  1. Thanks Ken I am not too sure but I think it was the version before v5
  2. My desk top computer has a Matrox G400 dual head card and does not seem to like V5. beta 10. I can construct in the time line and customise synchro windows and create an exe file which plays on my lap top. But it will not preview as a full screen show on the desk top computer. I guess the graphics card is not man enough so any suggestion for a replacement would be appreciated.
  3. I believe it is possible to stop those annoying Pop up messages from Windows which always seem to come in the middle of a show. If anybody knows how please guide me with what needs to be done to put them firmly in their box.
  4. Well V5 will not run on my Matrox Millenium G400 AGP video card. Can somebody recommend a dual head card I can use to replace the existing?
  5. Hi Fred Yes it works in v4. In the effects screen I deleted them all using the box in the top right corner and then just ticked the fade box. As I say it was fine in the timeline window but if I played it from the preview button (not the one in the timeline window) it reverted to the default of circle and fade.
  6. Hi verybody playing with V5 A problem. In the timeline window all is well but when played as a preview the piece reverts to the default settings of v5 rather than those I set up in the effects window and I get no sound track. Igors demo runs fine so I do not think my machine is lacking in power or maybe it is? I may just be doing something stupid!
  7. Just to report that Igor's demo of v5 runs well on a HP Pavillion dv5094EA Lap top with just a hint (no more of a stutter) the graphics on that machine are driven by a ATI MobilityRadeon Xpress 200 series card. However on my desk top using a Matrox Millenium G400 AGP (twin monitor) it does not want to run at all and indeed locks up the whole system. Just thought you would like to know!
  8. I have tried to load the demos of v5 as I am anxious to see what it has to offer. However after unzipping and then on clicking the exe file my computer locks up and the only way out is the control Alt Delete routine. Has anybody else had this problem?
  9. This is an interesting point. I have just switched to a wide screen lap top and found it necessary to resize the lap top screen resolution to 1024 x 768. Even then I have a problem with a sideways pan using the push effect. Whereas on my old square lap top the pan worked without any visible seam now I get a big black bar between the two frames. Hey ho latest is not always the best.
  10. Hi April When you make the EXE file from PTE you have the choice of keeping it just on your Hard Drive or making a CD which should play on any other computer without the need for any additional software. If you try to run directly from the CD it can sometimes cause problems due to the speed of reading the data as has been mentioned previously. It you run it from your hard drive and it is ok then be happy with that. The sync problem may only arise if you take the CD to another machine. What you have to do in that case is make a new file on the Hard Drive of that computer and transfer the data from the CD into that new file. I suggest you find a friendly neighbour and put it to the test. Mike
  11. Thanks Ian. I will pass on your comments to our expert. Lookforward to seeing you on the 23rd at Wokingham
  12. Hi April (Is that your name or just the Month)? Tell me are you running the CD on another computer or testing it on the originating machine but running from the cd. We find that most times it is best to paste the cd's content to a new file on the hard drive and run the sequence from there. The reason being that the hard drive can be read more quickly than the cd drive. If you are running it on a different computer then if the specification is much different from the one you constructed the sequence on then it can happen that it will go out of sync. Whatever you do don't give up. Mike
  13. Barry. No the music just stopped. The authors tell me that it should have run to the end of the sequence and indeed did so on their kit. Mike
  14. Hi Ken Yes we were running from the Hard disk and had the anti virus turned off. Mike
  15. Has anybody had experience of the latest Lap Tops. I am not a tecnical person but have the use of an Acer Ferrari which I understand is a 64 bit machine. Last night running a series of sequencies the pictures ran perfectly but the sound track stopped some 3/4 minutes into each sequence and remained silent through to the end. One of the audience wondered if it was anthing to do with the fact that PTE is designed for 32 bit systems not 64 and that the lap top was stumbling over all the recalculating it was having to do.
  16. Thanks Ken Having looked at the sites you mention I think I will leave this one to somebody more capable than me. Fiddling with the Registry fills me with fear. Luckily I have somebody who does not mind, so next time he's around I have a job for him.
  17. This is not really a PTE issue but somebody out there may know the answer. Have just changed my Lap Top which I use when showing my AV's. The new one is wireless enabled and state of the art or so I am told by the retailer. However it seems to be blessed with numerous pop ups giving me all sorts of helpful messages like 'it has found a wireless network do I wish to connect' which in normal circumstances is fine but in the middle of a show is B....y annoying. Does anybody know of a way to comit these to a don't go near my desk top scenario?
  18. Thanks Ken The Bishopsthorpe site is a mine of information and and excellent start point for any user of PTE
  19. Thank you all for your replies which have enable us to crack it. As a co-incidence my mate is John Evans not the one mentioned. Bill how do we access the tutorial by J W Evans it sounds interesting?
  20. Hi All A colleague who also uses PTE has posed this one to me and I cannot reslove it so here goes. When he attempts to run a Preview he gets this message.'You should disable personalised music of slides to activate sync by music' In the Sync window he has the Customise Sync radio buttion active and his sequence runs perfectly in the that window so he cannot understand why this happens. In attempting to solve the problem he has discovered that if he selects the 'Not Sync radio button ' it will run in Preview but with the music soundtrack from the beginning not coming in at the third slide as he intends. Any bright ideas?
  21. Thanks Ron and others. I knew there would be an answer.
  22. I am trying to sync slides to the exact length of a piece of music. I have checked the Sync slide show to music duration in the main window. I have also tried checking the Customise sync and the Permit the control of show box but the slides just will not adjust to the length of the music. I guess I am missing something fundamental so help would be appreciated.
  23. Many thanks Dave. What a boon the forum is. Happy New Year Mike
  24. I guess this has been asked many times before but I am a realatively new boy to PTE. Is there anyway to play a full screen preview from a pre determined point. I know it can be done in the sync window but need to see a larger image for a tricky bit of dissolving.
