Bart, What version of TmpGenc encoder are you using? I have never used TmpGenc myself, but many of its users claim its produces execellent results. You possibly may need to configure the TmpGenc codec to use less compression to obtain maximum/better quality. After clicking the Video Codec button in 'Make an AVI Video File' window and selecting your TmpGenc codec ... click the Configure button to view its configuration options available. I dont know what quaility is acceptable to you ... but no matter what codec you use it wont reproduce that of the .exe quailty. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TMPGEnc

Download latest version of PTE Delux
nobeefstu replied to Derek Williams's topic in General Discussion
Derek, I suspect you are trying to edit "the word 'Text' in the box" from/on the text object itself ... No can do this way ! After left-clicking the text object ... you need to select the Properties tab on the far right panel of the programs GUI. In this panel you are able to select text type, color, etc, and enter the your own text/title within the editbox. Also do as suggested ... download and read the 'comprehensive Tutorial by Lin Evans & Jeff Evans' -
Fault: Loss of Preview Panel in Vertical View
nobeefstu replied to John-W's topic in Suggestions for Next Versions
John, You mention: I gather you mean you have not found a way to recover the panels/positions other than re-installing PTE ? The only solution I can see to do in this occurance ... is to remove PTEs Apr.ini file completely or if your up to the task edit the configuration/parameter setting relating to panels size/position. The quickest way is just to delete the Apr.ini (close PTE first). PTE will restore the Apr.ini to its normal/default settings when PTE is opened again. This avoids re-installing PTE. file location in XP: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\PicturesToExe\Versions\5.0\apr.ini -
Igor, Nice touch. Can you easily include Button Objects to react in the same manner? Example: Pressed state changes from normal Blue to show as normal Red.

Karma, Does your slide show meet : FAQ Frequently Asked Questions about PicturesToExe Last update: June 18, 2007 1. Question: How many slides can I include to my slide show? Answer: Up to 20000 slides (unregistered version limited to 10 slides). 2. Question: What is the largest size that the generated EXE file can be? Answer: The resulting EXE file can not be larger than 2100 MB (2 GB). I see you have 400 photos ... but dont know your file size (kb/mb) of each to meet the max 2100 MB. Have you properly registered your PTE key code ?

David, Alternatively you can just Map a Network Drive ... right click your desktop 'My Computer' icon to map the drive.

photog1, I dont have a ATI card or use color profiles ... but there might be a work-around you can test to confirm the results. Since the ATI-Color issue is suppose to be relevant in FULL SCREEN modes ... build your PTE show in a WINDOW mode setting using 3D acceleration. -Size the WINDOW mode setting to match your pc monitor. Make sure to enable the Without Border checkbox. Advantages : You get your color profiles using 3D acceleration in what appears to be Full Screen on your size monitor. Disadvantages : Slide show is only sized to your screen dimentions and wont appear Full Screen on different sized screens ... this is pretty much how PTE v4 produced a show.
-
André, Your comment in 1st post: Please clarify ... Are you using Video Builder or Nero to burn the DVD ? Are you saying the DVD looks normal on your monitor when played from your PC ? Have you made any other DVDs using PTE (not using the same pictures) with same flat/matte results ?

Phil, Televisions typically overscan/display an image that is larger than the physical screen itself. This overscan area can be anywhere from 5%-10% and this makes part of your image not viewable on your tv ... the image itself is not really cropped. This helps to hide distortion at the edges of the image, but it also means that part of the image cannot be seen on a television. The part of the image that can be seen on tv is within the safe zone. Read this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Safe_area

Andrew, I agree with you ... If such a implementation becomes or causes a resources hog ... allow user option to enable feature or disable from Advanced Options settings menu. Even some sort of a Tag Indicator/s would be a quick/helpful visual hint that objects or animations exist in a particular Slide.
-
Colin, First ... verify that your issue is from both the Hard Drive and your USB Flash Drive. USB Flash Drives transfer speeds are considerably slower than that of a Hard Drive. USB Flash Drives were originally intended as storage devices ... alot of newer generation of USB Flash Drives have higher transfer speeds that may better handle the running of an application. Flash Drives "typical overall file transfer speeds are about 3 Mbytes/s. The highest current overall file transfer speeds are about 10-30 Mbytes/s." Check your Imtation vendor site for specs on your model flash drive. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USB_flash_drive

fileyman, If I understand your post correctly ... PTE normally does not show any of the objects in the Slide List or the Slide View panels as you would lke to expect. The Slide List panel just shows the main images contained in the slideshow. The Slide View panel just shows the main image currently selected from the Slide List. To see all objects of the currently selected slide you must LeftClick the image displayed in the Slide View panel. A preview screen will appear showing the main slide image and the objects. To edit/add objects to your slide use the Objects and Animation button to open the editor window.

Miles, First, please supply a few basic details of what your trying to accomplish (VCD, SVCD,DVD, or Custom AVI ?) and with what disc media type your using (CDR Discs or DVD Disc ?). If you have burned DVDs in the past ... use that same DVD Disc type (since your burner does not recognise DVD+R Discs as you previously mentioned in your above post). Use Burn DVD-Video Disc button to open Video Builder. You can not just drag a .pte into your Roxio ... you must first render it to a selected video format of your choosing ( VCD, SVCD, DVD, Custom AVI, etc). Use Create AVI File button and select your video output type from the available selections listed and click Create AVI button. Follow the instructions exactly ... PTE must remain open till burned to disc if using Roxio. *Make sure your version of Roxio supports creation of VCD, SVCD, DVD before getting too involved in the process. Read Roxio instructions on proceedures to produce.
-
Miles, If you want to use CD-R discs ... you will need to make a VCD or SVCD and not a DVD video of your PTE show. Use your Roxio6 to burn it to the CD-R disc as Video Builder only does DVD discs. You can use a DVD-R disc. If your DVD burner does not recognise DVD+R try updating your DVD burner Firmware ... find it at your mfgr site.

jongru4, Most occasions of this reported issue were due to disc type/disc brand incompatability with the DVD Player system. DVD Players are not as forgiving and flexable as DVD Writers when it comes to playing/reading certain disc types/disc brands. All DVD Players and DVD Writers are not created equal .... esp so in the older models. Its best to stick with DVD+R or DVD-R discs for best compatability. Most times you do not need to "change the number in the *.ini" ... unless you want a custom look/design to your Menu Template. All the buttons do not have to placed on the first displayed page of the Menu Template. Any additional shows required beyond the templates design are placed on the next page of the menu template. Example : -A 4 button template only displays the amount of shows you imported upto 4 buttons(shows) per menu page. Therefore 3 shows imported would only display 3 buttons on a 4 button template. If 6 shows were imported you would have 2 pages of the menu ... one page with 4 buttons(shows) and the second page with 2 buttons(shows). * You only need to add more buttons per a menu template page if you want a custom look of your menu display. A 2 button template can accept any number of shows as well as a 4 button, etc template can. Its all in the design look you want to achieve ... and how many menu pages you want or dont want to have.
-
jongru4, Please remember that you need not add additional buttons to the Default Templates to have/add additional slide shows to the DVD menu. Example: If you selected a 4 button Default Template and had 12 slide shows to add ... the DVD menu would have 3 pages of the 4 button Default Template to accomodate the 12 slide shows. You have to righ-click inside the menu template view window to be able to see/access the additional menu pages by using the Next Page'Previous Page in the pop-up window.

Geoff, -First find a rectangular button image you like or make one. Use .png files if you want transparency features. You can also find/copy some from your C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\PicturesToExe\Buttons to use. Dont select the oval buttons unless you know how to map the transparent sections ... Ill see what I can come up with ... later. *You will need a normal image and a hover image if using animated menus. -Place the image(s) into your new menu template folder. -Open the Options .ini and locate these 2 lines : [Frame] Image= * paste the name of your normal image here. and H_Image= *paste the name of your hover image here. You should now have buttons in your menu view instead of the slide show image.

Wedford, VolFader is complete except for making a readme.txt and creating a icon. When post responses stopped on this subject ... so did I. It suffices as a workaround till PTE gets its own volume fading abilities. Its only for End of Show then Exit uses ... non adjustable. Send me a PM -Private Message with your email address so I can send it out to you to test. I will upload later if too many inqueries. Readme_VolFader.txt

Splitting slide show into parts with PTE 5
nobeefstu replied to dwill001's topic in General Discussion
Welcome Dave W, Video Builder is not capable to perform your segment operation as your Nero Vision. Video Builder is not a full feature DVD authoring/burning program. Instead of all that copy/paste etc ... think in the reverse of that process. Remove/delete 4 of 5 sections which will remain/create just a single section. Save this as a new pte file. Keep the original unchanged (no saving) ... just close it and repeat the process to create the 5 separate sections. Note: To be safe ... save your original/master copy in a zip. Be sure to do Save As for each segment/section. Do not Save the original/master ... just close it and reopen it again to remove the unwanted sections. -
Barry, I too get the same message error at times when using certain names ... this occurrs even with v5 opening another v5 show. It may be due how our pcs (or Igor) configured to protect against executing certain names known to run harmfull script actions using version 5. Version 4 never did this error. Workaround : Rename your Start.exe to Start_1.exe.

Welcome, Jennifer Blurry is not quite enough info to help you ... begin with a few details on your images (dimentions/ratio) and your process/steps to create your DVD (Video Builder/Create Avi ?) You will find this recent post relative to your issue: Yucky images! Please help! - WnSoft Forums http://www.picturestoexe.com/forums/index....5&hl=blurry The Forums Search is also a valuable tool ... a search for blurry brings up several relative posts on this subject.

speleodave, The PTE codec is not capable/configured to produce stand-alone AVI files ... its intended for import into DVD authoring programs. Most users are satisfied with the results using Microsofts Mpeg4 codec to produce stand-alone AVI files. XviD is a freeware Mpeg4 codec that also produces nice results (in my opinion) *Note: codecs used to compress/encode avi are also required to decompress/decode the avi for playback. Heres a link to download Xvid : http://www.divx-digest.com/software/xvid.html#downloads There are other codecs available ... but you must decide freeware vs shareware. If you have customised your fades for long durations ... lower them to 1500-2000 ms. Avi files can not match the speed/quality of the exe slideshow. To verify if the images themselves are causing the flicker ... disable the image transistions as a test. The MSPlayer itself can also promote flicker : http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsme...e/0064.mspx#E2D

Limey Thanks for the comment on the other Preview possibility. I actually call this window the compilation view ... since the user never really clicks any preview button. One may normally perceive it as a actual preview of the slideshow. I guess more clarification is needed in these situations ... since PTE and Video Builder have various preview possibilities. It also possible he may be using the Create Avi file section which has a preview button ... this would preview/show the actual avi in WMPlayer.
-
speleodave, In building your show ... Disable Hardware Acceleration from the PTE Project Options/Screen Tab: Hardware Acceleration (D3D) checkbox. Verify the Preview again. If issue is resolved ... it indicates your video card performance may not be up to the task. What Codec are you using now to produce your avi ?
-
Al, Im not aware of any programs that can monitor the video card performance in a realtime type mode as you mention ... it would be nice to have such a tool. The gaming sector has numerous benchmarking/performance tools ... but these more or less function in a prescribed/controlled environment and dont allow you to be selective of a specific program you like to monitor. These tools really dont help our needs. Maybe there is such a tool out there somewhere ... and hopefully we can find it
