  1. wideangle, I dont quite understand the purpose to rename a file by changing its extention from lowercase to uppercase ? I dont think PTE believes that they are two different files ... just because it warns you to make unique filenames for each if you intend to make a backup zip. Basically its telling you have multiple images with the same filename. Making a backup zip copies all the images to a single directory without folder structure.
  2. Felix, No. You cannot delete the image object from/in the Missing Files Error Screen thats displayed during initial program opening. The Error Screen is just for viewing the info and non-editable. To remove the missing file image of the old image object ... you must first find/select the slide (#) in the Slide list. Open O&A (Objects and Animation button) and select the old image object to delete. A word of caution ... deleting a parent object that has children objects will also remove its children objects.
  3. Felix, The Create Backup in Zip should contain a copy of the .pte file also. Try Create Backup in Zip to test again and verify. To use ... unzip the backup contents and run that backup .pte. Please remember that this new backup .pte file will have the same name as the original .pte ... but the paths contained now match the new backup location files and not the original files path location. Be aware now that PTE program remembers the last opened file ... so make sure you kept in mind which .pte file your working from since they both have the same name. To Fix: Since you have already "re-inserted" another image object to replace the missing image object ... just delete the old image object in the O&A thats causing your issue and resave.
  4. April S. Select the radio button - DVD-Video Disc. In your checkbox options ... you may need to check or uncheck the option to use For Pinnacle Studio. Your version of Pinnacle Studio may have changed/updated its import requirements and the checkbox may no longer be required in PTE options. Also try various checkbox options to see if import to Pinnacle Studio is successful. I have seen newer versions of Unlead not able to import when using the Unlead checkbox. Removing the Unlead checkbox allowed the import successfully. Your version of Pinnacle Studio may be suffering the same issue.
  5. Peter, Expanding on using Al"s approach : An alternative is to insert/add the image as an image object on a blank (black) slide ... instead of making it as a normal slide image. This approach avoids use of invisible buttons or hidden objects ... since now the image object itself becomes the button. Program the Action on Mouse-Click to available actions listed. Multiple possibilites ... for example add 4 image objects on a blank (black) slide for choice selection. Program the Action on Mouse-Click for each image object as required. The 4 image objects are your 4 buttons. The Dom"s suggestion of "at the end of a slide, go to slide # n" ... would indeed expand/addto the flexability options.
  6. Peter, fh1805's post above has the right idea of creating a single image file exe. "IrfanView" can make a nice exe of your single image ... as it has very little overhead as compared to making it with PTE. Other Options : Run a commandline something like this if IrfanView is installed on your pc. Make sure to edit the paths to your own destination paths/files though in the sample command below. The command will open an image in IrfanView in fullscreen. The big limitation is this will only apply to your pc/paths. C:\1Xp_Office\Image_Tools\InfraView\i_view32.exe C:\Documents and Settings\XP\Desktop\alluser.jpg /fs *Also check your Photoshop for any commandlines that may be available.
  7. Robert, From PTEs GUI main menu bar select: Project|Customize Help Message ... this will enable you to edit the content of the message to be displayed in the Help Window. Use the Project Options|Messages tab to edit/rename the default names used on the buttons/captions. It would seem logical that access to the customize of the messages content would be located in the same location for better useability ... but currently its not. I dont believe Ive ever seen a way to alter/change the hot keys actions.
  8. Crickets, Hopefully your upgrade key issue gets resolved soon. That way you can burn directly with Video Builder and avoid the old way of creating a DVD. When did you install the 'AllinOne Codec pack' ? Since you had no problems in the past ... this install possibly may be promoting the issue. The PTE Codec does not create standalone avi files ... you have to use your MPEG4 codec or Cinepak for this type of file. And yes, the quality of these codecs varies ... but they dont match DVD quality output. **What version of PTE v5 are you currently using ? Ive seen posts of some users having issues burning DVDs with the new V5.1 Beta 3
  9. Crickets, Possible Solution: Try the copy/paste routine again of your text mail attachment ... make sure there is no empty spaces captured in the begining and ending of the highlighted text you are copying and pasting into the new Reg.txt Its easy to capture/copy those empty spaces unknowingly ... but they will create a damaged or invalid key error/message.
  10. Brian, I lke your reference/classifcation of the current Vista OS You may be too kind though ... I was thinking of it as Vista ME myself.
  11. Dwight, If you cannot find your registration key by the search approach as mentioned in the above post ... open your XP Windows Registry Editor (Regedit.exe). This is your old xp pc with PTE already registered on it of course. Look/search within the registry tree for this listing: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\PTE ... and your Key is here. Click/Highlight the Key. Use File|Export on the main menu and save the key registration as PTE.Key to a folder of your selection. Copy it to your new pc and just double-click it to install into the new Vista registry.
  12. xahu34, The specs on this card seem to provide the capability ... even though it has the older DDR2 and 128 bit technology. The fanless/heatsink design is nice ... just make sure you have highly efficient case fans for cooling though. Is the resolution a natvie/default 1920x1200 for your monitor ? If not ... it can take a bite into the performance. Best test is to try out PTE v5 firsthand ... build a few shows and see for sure. 13. Go to the final step/compilation page of DVD Builder ... just as you would as if burnig a DVD Disc. Burnig Iso Image only burns to DVD Disc. Select Create ISO Image in the checkbox options and then select your folder destination. Options Avail: Create Mpeg2 Files Create DVD Folder Create ISO Image Burn DVD Disc
  14. Eric, Have you tried out the new feature in v5.1 Beta 2 to see if you can achieve your desired control. Wait for Mouse Click or Keyboard Press for Next Slide - WnSoft Forums http://www.picturestoexe.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=7535 PicturesToExe Deluxe 5.1 Beta 2 download : http://www.wnsoft.com/apr/apr-deluxe_beta.zip (4 MB)
  15. Carol, Have you tried this senario in your v4.48 menu using full screen: -Add your Photoshop image as an image object on a plain black ( or what ever color) slide. This way the Photoshop image is no longer a slide image ... but is now a object on the slide. -Add your buttons, text, whatever -Group all the Objects. The Photoshop image is now part of the group ... and should maintain relative position with the rest of the objects. -You will still see black borders on different screen sizes ... but the view/objects should be consistant. It should appear/look like your previous windowed mode menu ... but this time with a full screen background to hide the desktop. I would still try v5 ... it does offer many new options. It does however have a few limitations of which you may accustom to in using v4.
  16. David, You make a valid point ... users of Vista having this problem should post more details of their pc which may help to localize the issue or find some common denominators. Im sure it would help Igor. Just to begin : -Vista version ? -32 or 64 bit ? -DX-10 or DX-9 drivers ? -Video Card ? -Processor type -Memory size
  17. Websta4, Once the slideshow is compiled ... it is not possible to "futher adjust" the executables content. You will require the original .pte file and PTE program to edit its contents and then compile it again to a new executable. Even if you succesfully extract and decompile its contents ... you will require PTE for editing and re-compilation.
  18. Jane, Just to gather some facts: -Does this new pc have XP or Vista OS ? -What DX version currently installed ? -Is your brand/model 8600GT DX-10 compatable or DX-9 ?
  19. For those of you getting started or need additional HDTV hookup info ... this link may be of help. It also contains a link to download a test/info tool for your HDTV. 20. Jane, I dont use color profiles on my Nvidia and dont know if this will help you ... open your Nvidia Display Properties - Color Correction tab and see if your correct color profile is listed/being used. If not you may need to import it.
  21. Welcome, Angelinne If you make/retain a backup copy of your registration key and related email documentation of PTE purchase onto a floppy, cd/dvd disc or USB stick ... you should be just fine to restore from future drive crashes or reformatting drive. Actually you should make a backup copy of any/all your purchased programs registration keys/docs to be protected. You may also want to backup your pte files and any images/music contained by using Create Backup in Zip function of PTEs File menu ... depending on your archival/retention needs. Hard disc failure can get you when you least expect it ... so backup those critical files routinely.
  22. DarknessUK, You probably forgot to select the For All Users checkbox on the Installers-Advanced Options page as Ken mentions above. Just run installer again ... to same directory location.
  23. Bart, I looked over the 'ACE Mega CodecS Pack 6.03 - Professional Edition' and thats alot of installed codecs. Having too many codecs on your system has been known for promoting corruption/compatability issues. I would completely uninstall the 'ACE Mega CodecS Pack 6.03 - Professional Edition' package ... then reboot. See if your PTE is still crashing/receiving access violations. For the best DVD quality for your needs ... create a file using Mpeg 2 encoding. Since your TmpGenc MPEG-2 encoding capability is expired ... I gather you are encoding with TmpGenc MPEG-1. MPEG-1 is of much lower quality than MPEG-2. MPEG-1 is of VCD quality. PTE-Video Builder encodes MPEG-2 files also ... providing you have purchased the Video Builder upgrade. Select the Create MPEG2 Files checkbox in the last stage of Video Builder ... no need to burn a DVD Disc. Mpeg4 encoding is probably not what you need to use at this time. If 'ACE Mega CodecS Pack 6.03 - Professional Edition' installer allows individual codec selection ... then install just the MPEG4 v2 codec.
  24. Bart, I dont quite understand your processing steps to produce a AVI file of your PTE show. It appears to me you are generating a DVD-Video Disc file in PTE and then using TmpGenc to convert that DVD image to an AVI file. Maybe this is part of your quality issue. Why not directly convert the PTE show to AVI ... using Create Custom AVI File radio button and then select the Video Codec button to use any codecs listed. Use a MS Mpeg4, XviD, DivX if so installed on your system. Click the Configure button to view/set its configuration options available. See which produces the best quailty to fit your needs. If you dont have any of these codecs currently installed ... you will have to download them ( some are freeware, some are shareware) Do a Forum search for the codecs named above to find any possible links to download and use.
  25. Martin, Here is a fast & little known trick to obtain all your music using Audacity Digital Audio Editor. -Open Audacity and use File/Open to select your PTE show exe. -Once the music is imported ... save to any music format or edit as you wish.
