  1. DaveG, I too would go along with a 'switchable' option ...anything that might make things a little easier to identify the new images. I totally agree with keeping PTE as simple as we can for basic use. Anthony
  2. Back again, I don't really think that the bold type answers the initial point raised by Barry. When I insert a new amended image it may well sit between other unused images. So none of them would have bold type. I still think the 'coloured'frame of 'new' inserted images would be good. However, maybe many might think these ideas are not strong enough for Igor to incorporate against some of the bigger issues for the next version? Anthony
  3. DaveG, I cannot believe that I had never noticed that. Thank you for pointing it out. Anthony
  4. I certainly think that Barry has put forward an excellent point. I have often found that this is more than a little annoying when you cannot locate the 'changed or new inserted image amonst 100 others in the file panel. Perhaps the suggestion by 'Nobeefstu' of the frame of the new amended slide being different would be the preferable answer as all the othe slides would still be visible too. this would save looking for a number or name of slide. Also I had no idea that if changed to the text listing the bold type indicates the used slides. We live and learn constantly from this forum. Anthony
  5. Well JJR, you certainly started something. I tried adjusting the hardware Acceleration via settings (control panel) and found little difference and also turning off the same in the Project options Screen tab to see if that had the same effect. Again no difference to the stuttering. I use Auto scroll 1 and will continue and be happy. However regarding the miniplayer pause issue that has been noted I have found that a right click over the player ( I use a pen and pad so I don't even have to touch the pad) takes me directly into a full screen preview. This is wonderful. Perhaps this is a shortcut that others use all the time? It is new to me so I'm grateful to have found this. Maybe Igor gives us too many choices and options 'Scroll 1' and 'Scroll 2' etc....? Is there any real difference in either in the production and creation of a sequence? I don't know. Anthony
  6. Hi JJR, Having seen a similar 'stuttering' to this morning on 5.6 on one particular project file, I tried the same on 5.5 and it ran smoothly. Also all my other projects run smoothly on both 5.5 and 5.6. on auto scroll 2. Why just that one should be jerky I have no idea. In answer to DaveG's point my graphics card and ram are more than enough to run everything I have done so far on PtE. I wondered if the file size on any image would be the reason or whether PZR might be a cause too but I have checked this with various projects and all are smooth. As I said this morning I set the timeline on auto scroll 1 so I do not have problem at all. Perhaps this is a minor glitch which you can live with? All the best. Anthony
  7. Hello JJR, I thought your post was interesting so I turned on 5.6 to see what setting I used as I hadn't experienced your situation. I have mine set to auto scroll 1 so I changed it to 2 and see a similar jerkyness that you see. The blue arrow seems to stop for a second at various transitions however the miniplayer isn't affected. Something to do with one's graphics card perhaps? As I don't use this setting normally it won't upset me but I'm sure we will hear the reason shortly. I'm off to the dentist now. Anthony.
  8. Hello DaveOR, I brought up this very same topic just after version 5 came out. With the previous versions I could make a background of my own choosing for the start up window to rest on without the clutter of desktop icons etc. When Igor picked up my post asking for help (the same as you) he replied that it was no longer a feature in the new version but would endeavour to include at a later date. To my knowledge that has yet to happen. So good luck with the suggestions you've received. Anthony
  9. Nobeefstu, Again thanks for the info.... I have no idea whether the request is possible and we all know how many requests Igor has to cope with don't we???? (and I don't live in Iran) Anthony
  10. Eric, What a delightful sequence. I thought the photography was lovely and the voice and poems super. It makes a very pleasant change from so many of the AVs I seem to dowload these days. This one I will keep on the desktop. Thank you. Anthony
  11. Thank you Nobeefstu, That is interesting and later on I will follow it up to see how it works. I felt there must be a reason for it's inclusion as there seems to be for everything in PtE. However I would still like to see the facility of opening the sound editor of one's choice straight from PtE. We'll see. Anthony
  12. Hello Igor, While we are discussing 'sound' issues may I bring up again the possible inclusion at some stage (next version hopefully or soon after) the ability to move from PtE to our sound editor ie, Audacity with a selected track open as we do with Ctrl /W to open image editing program with a selected image. In the View menu..Advanced options....'Path and name of sound editor'. What is this for? Is my request which I know many others would also find very useful possible? Thank you for all the tremendous work you and your team do to create this super program. Anthony
  13. Hi Hawk, I have double checked that PNG files will open in photoshop outside of PtE. but I have isolated one aspect of this problem....being that any project in the PtE slide line containing PNG files will not allow any images in the slde line to open in photoshop with Ctrl W and this includes the Jpeg images. I will now go upstairs and try my desktop (on my laptop at moment with this problem). Anthony
  14. Super quick reply Yachtsman, thank you. No stage fright at all. It has always always worked before and still does on most project files but not all????? Anthony
  15. I have a very strange and perplexing problem that I have never experienced before. I am about to give a demo of PtE tomorrow evening Monday 12th Jan at my club. On some PtE projects I cannot with the shortcut Ctrl W move an image from the slide list into Photoshop. It will work on other projects from the slide list and always from the images next to the miniplayer. On Ctrl W photoshop will open but no image appears. Why? I have never had this before and have no idea why this is happening. Any ideas? Anthony
  16. Hello Jean, As Yachtsman has said the issue with Service Pack 3 was indeed with the type of processor, ie, a pentium or AMD. I have an AMD on my desktop and Pentium on my Laptop. I have installed SP3 on both but with caution on the desktop and all works well. PtE was never an issue with it as far as I knew. The problem was that AMDs would sometimes loop into a crash/reboot situation with SP3 installed .A friend of mine experienced this so I did see it first hand. If you have pentiums you shouldn't have a problem. Anthony
  17. Thanks Ken .Very funny. The site is too. I have saved it. Anthony
  18. You may have the wrong 'prophet' in this case ken! Anthony
  19. Hi Colin, One thing that crossed my mind was that you had yesterday's bird song still open and that whipped through each time you pressed play. But you say that you have pened other tracks and the result is the same. Totally baffled....I'm sure it is something simple but I'm sorry I'm at a loss with this one. Someone out there will be able to help I'm sure. Anthony
  20. Hello Colin, Many of us use Audacity for music editing in PtE with great success. I have never experienced the problem that you have at the moment so I haven't a ready answer for you. Can I presume you have the selection tool curser at the beginning of the whole piece when you play and not close to the end of the track? Whilst replying to you at this moment I have Audacity up and running to see if I can understand what is happening with you. A simple question... Can you see the cut to 2 mins happen on the track as you cut it and also see the fade out on the track when you select 'Fade out'. Also have you unselected all the track when you finally play. I hope my comments are not too confusing. Let us know how you get on or come back with more info. I'm sure you will have it sorted out in no time. Anthony
  21. Thank you Ken. Absolutely fascinating. How from a childhood dream with his father in the darkroom through all the stages of developement to reach the wonderful sotware that we have now. And on top of all that he comes across as a really nice guy. Thanks Ken for putting this document on the site as it makes most interesting reading
  22. Hello Mary, Thank you for your response and clip. Very enjoyable. The images on the leaves towards the end I have been doing using layer masks via photoshop for a while now but I now can see the possibilities of masks with animation . Plenty of food for thought here. However as with so many of the new 'tools' that Igor introduces they have to be used judiciously as often the 'less is more ' rule applies. Again thank you . Anthony
  23. I have been reading these current threads on masks that Barbara initiated and thanks to Peter's explanation I too have now begun to understand the potential of them. Though at this stage I am not too sure of how I might use them in an AV. However following the PtE files All\ examples \Welcome demo I can see how they perform. Thank you Anthony
  24. Hello Patrick, A wonderful place to live close to especially during the autumnal months. I enjoyed the 'pattern' pictures very much. But like a few others I found the choice of music a little strange to say the least. I appreciate that we all 'see and hear' differently to each other but my thoughts on watching this short sequence is that some more gentle and pastoral music would have been for more suited to the beautiful colours and the shape of the landscape in the photographs. Also I find the various transitions an interesting aspect. Personally I would have used just the 'fade'. However this is your choice and thanks for putting it out for us to share. Anthony
