  1. Hi Dave, Just read your post and the excellent replies.. For what it's worth I simply select in 'Project options ...... Advanced tab' 'Permit control of show using keyboard' and select 'Hide mouse cursor during show' and then use the pause key on the keyboard to stop at any slide and use the cursor arrow keys to go back and forth to what ever slide you want and then hit 'pause' again to start the music and slides. This allows no wandering cursor during the show and no distractions on the images with total control of the sequence. Any help? Anthony
  2. Hello Michel, Wonderful show. Thank you for sharing this with us all. For me it brought back so many memories of my walking in the French Alps...Mont Blanc and the Vanoise. I was there with you in those images on the same tracks. Unfortunately my photos were slides and I haven't the time or will to scan them all in and make an AV. I look forward to pt 2 Anthony
  3. Gayland, I read this forum frequently and have never seen or felt that 'some' (who ever they are) ever take jabs at the 'less talented' (who ever they are). I think you'll find that many of us consider ourselves average guys. However there are some very learned people who contribute on these pages and from whom we can learn a lot. I for one find your thoughts on this point rather unnecssary and the inference a little insulting. Anthony
  4. Oh boy!!!! I wonder what response we get this post????? Anthony
  5. SP3 or not? Still rumbling on and on... As I posted here a while ago that following advice (here on this site) I took a deep breath and installed SP3 on my AMD desktop and Intel laptop. I have yet to notice any visible difference to the running of either computer. Still starts and closes as before, same speed same everything. More important than anything else though PtE runs just as smoothly. Was it necessary.?..I don't know. Anthony.
  6. Hello Igor, This looks great..What next I wonder? I look forward to the 'cool text' effects.. Well done Anthony
  7. Hi John an Peter, I'm sure it isn't only the two of you who find this limitation on 'text' a little irritating. As you say to have control over the text and it's attributes within the image itself seems such an obvious solution. How hard for Igor to incorporate this I have no idea but would be surprised if it were that difficult considering their skills and genius.. We already have the option to change to PNG status so it would make life that much easier. We will wait and see on the forthcoming versions. Anthony
  8. Hi Barrry, Are you looking for a fight now you're a year older? Anthony
  9. Good morning Yachtsman 1, Regarding your understandable reluctance to install SP3. A simple question to you..... Does your computer have an 'Intel 'processor? If so then you shouldn't have any problems. The problems seem to arise with AMD processors. I am not aware that SP3 has any effect on PtE provided the computer is working properly. If you do decide to go ahead then I urge you to google in 'Jesper's blog' and download the 'removal tool' It couldn't be simpler. Anthony
  10. Hello Yachtsman 1, Follow the links from Xaver and Brian (Conflow) as these seem learned chaps. I downloaded 'Jesper's Blog' via google the 'removal tool'. I have since downloaded Sp3 on my AMD processor and all works fine including PtE5.5.. Have faith it can be done. Anthony
  11. Hello Brian, Just read your post and allowed a small smile to myself. After warning other 'XP' users about these potential problems on another related forum of which I enjoy being a member I had a number of posts (replies) about leaving it all to Microsoft as they know best.....? I take no comfort in my friend's computer crashing but it does somewhat justify my caution and taking care before I installed SP3 which as I say seems to be fine and my system working as it should. Thanks Brian. Anthony
  12. Hi Xaver, Regarding your comments on installing SP3 for XP. You will remember the posts on this particular subject a few wks ago. Should we or shouldn't we install?...mainly relating to AMD processors etc etc. Well as I have an AMD I took your advice and went to 'Jesper's Blog' and downloaded the removal tool on his site. THis basically detects the type of computer one has and identifies the 'intelppm' (whatever that is ) and then SP3 can be installed. SP3 was installed and all is fine and ok. However a friend of mine only this week with a AMD tried to install SP3 and had horrendous 'crash reboot crash ' problems and needed professional help to rectify the problems. So there is a very real potential problem with it and some processors. I am indebted to you Thanks. Anthony
  13. Brian, Just read your post and immediately saw the potential of this facility. When using the 'start up ' window the desktop would always show behind. Not so in PtE 4.8 where we had the option of choosing the background. However before I downloaded your link I thought I would just check on selecting the 'Start up 'window again as I haven't used it with 5.5 and blow me down I cannot seem to get it show at all in 'preview' or as a finished Exe file. Is it me or has this changed in this version. I will keep trying but would welcome any suggestions from you learned chaps. Anthony
  14. Hi, A lot of thought and effort has obviously gone into making this sequence. Well done for that. There's nothing like a bit of road rage and shooting to show brotherly love?????? Anthony
  15. How interesting that Barry has brought up this thread and the subsequent debate at this time. At my Photographic Society the last meet of the year in April was our very first AV competition. For all our members digital AV is a very new and exciting arena to showcase our images. However the visiting judge (who I will not name ) but seemingly a wellknown AV judge with a background mainly in music editing with the BBC no less opened the evening with his remarks on judging and scoring and his wants and opinions on how AVs should be created, ie, the idea/conception, then the choice of music and finally to go and take the images. I immediately felt 'here we go again'. Exactly as Barry and others have said......'Why must the so called establisment in the photographic world dictate their narrow opinions which in my opinion go only to stifle creativity and possible hinder and curb the enthusiasm of ''ordinary'' members. What is this obession with competitions? Why cannot we just enjoy at club level an array of individual AVs as we can on this and other forums where we all submit our own and inevitably varied sequences without the need to follow opinionated and bigoted guidlines set out by these sad and irritating people. Anthony
  16. Brian, Thank you. Anthony.
  17. Hi to all you clever computer folk, Having read with a little worry about the SP3 downloads I also turned off the automatic download settings. As SP3 is now delayed should I turn it back on? Can you give us adequate notice when it is about to be on the scene so to speak so I can then turn it off again. We look to your guidance Anthony
  18. Whilst it is obvious that Igor and his team are not writing this software for one or a few selected users it is important that individuals that are experienced exponents of the program can make detailed suggestions on improvements towards the final version. Igor can only do what is possible within the bounds of technology available to him, (and what an incredible job he does in accomodating so many of the suggestions so quickly). But surely the whole point of the 'Forum' and the 'Beta' versions is to discuss the myriad ways and techniques of creating the final object....ie an AV presentation. I for one learn a lot about the various methods out there whilst reading these threads. So keep it up. I'm sure that the finished software will be be the best it can be.. ( you cannot please all the people all....etc etc etc... Anthony.
  19. Hi Barry, You already know my views on this new wonderful show of yours (posted on Beckhamdigital). I just want to pick up on a comment you made above about 'having good equipment etc etc ...and the person behind the lens etc etc..' Well the best comment I've heard to make the point that it is the photographer and not the equipment (unless of course you are a blind man using a pinhole cameras) ...is After a splendid meal with friends one doesn't normally thank the host saying ''That was lovely...you must have a really good cooker?'' Does one. Anthony PS By the way Barry can you cook?
  20. Thank you Igor. Your response to all is unbelievable. So many suggestions from so many people. I like the pixel size amendment in the status bar. Thanks. Anthony
  21. Hello Igor, My goodness. You do respond so quickly to your public. I do like the new look but with a few reservations as have been highlighted by the numerous posts already. In total agreement with Barry and another regarding the timeline functions whilst creating 'on the fly' slideshows. If I may say without diminishing all your excellent hard work the new beta2 goes halfway towards addressing the problems even though 'Cut all transitions' just seems to move them all to the right hand end of the timeline I feel that it is imperative that we can see the image (whilst being inserted in the timelime) in the preview window to have total creative control over the production of the show as we can in 5.1 and earlier versions. Is it not possible to 'delete all transition points' to start with an empty timeline or is it to inextricably tied to the slide line. I hope it doesn't sound carping but it is so useful to have the pixel size of the image in the preview window whilst running through the images in the 'slide line' along the bottom. I realise we can see individual sizes from clicking on the top icon and seeing the size in the new box that comes up and also when select from the simple images but we don't always put all these images in the slide line. You appear to still have all your hair .......will you start to lose it with all these rumblings Igor. You are doing a fantastic job on amazing software. Anthony.
  22. Hello John, Any photos and shows of Scotland will always have me downloading ASAP as I so love the country and the people. I have been to Skye many times and thoroughly enjoyed your images up in the Sanctury, Prison and the Table etc in the Quirang and on the ridge. So many memories.... I would agree with some of the comments posted by Barry in particular regarding the speed of the pans. When we enjoy such vistas in reality we move our eyes slowly to soak up the view, atmosphere and the beauty of the place but I felt that these pans were a little rushed. A couple of minor points if I may. Regarding the titles...I think that each title should be allowed to fade completely before the next one appears. Unlike an image where the superimposition of the following image can blend (even create a 'third image') smoothly, text by virtue of it's shape and the fact that we are reading it cannot blend so easily and can be distracting. Just a personal view. Also the frame remained on screen long after the show ended. Was the 'Close show after last slide' ticked in the Main Tab in the Project Options box? Maybe this was intentional? Thank you for posting a lovely show Anthony
  23. Hello, I do not know where Skelton is but I found the show delightful and very well done. As was mentioned before the one thing that crossed my mind whilst watching was whether it would have been easy to superimpose some of the images so the 'old' fades out with the 'new' fading in. The narration was very easy on the ears and even as a stranger to the area I found it very interesting to see the changes. The background etc is down to personal choice. A good show. Anthony
  24. Hello Igor, Thank you for replying to my post of yesterday. And also thanks for listing the proposed improvements to the next beta version. With so much going on I'm sure my small request can wait for a later version. It is so impressive when the users get a chance to have such an input into the released version of such great software. I'm sure Bill Gates didn't ask his public? Thanks for all your hard work. Anthony
  25. Hi Igor, The new beta version would seem to please many PtE supporters along with myself with the new additions that you and your team are including. Do you recall my question of the 'Start up window' against a background and not the computer desktop as 4.48? Will this beta have this included ? Just a thought. I certainly look forward to seeing the new version. Undoubtly a lot of hard work. Well done Anthony
