Have you set up your new laptop to make sure it is using the Nvidia card for PTE.
Also are you running on mains power not battery.
I have an Acer laptop & I find that even though it is set to always use the Nvidia for PTE it will revert to the Intel chip when running on battery.
So I have to plug it in when I want to publish an MP4 for instance.I haven't found any problems with using video within PTE, although when using small sections from a 90 minute video in several places it did stutter a little sometimes in preview.

No, you need to set up Text Animation individually.
You can however set it up for the first Text Object & then Copy & Paste that Object to all the other Slides that you need & just change the Text.
But depending on the Animation, you may find you need different timings depending on the length of Text.

Mark, on my 1920x1080 display there were grey bars at each side - due to the fact that you were sending a 16:10 ratio image & I was receiving it & displaying on a 16:9.
Some AV's were losing part of the image, text was displaying outside the frame or missing part of it.Some seemed to be stretched vertically - had a black band at the top but not the bottom, although the actual image didn't appear stretched.
Also when the on screen display flashed up at the start it was showing - display at 90% or words to that effect.
So I don't think it was displaying the full pictureBy using VLC player you shouldn't get any of these problems.
However your 16:10 display will always show grey bars at the side on a 16:9 screen.
If other people didn't see these it will be because their screen ratio was most likely 16:10Hope this helps

you need to split the clip (right click & choose Split) at the point you want to repeat & then Duplicate it (right Click)
Move the duplicated bit to the point you want.
It may be better to move the split part & then extend it so that you keep the original ending & repeat a phrase from earlier.

I think most drives are in NTFS format - at least for Windows. Assume Mac is the same as they can be read on both systems.
Just Publish an MP4 at 60p and it should work, but I think some older TV's will only play 30p.

Mark, have you tried using VLC Player instead ?
This is the preferred player for MP4 files & is available for both Mac & Windows.
You can easily set it to Quit at the end so that it automatically returns to your Menu.
It is what I was using all weekend at the Peter Coles Competition.Not sure if the same version will work with both Mac & Crossover if you will need to install both versions .

And all versions can be installed alongside each other, so no need to delete your earlier version.

Mark are you using the latest PTE 11.0.12
I know some faults with Macs were fixed in this.

Are the shows with the Video Clips Exe or MP4??
If MP4 what program are you using to play them?
VLC player is recommended to avoid problemsHow big (bytes) are the video clips?
Spec of your computer - memory etc

You can easily move a KeyFrame, just click on it - so it turns darker blue - and drag it along the Timeline.
You will also need to move the KeyFrames for all of the Objects within the Frame by the same amount.

did you copy & paste the Key?
If you typed it make sure you are not mixing up 'o' & 0 (zero) or 'i' & 1

I had a similar problem when I had to replace a display. It was my second display which stopped working. Installing a new one I found that transitions were no longer smooth.
Making the new display number 1 cured the problem. Both were the same make, but the new one was a later model.

Are both Displays the same resolution?
Shouldn't make any difference, but just wondering if maybe you have a very large image/video at the point it is going out of sync & the computer is taking slightly longer to render that.
Otherwise no idea what could cause it.
Hope you can solve the problem.

I think I have only used it once and automatically went to the audio tab of Project Options to look for it.
But I agree with Igor that it is not something you need frequently, so preferences/timeline is the next most logical place.

Hi Tony,
Don't know about Mac's but on a PC sometimes the .lock file gets left if PTE closes unexpectedly.
If the .lock file is present, then delete it & see what happens.
It cures the problem on Windows, so may also do on a Mac

If you are just making an image fade in & out then no need to use modifiers.
Just have 2 keyframes - 1st at zero opacity & the 2nd at 100% opacity.
To get a smooth, slow fade then space them well apart.
Do the same for the fade out.

Thanks Igor, This will be very useful. Will it also do the same for a Template?
If at all possible it would be helpful if PTE could indicate which files are duplicates.
Having to search through a long project with many Objects to find a duplicate takes a very long time.

It is greyed out if you are in Timeline View.
Switch to Slide View & it should show

Hi Brian,
You can do it that way, as long as you know you will have images to match what you are saying.
Some people do work that way & have the complete soundtrack before they even take any pictures.
I never know what I am doing until I have done it & build up a sequence as I go along.Different strokes for different folks.
Are you aware of the 'Record Voice' feature in PTE?
You may need to turn it on in Preferences.This way you can add some slides & talk about them & PTE will record your commentary & attach it to that Slide.
I find this a good way of getting initial thoughts down to give me an idea of timing.
Depending on the quality of the microphone attached to your computer it may not be the best quality, but it at least gives you an idea.
It also then helps you perfect your script so that you are not repeating yourself.
You can then make a better recording afterwards & just add as a new track to get the spacing, then delete the original comments.Hope this helps

As long as you made the exe with 'allow keyboard control' then you should be able to pause/restart by pressing the spacebar.
Or as suggested start capture then start the exe.
Will be a lot easier if you have 2 monitors and have the exe on one and the screen capture on the other.

Moving a text

Make sure that the Text Object is highlighted in the Object Panel.
Click on the Text Object.
It may be that you have another Object that is in front of it, so it doesn't allow you to move it.
Click on Tools and then 'Ignore Objects not selected'
