  1. A point of interest....AVG 12 For those who have downloaded the updated version will find the layout a little different. The difference for me was the apparent omission of the 'Resident Shield' on the main page. This is where to place exceptions to avoid having everything and the kitchen sink scanned each time creating annoying delays on opening AVs etc. The resident Shield is there but found under 'Tools' and 'advanced settings' Anthony
  2. I am with Peter on this. I will wait until issues with AVG are resolved. I have XP and V 7 and very briefly a Trojan horse notification appeared whilst running through an established project file that was created with 6.5. I dumped it into the vault and touching wood with fingers and legs crossed nothing else seems to have happened. However I will stay with 6.5 for the foreseeable future. Hopefully the slide duration issues will be sorted too. I appreciate that Igor needs the responses to solve any problems but they do seem somewhat confusing to me. Good luck to all and Igor. Anthony
  3. DG. Yes all the options in PtE are set correctly. I have tried a new test sequence in V 7 and it works as it should ie, opening any selected image from the slide line into PS immediately. But as I said yesterday with some previous projects it doesn't. There are no obvious differences in the various projects so I am confused why this should be the case. However as long as it works with a new project I am happy (although still very confused). Thanks guys for your input. If I work it out I will let you know what it is. Anthony
  4. Thank you for your comments, Just another little point..... When I try to open an image from the slide line it will always open Photoshop (if not aleady open) and bring up PS on the monitor but from some AVs not the actual image itself. Still puzzled. Anthony
  5. Re ..my previous post of 10 minutes ago.. I have been playing with this and for whatever reason some AVs opened in V 6.5 and also V7 will behave in the desired way ie, images will open from the slideline into photoshop, however some AVs do not. Why this should be I have not the slightest notion. Is it the way the AV was put together, on my laptop or the desktop? Was it raining at the time? Life would be boring it it all went to plan. Anthony (bemused)
  6. Regarding the facility of using Ctrl and W to open images into photoshop from PtE. I have just picked up on this thread but I feel I need reminding......Is it only possible to use this shortcut on images selected from the slide directory and NOT from the actual slide line along the bottom? I feel sure I could previously select an image from the slideline and amend it in PS. I have selected 'the graphical editor' in 'View & advanced etc' and also my images on the computer will open in photoshop normally. Is it my senility or is something amiss? Anthony
  7. Windows XP. Downloaded fast and works. Thank you Igor Anthony
  8. Hi Mike, Another wonderful place for tutorials and understanding how to do anything in PtE is via Barry Beckham..at.Beckhamdigital. Anthony
  9. I have to agree with Barry in that this thread is a little confusing. However I think it may go towards answering a query /situation I've experienced with a recent AV I put together. The last slide contained a lot of animation with quite a number of objects. The AV finishes as expected but then the black fade out stays on the screen for a considerable time before the computer desktop reappears. I have double checked all the usual parameters and settings in the Project Options and compared this AV to previous AVs and have found no reason why this particular sequence doesn't finish as soon as it should. This is not a major problem in itself but a little annoying that I do not understand why it happens. But I think what Igor has said and his intentions for the next beta or so may well iron out this hiccup. Anthony
  10. Igor, Thank you for your speedy reply. I will await the final version of 7 before I seriously play with the video tools and options etc. Another learning curve for many of us but enjoyable at the same time. Anthony
  11. Igor, I have just picked up on the 'video converter' that Barry has brought up. Excuse my ignorance but is this a device which will reduce the size of the video file used in the AV? This would be very necessary as the short video files I have experimented with so far are extremely large even for a very short clip. Anthony
  12. Great pictures Barry, as always well put together and presented with sympathetic transitions and music. 'A short promotional slideshow' as stated on the forum page. I agree totally with Kieron (Admiral) how along with many on this forum (experts or otherwise) they have helped me enjoy this software from Igor and have inspired me to take my photograhy in this direction. Barry has been instrumental in this with his excellent tutorials. Eric, Why on earth wouldn't you accept a free tutorial CD from Barry? You may not get another chance! There is always so much more on these cd's than the label suggests covering some many interesting techniques and tips. Go for it!!!! Anthony
  13. Hi Barry, I do agree with you about using the left hand to insert an image would be better as we could with space bar but I just hold the wacom pen whilst I'm pressing the Insert key and it's fine. When I type any letter or any text I usually have the pen in my hand anyway so you do get used to it. Who would think you were picky Barry? (apart from Carol of course!) Carolyn's Dad
  14. Igor, Beta 3 now works perfectly with the AVI video from my Canon S80. Very smooth. So impressed. Thank you. Anthony
  15. Hi Barry, Just briefly read your posts on V7. One point I would make regarding your method of inserting images on the fly having 'cut all transitions' as you do and I think that many others do also. I often use the 'Insert' key (near the 'Delete' key on my keyboard) to put images into the timeline as this is a easier method than hovering over the 'new transition' button for precise placement. I have checked and this option is still working on Beta 1. I too am having trouble with the playback of my video from my canon with it working fine in Mediaplayer. But I'm sure this will be ironed out in due course. Anthony
  16. Igor, Just a very little ommision in my view on V 7 unless it will be incorporated in the final version. On previous versions on the left of the File tree window there was a small ''switch '' to collapse the tree instead/as well of Ctrl+G. This I found most useful having just selected the files required I would then just touch the button with my curser and the tree would go. Is this difficult to keep in the new versions? Anthony
  17. I am sure my issue is not a bug but a user problem but this seems to be the place to ask about it. When I insert a video clip made with my Canon S80 it plays as I would expect but with no sound. The 'Mute audio' box is unchecked in the properties tab of the O&A window. It is an AVI file and that is as far as my understanding of videos goes. Is the lack of sound of the clip due to there being no sound file in the music tab in the project options box? What am I missing or doing incorrectly? Anthony
  18. Hi Davey, Very very pleasing AV. The music was spot on. It might well inspire me to finish an old sequence that I started a couple of yrs ago having watched one of Barry's AV's with the textured background. Thank you. Anthony
  19. Hello and good morning Peter, Thank you for your reply and thoughts on the subject. Coupled with these and a kind reply personally from Brian(conflow) I feel that I understand this discrepancy that we see. It is all due to the exe file having to contain much more than the basic size of images and sound plus the addition of PZR etc and all adds up into a 'gigantic mass of binary code' to facilitate playing on other machines. It is academic and possibly very boring to most others so we have probably exhausted this subject now.But I do like to learn as much as I can about the software before my brain gives up completely. What a great place this forum is. Thank you for your interest Anthony
  20. Peter, After replying to you posing the question I went and turned on the computer. Then checked the file size in the window with the music and then without and lo and behold it changes. That makes sense....no problem. Simply Peter just look at the file size of one of your projects in the main Pte window and then rt click on the created exe file to check properties and see file size there. My intial question was to ask why this should be so different. It isn't a big issue but just seems odd to me ....perhaps I am missing something very obvious. Whilst writing this to you I have just gone back into a number of folders with both projects and exe file and compared the said file sizes and sometimes the exe file is actually smaller than the expected size in the window prior to making the exe file. I think I should give up. It is seemingly academic and perhaps of no consequence. A bemused Anthony
  21. Hi Peter, I didn't take Brian's answer to my question to explain the difference between the project file and the exe file. I fully appreciate the difference between the two. My query was simply why does PtE state one figure in the main window and yet once created the file of the exe is larger. I am only using at the moment 6.5 and have been since it's introduction. I have only used Jpegs and PNGs in the show, no text . Are you saying Peter that the figure we see in the window doesn't include the sound file in the show even though they are integral to the show at that stage? I understand Brian's reasoning that there is extra load and programming to run a show on any other system but it still surprises me. Anthony
  22. Thank you Brian, I understand now.But there does seem to be a big discrepancy between various shows in that difference of file size. However it does answer my question. Anthony
  23. To all you bright people. This may well be a very dumb question.....? Why when the file size in the PtE window along the bottom states one figure but on creating the Exe file this turns out to be considerably larger? I have checked on a few previous shows with both the pre exe size and the created exe size and there is perhaps 1 or 2(at the most)Mbs difference. However I have just made a very short show reading 13.9 Mb in the window of PtE to find the Exe file is 20.5 Mb. In this particular show there is a fair amount of animation and I wonder if somehow this isn't reflected in the size shown along the bottom. The music files I have used are very small as the show only last for 50secs in total. Anthony
  24. Igor, Your thoughts on having a curve facility in the animation is wonderful.I really hope this can be done. Anthony
  25. Hi Joe, If I understand your question correctly it is very easy . Have the 'text' and 'picture' as two separate objects in the O & A window. Simply fix the keypoints for the 'picture' to zoom as required and the text as a PNG file without any keypoints so it will remain static wherever you put it. press play and the image zooms and the text doesn't. Is this what you are wanting to do ? Anthony
