regards Paul
  14. Thanks for the comments Boogie. I am collating infomation regarding the history of the memeorial and will attempt to produce a version 2 in the future with a voice over.
  15. A grand stunning memorial in London that seems to get little coverage. I was amazed the lack of visitors it seems to attract, bearing in mind this was late May this year and as can be seen from the presentation how very few people where around. Although it was never my intention to make it a slide show of this subject I felt this was a way of presenting it to those who have not seen it in all it’s magnificent splender. The vertical pan was created by the use of four images merged together to make a long narrow shot. The presentation is a 16:10 image ratio Always interested in any views or comments. Regards Paul
  16. Hi Gilio Liked the show and the very nice photography (lots of close ups) The bang from the canon was a nice little extra. I was interested to see this as some time ago in the late nineteen eighties I think it was, I made a visit to see the very start of the construction of the Batavia but have never seen the completed ship so this was of great interest to me. Thanks a lot for the show Regards Paul
  17. Hi John Just watched your show and was well entertained throughout. Music ideal and the sound effects did help to make it feel as though I was in the midst of the action. The photography was excellent, and creatively used in the construction of the presentation. It did seem a long show but the subject did warrant this and did manage to hold my attention. I did think that the view point from the balloon would have been an ideal opportunity to use the pan facility in pte with the use of a panoramic image (I do believe Adrian made a similar comment) However, this is only a small observation and doesn’t detract from the fact that it is a superb presentation. Regards Paul
  18. Hi Andrew Thanks for you comments. I was interested regarding your comment about the last slide and agree with you entirely, I new it was misplaced, liked it but found it hard to make it fit in. I did not seem to have another image to link it together and create some form of continuity. However, I have decided to change it and create a more fitting conclusion. Regards Paul
  19. Just a short presentation of a two day event at the Game & Country Fair show that took place in Norfolk at the end of April this year. The images have been set to the words in the music as best I was able. Any comments are welcome, and hope you enjoy the day out I captured as much as I did. Regards Paul
  20. Fantastic stuff Stephane. Great synchronisation with the music made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up and evokes great emotion with such powerful music and images. You do seem to have a gifted ability with this type of medium and seemed to have turned it into an art form. I have viewed your other work in the past and have admired it greatly. Look forward to your next presentation. Regards Paul
  21. Hi Ragnar Thanks for your comments. You have picked out one or two imperfections that I agree with. I had noticed the white line on the bottom of the first image as soon as I put it on Beechbrook but have now rectified it on my version. As for the images with the blue sky that had jpg artefacts I added the area of sky with clouds to make it look more dramatic and unfortunately they are images that have been enlarged too much I think. However, I have also changed this as well after your comments. In hindsight I should have not put this out for viewing before it was fit to view. The music is from a company who sell music suitable for film called Audio network plc and the music for the show was called Aquamarine. Regards Paul
  22. Hi Neil Thanks for your comments on my show re the Rivers and estuaries. Just looked at your presentation , and what a nice pleasant gentle one it was. Nice photography, just the right length, appropriate music. and the correct amount use of PTE 5 zoom. It is amazing what one can do with such one single subject as a pier. The other thing is that one single image on It’s own can usually be uninspiring ( not saying that your images are are uninspiring) and of no great significance, but once linked with other images to tell a visual story takes on a new important significance. Thanks for the show. Regards Paul
  23. Hi Andreas Thanks for your comments. Yes I take your point regarding the images that have no animation are on the screen too long. Also they can cause the viewer to lose interest. I will look at this and may change it Regards Paul
