  1. Hi, DaveG, Sorry that my answer was incomplete. My monitor resolution is 1024x1280. As mentioned, the image pixel dimensions varied. A quick look revealed that they ranged from 848x1200 to 1461x2100, victims as they were, to "quick and dirty" crops. So, I'd have to guess that the show was only sometimes full screen. If you are interested in more detail, I would be glad to zip the project and upload it to MediaFire for you. Your further response would be most welcome. Best wishes, David
  2. Hi, Dave, Thanks for the critique and guidelines. I had been hoping for comments of this kind. Guilty of all charges. The screen resolution is inconsistent, and to be sure, the zoom exceeds your criteria. I'll keep these factors in mind for opus no. 2. I apologize for the rotationally induced vertigo, I should have attached a "scopalamine recommended" warning in the text file along with the resolution attributes. The spinning stamens were shortcuts for that mysterious, reproductive alchemy, a subject that many find sickening anyway. Again, Dave, I appreciate your comments. Thanks for taking the time to respond. Best wishes, David
  3. Hi, Dom, The envelope template is extremely easy to use; the results are superb! Thank you, David
  4. Hi, Dominique, My wife, Becky, who creates nice slideshows with iMovie, is envious that your "Envelope" effect is available for my PC, but not for her Mac. You may have converted her. Great job! David
  5. Hi, Mike, I grab the thumbnail frame and shrink it to the vanishing point. David
  6. Hi, Lin, Wonderful panorama! Would have liked to see more of the mouse at the bottom of the breached kiiva :>) In every aspect, the animation runs smooth as silk on a 256 mb Radeon X600 in 32-bit color mode (Pentium 4: 3.2 ghz). However, the right side of the title text was off the screen (1280 x 1024). David
  7. Hi, Lin, The "subtle," as you say, effects create a most pleasant interlude, and your winter, wildlife shots are welcome additions. I am amazed at the sharp, closeup images of playful coyotes. And thanks for introducing me to the gifted Dan Crary. Best wishes, David
  8. Thanks, Ken, Buying a new gadget is so much fun. Best wishes, David
  9. Hi, Ken, In that case, I can't afford not to try it. Do you recommend a certain model? Thanks, David
  10. Hi, Lin and Ken, Thanks for the help! Lin, the over-worked computer problem makes sense; I remember video card and processor discussions on this subject. None the less, I'll try CamStudio, just in case my computer might have sufficient "headroom". Ken, My office is stuffed to capacity, too, but I would make room for a DVD recorder if I had one. Best wishes, David
  11. Hello, all, I am very happy with the IQ of PTE-generated DVD's on my upconverting Oppo DVD player. Some terrific slideshows, available in .exe format, would be great to watch on a big-screen TV. Is it possible to capture as AVI, the audio/video of a running, .exe slideshow? Some portable computers will output 1080p through DVI or HDMI ports, but I don't have one yet. I know that this forum has some genuine "smart guys,"and I would be grateful for any information/suggestions. Thanks, David
  12. Hi, Neil, I liked this show! In the midst of weathering, vines, and collapse, the stately Handel Sarabande is a haunting reminder of this old estate's former grandeur. The music reinforces detailed images of elegant architectural detail which has not yet succombed to time. The texture is such that I can feel the roughness of peeling plaster and the supple coolness of moss-covered walls. The shadowy photography hints that here, much is hidden. It is effective and moody. Thanks for the show. David
  13. Hi, Andrew, Thank you for your kind words and interest in the show. This is my first slideshow and is an example of "fools rushing in," rather than bravery. The first version used full-sized images and .wav format sound. I liked the result, but the .exe file was 130 mb. After trimming to 34 mb, I could see some image degradation in the zooms, but it was no longer a formidable download. I realize that the above is rather gratuitous, since most/all forum members must have grappled with this, too. For sharpening, I use FocusMagic, a calculation-intensive program that analyses out-of-focus halos and attempts to restore images to an in-focus state. Sometimes, the "magic" works. The program runs on its own or as a PhotoShop plug-in. It offers a preview where you decide how much sharpening to apply. One other program feature: To some extent, you can correct for camera-motion blur. Sometimes, you can salvage one of those "once in a lifetime" shots. http://www.focusmagic.com Best wishes, David
  14. Thank you, Bob, Glad that you liked the "choreography". Aligning the photo-boundary slider with the waveforms made a simple job of it. Good user interface! David
  15. Hello, Peter and all, I've also seen display differences, too, depending upon my choice of browsers. I did, however, notice that the menu image that you posted said, "Account Menu" to the upper right of the orange menu. So I registered at Barry's site, found the "Account Menu," and noticed the same options as on your image (no "forum"). But I did find "forum" listed on the Home Page. So, I suppose that not all menus are created equal. Barry, interesting site. And good news, according to Igor: Vista can't trip us up too badly. David
  16. Andrew, The classy, animated titles and pans were silky smooth on my machine. It may have been my imagination, but on the slopes of the snow-covered peaks, I could see Frodo et al. :>) A beautiful show! David
  17. [Hi, Johnny, I enjoyed your slideshow, with all of the graceful, eye-catching curves. The close-up people and camel provided welcome contrasts. Shows like yours are my window to the world. Best wishes David White (frets3)
  18. Tom, I can see that you had fun building the show featuring veteran warplanes. It was fun to watch, too, with some quite convincing animations of them banking. Nice bouncing bomb as well. Thanks for making it available. Best wishes, David White (frets3)
  19. John, Your show conveys a sense of peaceful isolation. I especially liked: 1. the long, detailed pan near the beginning and 2. the grazing sheep with the deeply rusted, bleak dwelling in the background and the windswept grasses in the foreground. Nice job. David White (frets3)
  20. Dear PTE Family, Thank you for your comments on "Windmill Pond Flowers". The "black zones" are now history, except for the last slide, where the thistle whirls away into oblivion. Oh yes, a couple of new images were added, and some of the animation was reworked. Bill Hines, at Beechbrook Cottage, made it really simple to replace the old show with a new version. Thanks, Bill. http://beechbrook.com/pte/index.asp I sent the link to my daughter, who is away at school. She thought that I had become a technological savant, but I reluctantly admitted that the software is so good that even I can use it. She couldn't wait to download an evaluation copy! Happy tinkering to all, David White (frets3)
  21. Dick, Under these conditions, my DVD's also repeat. I have to be "quick on the trigger" to avoid an immediate replay. David White (frets3)
  22. Hi, Neil, Thanks for the comments. I'm glad that you liked the show. I have seen some inspiring shows from forum members. This was my first, and I want to improve. I'm sure that your suggestion (and TheDom's and Morasoft's) will help. Best wishes, David White (frets3)
  23. Hi, Lin, If your computer were malfunctioning and/or your program corrupted, that would explain why you were stymied. How frustrating! If my remarks seemed patronizing, I apologize. It's obvious from your many informative posts that you know your way around a computer. Best wishes, David White (frets3)
  24. Hi, Dominique, Thanks for the comments. You and Morasoft have given me something to consider regarding "black zones". You are certainly welcome for the link to your site. Anyone interested in slideshows needs to know of your remarkable resources. Best wishes, David White (frets3)
  25. Hi, Lin, I applied all of your motion to one slide, but it appers that TheDom, Tom, and Dave are way ahead of me. None the less, I will send it to you if you'll give me an address. frets3@sbcglobal.net Regards, David White (frets3)
