  2. Hi, There are two issues. Your originals should be resized or you may run into issues with resources depending on the computer you run these on. The second issue is aspect ratio. Your photos are in a different aspect ratio than your display. Digital cameras such as yours create a 4/3 aspect ratio (3072/2304 is as 4/3). The display has an aspect ratio of 16:9. Set your aspect ratio for your slideshow to 16:9 then you will have to crop some of the image out to completely fill the screen. The 4:3 aspect ratio of your images means that if you fill the screen from top to bottom there will be black showing on either side of your display. If you expand the size of the images to fill the sides then you will have crops at the top and bottom. There is no way around this. One way to deal with it is to take your images into Photoshop and resize them to about 1600 on the horizontal aspect and let the vertical take care of itself. This will get the image size down to something which won't tax the system. Once you have done this, just fill the vertical aspect in Objects and animations and position the images for the best possible content. Best regards, Lin
  3. Hi Gayland, Ken's approach is actually the easier way unless you have a folder full of scr files. I still live in the DOS world - LOL. By right clicking on the scr file then using Ken's suggestion the scr file will automatically be copied to the proper folder and it also is a shortcut for pulling up both the Control Panel and the Screen Saver Tab. Best regards, Lin
  4. Hi Gayland, Just copy the file (filename.scr) to C:\WINDOWS\system32 and it will appear along with all the default (included) screen savers when you open the display tab on the control panel. Choose it as your screen saver, set the desired timing for it to appear as you would with any other screen saver. Best regards, Lin
  5. Hi Granot! Nice to have you back! Yes, on the current version 5.6 you can display the image name (file name) as a comment. On the "Main" screen near the top center where is says "Comment" click on the small icon to the right of the white space with flashing cursor - the one which looks like a page with the top-right corner folded. From the pop-up window click on the underlined "Insert Text Template" then choose "Picture Name" or "Picture Name With Extension." Best regards, Lin
  6. Hi Bob, I'm not certain where you received your information about PTE and DVD creation, but it is very incorrect. There is no problem with PTE 5.6 or any previous versions in creating a DVD which can be viewed anywhere in the world. Since Video Builder was added in the Deluxe 5X series of PTE it has had the ability to create DVD's. Earlier versions, 4.x and before required third party software to burn the DVD but version 5X has had Video Builder as an option since release and works perfectly. Best regards, Lin
  7. Hi Jeff, In that case just open PTE, load your show, click on "Create" at the bottom left of the screen then choose "DVD Video Disc" and check the Project Options to be sure you have the correct aspect ratio, etc., and load a DVD (preferable to have rewritable for first trial) and you should be home free. If you uncheck the "menu" in the first Video Builder screen (at the bottom) your DVD will just autorun the show. Otherwise, you have the option of customizing a menu but since you are rushed for time it will be easier to just skip the menu. Good luck and best regards, Lin
  8. Hi Jeff, If you have the "Deluxe" version of PTE with Video Builder enabled, you can directly burn a DVD. If you did not purchase Video Builder you can create a Custom AVI and then use other software to burn it to a DVD. If you can say which version you have, then perhaps we can walk you through the process. Best regards, Lin
  9. For an "engineer" with what appears to be a very high opinion of your own skills and knowledge, you have expressed very little understanding of what is involved in developing software for a wide variety of hardware applications. Let's begin with your statement below: Igor did not say, nor did he "imply" that he was "updating" images on the website "instead" of responding to users and working on solutions" - that's your very naive interpretation and shows a total lack of knowledge about the history of Wnsoft and the activities of the development team. Had you taken a bit of time to familiarize yourself with the history of this company you would know better. Those of us who have been around for a few years find "your" comments very disrespectful and your attitude both arrogant and ignorant of how things are and have been done with this product. Your comments: such as the above, not only express arrogance, but also portray black or white stilted thinking. There are numerous issues on the development table for this product which have been, and are being researched. You apparently haven't been around long enough to realize that there are many talented engineers and scientists among the forum members here working in harmony with the Wnsoft development team. These members do not insult the intelligence of the developers with arrogance and threats. Your statement: once again shows how little you really know about this product and its history or about presentation slideshow software companies in general. Do yourself a giant favor and learn a bit more about both Wnsoft and PTE before alienating the very people who produce the finest product of its type with the very best upgrade policy and price available anywhere. All things happen in their own good time and they will happen quicker without the creation of conflict. You took it upon yourself to hijack a thread complementing the company on the addition of a simple web page - something not done by the software development team and an action which takes no time away from development or debugging of the product. You did this to create a platform to express your opinions about one issue which has already been thoroughly discussed. You were told that the issue is with the projectors and not with the software, but still you argue. You assume that it might be possible to correct the "issue" by lowering the frame rate to video standards, but fail to understand that the majority of users of this product are interested in ultimate image quality in animation which is greatly enhanced by this higher framerate made possible by the very heart and soul of PTE, its hardware rendering which uses the power of the GPU. It's already possible to lower the framerate by creating an AVI video at 29.97 fps, but you appear to want PTE to work like "you" want it to rather than how is was designed. Lin

  11. Great looking new first page - Congratulations! Lin
  12. You are being a bit rude for hijacking the thread for your personal interests. Perhaps beginning a new thread to discuss your concerns about digital projectors would make more sense? I am moving this part of the thread to a new topic for you. Lin

  14. Hi Craig, Without actually seeing the original, it would be difficult to be exact but it could be that you are the victim of an aspect ratio crop. Vimeo, for the high definition files uses a 1280x720 pixel video with the 16:9 aspect ratio. If your original show was not in this 16:9 aspect ratio, when you convert it for Vimeo and upload it, there will be cropping somewhere along the top, bottom and/or sides. The newer cameras which shoot HD video either use what is commonly referred to as 720p or 1080p which translates to 1280x720 progressive scan or 1920x1080 progressive scan. This produces an image which is considerably wider than tall. The "typical" image in PTE from a digital camera is at an aspect of 4:3 which means if you use a typical dSLR to shoot with you will end up with black at the top and bottom of the screen but if you use a digicam it will usually fill the screen. Most digicams (fixed lens digital cameras) have an aspect ratio which corresponds, as an example, to 1024x768 pixels or a true 4:3 aspect. dSLR's "usually" shoot in the same aspect ratio as 35mm film (24x36mm) which corresponds, again as an example, to 1024x683 pixels which is a bit shorter on the vertical than a true 4:3. So when creating your original show, if you want everything to show on Vimeo's HD, you need to set the aspect ratio of your images to 16:9. You will then "probably" have to crop your images either within PTE via the Objects and Animations screen or in your image editor prior to making your show. This "may" not be the problem, but from what you describe it sounds very much like it is.... Best regards, Lin
  15. Hi Ed, Actually, you can do this (complete slideshow using objects under a single slide heading). As mentioned earlier, there "may" be a problem with memory because PTE has to keep an "undo/redo" log which can fill up rather quickly with large memory objects. I found that it was necessary for me to save my work, quit PTE and reopen fairly frequently when doing this type thing. On the slideshow linked below, the last part where the Earth spins on its axis and the Moon orbits the Earth was done this way using well over a thousand images for the spinning Earth. In order to complete the programming, I had to save, exit and re-open PTE multiple times. One can tell when the memory is getting near the point of exhaustion because the mouse action becomes very sluggish. When this happens, it's time to immediately save, exit the program completely then re-open. Here's a link to the file if you want to see it: Link to file Best regards, Lin
  16. Hi Dave, Just press the down arrow beside the default \"Spread\" and you will see multiple preset templates. Choose among them or create your own custom template by changing the parameters then you can save it as a new template which will name and see in the drop-down list. Best regards, Lin
  17. Hi Dom, I'm not sure what the problem was with the links - I could download them O.K., but the one you linked to works fine. One thing users may have issues with is setting the file permissions. Not all FTP software allows setting permissions via right click. In case someone tries this and isn't successful, you can always download the freeware FileZilla FTP software which "does" let you right click on a file located on the server and change permissions. There are two files in those included in your link (clicks.txt & ids.txt) which must have read/write permissions (666 in a Linux server). One can just right click on the file name with FileZilla and then left click on File Permissions and enter the numeric 666 to set proper permissions for these two files. The set-up is pretty simple for those with familiarity with this, but one thing to remember is that when a link is put into the Admin Panel, that link is "NOT" the one to be used for the click link to the file. Go down and read carefully the block marked "Usage" to get the proper link syntax. Best regards, Lin
  18. Hi Jose, If I understand you correctly, I think you will be able to use this one: http://wareseeker.com/Web-Development/clic...-3.5.zip/388270 It is about $15 USD but "should" do what you want - you can try it I think for free then purchase if it meets your needs. The developer doesn't say if it is compatible with XP or Vista, but it "probably" is because it sets on the server as I understand. Also here is a free one which is a "pearl" script. If your server allows pearl scripts this should also work: http://wareseeker.com/Network-Internet/Uni....03.zip/8040791 Best regards, Lin
  19. Hi Fred, That's sad news - I've wondered how Harry was doing but had not heard from him in some time. He will be greatly missed here. Our deepest condolences to his friends and family. Lin & Sherry
  20. Hi Mary, Perhaps the easiest way to have an consolidated list of all the images used in a show is via the Create Backup in Zip feature. Otherwise Stu Rands (nobeefstu) created a "reporter" utility which does many things and can report a list of images, etc. If you PM Stu I'll bet he can give you more details..... Best regards, Lin
  21. Hi Laszlo, Looks great! Best regards, Lin
  22. Hi Eric, It could be that you don't have the DivX codec or perhaps the AVI is trying to open before it is completely downloaded. Try saving the file rather than opening it. Once it is saved then you can select the VLC media Player and then open the file with it. It "should" play just fine with the VLC Media Player even if you haven't downloaded the DivX codec. Best regards, Lin
  23. Hi Josephm, On Project Options, Main Tab, check Synchronize Music and Slides and "do not" check Auto Spread Slides Along Music. Go to the Timeline and click on the Timed Points button then click on Arrange All Points. This should accomplish what you want... Best regards, LIn
  24. Hi Eric, No, I mean the PTE Made Easy series I posted here: http://www.picturestoexe.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=7901 Find the link to the Button Hover AVI and click on it to view the AVI tutorial on buttons.... What I meant was are not Peter's PTE FAQ's the answer to your comment? Best regards, Lin
  25. Hi Laszlo, I see what your problem is now. You don't need a "mask" to do the animation - in fact you really don't "wan't" to use a mask at all for this. Just use the PNG file as an object and you will not have any more problems with opacity. Since a "mask" sees white and black as transparent and opaque to the file below, using the PNG object inside a mask renders opacity depending on the colors in the sword. Skip the mask entirely and just use the PNG file and control the transparency with the opacity control and everything will work fine. Best regards, Lin
