Hi Jim, I'm not certain how much of this is relevant, but we already have the ability to display a variety of EXIF and Metadata in PTE. If you click on "Project Options" then the "Comments Tab" and look for "Set Text Comments For New Slides" then "Insert Template" you have a wide choice of IPTC metadata and Exif data to choose from. Best regards, Lin

Hi Walker, As Jill and Phil have already said, there is absolutely no reason to leave PTE. On all Windows installations there are Wingdings, Webdings, etc., which have multiple types of arrows and other useful symbols which are treated just like any other font. The easiest way to see what they are is to select them as a font then simply go through the uppercase and lowercase alphabet as "text" in PTE. Once you find the symbol you want to use simply size it, change color, position, etc., dynamically with PTE just as you would normal text. Best regards, Lin

Nice one Davy - It sure has grown since Sherry and I were there in 1992 at the old location.... Wow!! Best regards, Lin

Thanks Artem, That's great to know - it's an area most have yet to explore! Best regards, Lin

Hi John, Go to Objects and Animations and place both videos on a single slide - size and position them then select the one you want to adjust the start time differently for and click on the "Properties" tab. Set the Offset to the number of seconds you want the delay - that's all there is to it... Best regards, Lin

Hey Davy, Cool textures and nice mix too! The ending is too abrupt for me - otherwise a total thumbs up! Everything works. Best regards, Lin

Interesting optical illusion makes the pipe appear like a funnel in the "end" perspective... Best regards, Lin

LOL, you "knew" this was coming: O.K. - the 4th of July was our national "independence" day - so forgive the national flag flying at the top.... The "eagle" is our national symbol of freedom, courage, etc., but if Benjamin Franklin had his way it would have been a wild "turkey." Somehow - not quite the same - HA. This is a "spoof" on the mighty bald eagle - I call it "Fly, Fly very fast, the cats are coming"... As with your neat wire frame construction - press ESC to leave the continuous loop. All in fun! http://www.lin-evans...inwireframe.zip (about 3 meg) http://www.lin-evans...ireframemac.zip Best regards, Lin

Multiple slides selected, O&A button clicked
Lin Evans replied to aplman's topic in Suggestions for Next Versions
Hi Laurence, Here's a sample of doing exactly that. I think you can see why there are logical difficulties with this approach. The zooms and a pan was performed on the first image. This image was copied and quickly pasted with CTRL V to the next slides and then those additional slides were simply replaced in the main screen by clicking on the icon and randomly selecting additional slides. http://www.lin-evans.org/demo/sample.zip Best regards, Lin -
Hi Bert, Excellent rodeo images - you shot it from ground level which is always best! Out here in Colorado we have rodeo shows quite frequently, but rare, I guess in the east. The bull riding is always fun what with all the "snot" and other excrement from the bulls and a thrill a second for the riders - LOL. When I was young I rode the circuit a bit myself - too easy to get hurt and not too many healthy older rodeo cowboys. Congratulations on a great show - it was fun watching and listening!! Best regards, Lin

Hi Laurence, While posting a reply to your query about a feature to allow copy of animation to multiple slides, a Forum Error message appeared and your post, Dave's post, Ken's post and my post were accidentally deleted. In answer to your question - that feature has been discussed on numerous occasions but it is the prevailing view that each individual slide is different and that rarely does this work well. There are a few presentation slideshow packages which have such a feature, but these software packages are rarely, if ever found used in serious AV competitions. The "easiest way" with PTE to perform what you want is to enter one slide, do your animations then right click on that slide and choose "Copy." Next simply press Ctrl V as many times as you want to add additional slides. Next go to slide two and click on it to highlight the slide and use the small icon on the upper right of your screen on the Main Screen between "Comment" and "Add Sound..." to select slide two. Simply repeat the previous for each additional slide you want and each new slide will retain all animations you have selected on slide one. I apologize for the loss of your post - the error has been registered to the log on the forum software. Best regards, Lin

Locking Sound to a specific slide
Lin Evans replied to Photofanatic's topic in Suggestions for Next Versions
Hi Joy, By using the "offset" feature, you can lock the beginning of a music track to a particular "time" in your slideshow. If you change the show by adding images before that point, etc., then the track will not correspond to a particular "slide" but it will "start" at the identical "time" on the timeline each time you play the show. There is no way other than attaching the audio file to a particular "slide" to keep it with that slide when you are changing or adding slides, changing the display times, etc., but you do have the ability to set an "absolute" start point in the timeline by using the offset feature. Hi Dave, It's an infinite loop - just matched the start and ending rotation positions so as you discovered, just one slide. Best regards, Lin -
Enclosing Objects Within Wireframes
Lin Evans replied to davegee's topic in Tutorials & Video Lessons
Hi Dave, LOL - now "that" would be a fun one to try! Actually, with your excellent tutorial and example it's very easy to just "drop in" something already created like this little kitty cube. I'm reminded of the "bird in a guilded cage" story, with these various wireframe creations, I'll bet someone like Jean can come up with a pretty good likeness. Now if we could just figure a way to "skin" the wireframe like we do in 3D programs, that might be realistic and possible! Here's the cat.... LOL http://www.lin-evans...inwireframe.zip (pc) http://www.lin-evans...ireframemac.zip (mac) Best regards, Lin -
Enclosing Objects Within Wireframes
Lin Evans replied to davegee's topic in Tutorials & Video Lessons
Excellent Dave!! To add one tiny note - the "image" inside the wireframe could also be any "object" including a three dimensional object such as a rotating cube. Very good tutorial - right to the point and quite useful! Thanks!! Best regards, Lin -
Hi Charlie, It's because the original circle isn't correct. There is a white "line" above the circle which is probably a residue from the original creation. The other problems with the example you posted are that you missed a few increments of 10 in your assignment of rotation to each child. Here is a "corrected" circle and an example.... http://www.lin-evans.org/demo/example.zip Best regards, Lin

Hi Charlie, Sorry I couldn't answer sooner - I was away all day yesterday traveling. It appears that you have something other than the red circle in your project. If you can zip up the project and post a link, I'll be happy to have a look and see what may have happened. Best regards, Lin

Incredible job, Jan!! I can't imagine hand holding a 400mm lens for that long in normal conditions, let alone in a bouncing aircraft and shooting through the window. Bravo!!! Great job with the show too - a wonderful experience for the viewer. Best regards, Lin -
On Hearing the First Cuckoo in Spring
Lin Evans replied to David Porter's topic in Slideshows & AV Shows
Hi Mick, Soothing music and lovely imagery of the bucolic countryside. Very nicely presented. I think what might work even better for the little Cuckoo might be an animated gif made from a few frames of video. That technique has not been yet properly exploited. I'm considering doing a study and possibly a tutorial on the construction of such. If you have or get the chance to take some brief footage of a Cuckoo in flight or hopping from perch to perch I would appreciate the chance to break it down by frame and possibly create a few animated gifs which we could share on the forum. Best regards, Lin -
Hi, Assuming you mean for still images: The "Comments" tab of "Project Options" lets you do many things with captions. You can apply various "templates" or a single "caption" and apply to all by clicking on "Set for Existing Slides." In order to do this, the information must either be entered by you or available in EXIF or Metadata fields on your image. For example, you could cause the file name or file name with extension, etc., to appear on each slide by choosing this and clicking on "Set for Existing Slides." The information you want to appear must either reside already in the file or be entered manually by the user. As for applying captions to video, that is not a feature (video editing) of PTE. You can use normal text over your video and place it manually via keyframes at any point and control the duration, opacity, rotation on XYZ axis, etc., but PTE is not a video nor still image "editor." Best regards, Lin

Hi Rutger, I'm not certain if I understand exactly what you are trying to accomplish. An exe file is essentially a "program" telling the computer what it is that you want it to do. It can only be "interactive" to the degree that you specify before compiling and creating the exe file exactly what you want the program to do when you perform a certain action such as click on a specific spot on a map. You can easily create hidden "hot spots" using the opacity features of PTE so that when the user moves the mouse cursor to and clicks on a particular "area" of the visible screen, an "action" of some type happens. This "action" could be to display a specific image, to go to a website link, write an email, run another program and after that program has finished running "return" to the PTE program, etc. If you could be very specific about what you want PTE to do, we might be able to help you accomplish your goal. "IF" what you want is to click on a map in a certain area and have a particular picture appear - yes that is easily accomplished as long as the "map" is part of your PTE executable file. You may wish to view my tutorial # 31 here: http://www.picturestoexe.com/forums/index.php?/topic/7901-pte-made-easy-tutorials-continuously-updated/ Best regards, Lin
