  1. This is an interesting point. I have just switched to a wide screen lap top and found it necessary to resize the lap top screen resolution to 1024 x 768. Even then I have a problem with a sideways pan using the push effect. Whereas on my old square lap top the pan worked without any visible seam now I get a big black bar between the two frames. Hey ho latest is not always the best.
  2. Hi April When you make the EXE file from PTE you have the choice of keeping it just on your Hard Drive or making a CD which should play on any other computer without the need for any additional software. If you try to run directly from the CD it can sometimes cause problems due to the speed of reading the data as has been mentioned previously. It you run it from your hard drive and it is ok then be happy with that. The sync problem may only arise if you take the CD to another machine. What you have to do in that case is make a new file on the Hard Drive of that computer and transfer the data from the CD into that new file. I suggest you find a friendly neighbour and put it to the test. Mike
  3. Thanks Ian. I will pass on your comments to our expert. Lookforward to seeing you on the 23rd at Wokingham
  4. Hi April (Is that your name or just the Month)? Tell me are you running the CD on another computer or testing it on the originating machine but running from the cd. We find that most times it is best to paste the cd's content to a new file on the hard drive and run the sequence from there. The reason being that the hard drive can be read more quickly than the cd drive. If you are running it on a different computer then if the specification is much different from the one you constructed the sequence on then it can happen that it will go out of sync. Whatever you do don't give up. Mike
  5. Barry. No the music just stopped. The authors tell me that it should have run to the end of the sequence and indeed did so on their kit. Mike
  6. Hi Ken Yes we were running from the Hard disk and had the anti virus turned off. Mike
  7. Has anybody had experience of the latest Lap Tops. I am not a tecnical person but have the use of an Acer Ferrari which I understand is a 64 bit machine. Last night running a series of sequencies the pictures ran perfectly but the sound track stopped some 3/4 minutes into each sequence and remained silent through to the end. One of the audience wondered if it was anthing to do with the fact that PTE is designed for 32 bit systems not 64 and that the lap top was stumbling over all the recalculating it was having to do.
  8. Thanks Ken Having looked at the sites you mention I think I will leave this one to somebody more capable than me. Fiddling with the Registry fills me with fear. Luckily I have somebody who does not mind, so next time he's around I have a job for him.
  9. This is not really a PTE issue but somebody out there may know the answer. Have just changed my Lap Top which I use when showing my AV's. The new one is wireless enabled and state of the art or so I am told by the retailer. However it seems to be blessed with numerous pop ups giving me all sorts of helpful messages like 'it has found a wireless network do I wish to connect' which in normal circumstances is fine but in the middle of a show is B....y annoying. Does anybody know of a way to comit these to a don't go near my desk top scenario?
  10. Thanks Ken The Bishopsthorpe site is a mine of information and and excellent start point for any user of PTE
  11. Thank you all for your replies which have enable us to crack it. As a co-incidence my mate is John Evans not the one mentioned. Bill how do we access the tutorial by J W Evans it sounds interesting?
  12. Hi All A colleague who also uses PTE has posed this one to me and I cannot reslove it so here goes. When he attempts to run a Preview he gets this message.'You should disable personalised music of slides to activate sync by music' In the Sync window he has the Customise Sync radio buttion active and his sequence runs perfectly in the that window so he cannot understand why this happens. In attempting to solve the problem he has discovered that if he selects the 'Not Sync radio button ' it will run in Preview but with the music soundtrack from the beginning not coming in at the third slide as he intends. Any bright ideas?
  13. Thanks Ron and others. I knew there would be an answer.
  14. I am trying to sync slides to the exact length of a piece of music. I have checked the Sync slide show to music duration in the main window. I have also tried checking the Customise sync and the Permit the control of show box but the slides just will not adjust to the length of the music. I guess I am missing something fundamental so help would be appreciated.
  15. Many thanks Dave. What a boon the forum is. Happy New Year Mike
  16. I guess this has been asked many times before but I am a realatively new boy to PTE. Is there anyway to play a full screen preview from a pre determined point. I know it can be done in the sync window but need to see a larger image for a tricky bit of dissolving.
  17. Thanks Maureen Will Do. As Al has mentioned I can drag onto another monitor but cannot work on the main window without closing the Sync window ------- Pity. Thanks Ken I will give that one a go.
  18. Is there anyway that the slide number can be shown under the slide in the construction window. By this I mean the one we drag slides into when assembling a show. I find it irritating when in the synchronisation window trying to relate a slide number to the actual thumb nail image. It would also be helpful to be able to return to the main view window without having to close the synchronisation window. Is it possible to drag the Sync window onto another monitor if one has a dual monitor card?
  19. Thanks Ron. Have managed to get the effect I was after. Great thing this forum especially as I am at last moving away from Pro Show To PTE.
  20. Many thanks Jeff I will give it a go. Mike
  21. I have seen a very soft left to right wipe with no hard edges which I am trying without success to replicate. Can anybody suggest the settings and fade type I should be using.
  22. Does anybody know of a way that one can print a list of the slides used in a sequence?
  23. Thanks Al My files are about 600 to 700 k and I have three or four dissolves in a second. I will try reducing the file sizes. Mike
  24. I am running version 4.20 beta 5. A sequence played in the Customise Synchronisation window runs perfectly when I hit the play button but when I hit Preview it stutters and will not snyc properly. I have tried using the Create button but this still gives a faulty version. An Exe file on Cd also runs defectively. Has anybody any bright ideas as to what is going wrong? I am working on a lap top running Windows XP(home) with 20Gig Hard Drive and 256mb of Ram. The graphics is an ATI Mobility 16mb.
  25. Is it possible to maintain the zoom on the sync window? Every time I replay a section of my sequence the window defaults to it original setting and I want to go in close all the time at the moment. Is it also possible to save from the Sync Window? It seems a bit of a fuss to have to close the Sync and the Options windows before one can save. What is the Update button for on the sync window? Nothing seems to happen when I hit it.
