  1. I have done the same & all OK.
I have recently updated a 20 minute project containing several Video clips from 10.5 to 11 with no problem.

I always work with Full Duration - OFF  and Adjust Keyframes with Duration Change - OFF

DG I believe you work with these setting ON

    Could this cause a problem?

  2. Good Luck

When I am moving to a new version of PTE I always save a copy with a different name.

So if anything does happen I can then go back to the previous version of the project & start again.

The .pte file is so small it pays to keep saving with different names at regular intervals.

  3. When you changed the Transition to Dissolve did you make sure to click on OK before closing the Slide Options Window?

I only mention this as it is something I have done myself.
I am so used to clicking on the X to close the O&A window, that I just automatically do it for other windows such as the Slide options forgetting to cick OK first.

Still not sure why the Transitions would have changed to the Displacement Map ones.

The easy way to mute a Track is to press CTRL+M and the CTRL+M again to unmute.

  4. Looking at your image above it does not show duplicates?
The first is Track7 & the second is Track9.
Have you tried deleting in the Audio Tab of Project Options?
Double Click on a Waveform & it should up.

PTE11 will not have overwritten 10.5, both versions can exist seperately & still be used.

I have never had any trouble with Audio & often have several Tracks and sound clips.

  5. If you select all the Objects that have Run Slideshow at once, then yes you can change them all to 'Run Application or Open File' in one go.

I have just tried it - in PTE11 - with Text Objects, don't know if it works with Buttons as I never use them.

I always use Run Application as for Competitions etc I can get files made with many different versions of PTE as well as different programs.

The only difference is that you will get a very slight 'Flash' as the show starts, this is a Windows thing & can't be avoided, but isn't that noticeable.
With Run Slideshow you do get a smooth transition to the Show from the Menu

If you set your Menu to 'wait for Key Press to show next slide' then it will stay on the Menu Slide until you press the right arrow key on the keyboard to move to the next Slide or if there isn't one then it will exit the Menu.
Your Slideshow will run & it will return to the Menu.

  6. For your Menu are you using Run Application or Run Slideshow?

If you use Run Slideshow then all exe's & Menu need to be published using the exact same version of PTE.
If you use Run Application then it doesn't matter which version they were made in.

So if you make a change to one of them you only need to re publish that one file
And if you give it the same name then you don't even have to change your Menu.

    Hope this helps

  7. It will depend on your Project aspect ratio
    I assume you are using 16:9  with a final output size of 1920 x 1080 ?

If your videos are all 512x512 then I think it is just a case of doing some math!!

Each Object has the Centre point at 0:0 and if it is also 1920x1080 then at 100% will fill the frame.
I never actually look at the numbers & like you have done it by trial & error until it looks right.

I did do something similar a couple of years ago & ended up creating an image in Photoshop which had coloured rectangles for each video to the size I wanted.
I then just adjusted the images/videos in PTE to fit over the spaces.
Once I had it how I wanted I then removed the background image.

I am sure that those who do work by numbers rather than visually will come up with a method of calculating it.

    All my attempts

at putting a PNG on the timeline result in a black silhouette on a black (or gradient) background

Adding your png to the Slidelist or Timeline will result in it being shown against a black background.

You need to add your video or whatever image you want in the background to the Timeline.
You then click on this image & go into Objects & Animation, this is where you add your png image & it will appear above your video.
You then add keyframes to adjust the Opacity of the png to make it fade in & out over the Video.

I assume this is what you are trying to do?

Hope this helps, it really is easy once you get the idea.

I can reproduce this problem only in Windows 11. And all is OK with Windows 10.
Jill do you observe this issue on Windows 7 or Windows 11?

Thanks Igor, this problem is now solved.
Even Slides with lots of Objects now show straight away

My Laptop is Win 7, I don't have any Win 11 devices

    Jill

  10. My Laptop does the same in 11 - No Objects appear when I go into O&A
But if I move the mouse then they appear.

I tried 10.5 & that was also slow for any Objects to appear in O&A

In 9 they appeared instantly and when I went back to 10.5 that then also seemed to work quicker.
With 11 they still don't appear until I move the mouse.

With just a Blank Slide then the Blank appears straight away.
But as soon as I add anything, even just a single Text Object & go back into O&A nothing appears until I move the Mouse.

I haven't reported this before as I just thought it was my Laptop which as you know Igor does strange things sometimes.
Not done much on my Desktop recently but don't recall having any problems in 11

  11. Hi Mike

For the Links to work on any PC you need to remove the Path Name & just leave the File Name in "Double Quotes"

So if you are trying to run "C:\My AVs\Show1.exe" then change it to "Show1.exe"

You then need to make sure that the Menu.exe (Landing Page) is in the same folder as all your shows.

Looks like Dave was replying at the same time as me

  12. Did you save the download as a separate file with a different name?

Also check that you are clicking on the correct Icon to run it.
It may be that you are launching the old Beta version instead of RC3

RC3 just says Version 11 (4 bit) when you click on Help/About - there is no Release number shown

Jill, glad to see your special video using new creative possibilities of PTE 11!

Thanks Igor, all created in PTE 11 with Vector Icons and a few Rectangles. It was an interesting challenge to see what I could do.

It all worked well and smoothly but I did notice that once I had a lot of Objects changing the Object Name took a very long time to display the letters as I typed them.
It was made on my Laptop which as you know is quite old & not that powerful.
Took 5 minutes to render the video which is only 1:30 long.

I was also surprised that the exe file was 33.5 mb but that may be the Music, the MP4 is only 8.7 mb.

The Vector Icons create a lot of possibility.

clubs that engage in competitions and I expect that is where you would go crazy with the effects.

This is exactly the time when you avoid all of the effects.

Less is More and the emphasis is on getting your message/Story across without the distraction of too many Transitions.
Mostly the straight Dissolve, Page Wipe or Circle Transition with soft edge are used.
Unless it actually adds to the Story, then the images/narrative should speak for themselves, otherwise the viewer ends up wondering what trick the maker is going to perform next rather than concentrating on the message.
