  2. I think this would be a good decision Igor. Thank You for all your hard work and the excellent new version. Happy Christmas Love from Maureen, Robert and Fern
  3. Wishing everyone a very Happy Christmas with some winter photos of our village here : http://vimeo.com/2613182 created with PTE 5.6#16 Best Wishes Maureen
  4. I am wondering why you keep copying all the previous post in with your reply Yachtsman1 ? It makes the thread very long.
  5. Hi I was sorry to miss the AV day at Bradford (our poor dog was taken very ill so I had to stay home ) Roger Congratulations on a super job converting the slide/ tape AVs. I have seen them and they are very well done indeed & certainly project well, with no problems even on a new 1920px HD projector. As Roger, said you are making very hard work of this. I would be inclined to use the word "resize" rather than crop. Forget about Dpi If you use Photoshop or Elements scan as large as you can to obtain as much information as possible in the image. Good idea to save this very large file somewhere safe in another folder for any future use. In Photoshop Go to image / image size set the width to 1024px and the program will automatically give you the height 683px Set background colour to black (can be done later * in Photoshop) Go to image / canvas size / change units to pixels and you will see width 1024px height 683 px You want a height of 768px so just alter the height to 768 px This will give you a band of black top and bottom * In Photoshop you have the option of chosing the canvas extension colour (black) not sure if Elements gives you this option. All images resized in this way will automatically drop into the same central band and when projected the black band will not be noticed in a darkened room. You can also set up an action to let Photoshop do all the resizing very quickly in this way. I have changed new AVs from their 1920p size to a smaller 1024px by 768px size for some Festivals/ competitions using an action in this way. Very quick and accurate. Just don't add the awful white lines around the images Hope this helps. Best Wishes Maureen
  6. Wishing you a very Happy Birthday and hope you take the day off to relax and celebrate. We all appreciate the hard work you do for us all. May all your wishes come true and we look forward to seeing you back in UK one day very soon. Love Maureen, Robert and Fern xxxxx PS Happy Birthday to Morturm too !
  7. Happy Hallowe'en to you too Lin. Great fun. Decided to test out the new feature of 5.6 of quickly uploading work to YouTube with PTE so followed your example and uploaded a very quick test sequence at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VKVnmuXTQfU just to wish everyone Happy Halloween too . Love Maureen
  8. Merci JPD You have worked very hard. I hope Igor and others will understand the importance of what you say. Recently I have viewed several excellent slide shows on new HD (1920px by 1080px) projectors / beamers and it is interesting how suddenly in the middle of a sequence/ diaporama one image will suddenly pop out fill the screen and disrupt the flow. The author has inserted an image larger than the others, maybe by accident. With previous projectors (1024px) this was not so important, now how we decide to set the images to display is crucial This is a very important issue for the future of PTE. Best Wishes Maureen
  9. Many Thanks to Igor and all the Team for all their hard work creating the exciting new 5.6 upgrade. I have now bought an iTouch to show new 5.6 work. Good to meet so many PTE Forum members at Lampeter, Cirencester and also FIF AV Festival at Belgium last week. Look forward to meeting many more at the Great Northern AV Festival in December too. Now I need to stay home and create new work with 5.6. Love Maureen
  10. Well Done Igor. We are all looking forward to the exciting new developments. If you need more photos perhaps you should take another holiday and return to England & Wales again With love Maureen Robert & Fern
  11. Yes the Aego 2 Speakers are still highly recommended and used by many AV Groups and Festivals in the UK. We used them for the RPS IRIS-25 Festival weekend and I am sure Mike has seen them in use when he has visited Aldbourne, including the last RPS Distinctions Day there. Mike originally asked for ............... but it is always usefull for Forum members to have more info on what is available worldwide. Always great to share knowledge. Hope this has helped Mike? Best wishes to you and all at Mid-Thames & hope to see you at the Internationals in September? Anyone else planning to attend Cirencester this year ? See you there !
  12. Hi Ken, Think the correct link you wanted was http://www.digital-av.co.uk/sound-loudspeakers.htm Your first link points to an old site with 2006 International pictures Love Maureen
  13. There are also lots of sources for sound effects listed at : http://www.digital-av.co.uk/sound-effects.htm Best Wishes Maureen
  14. Hi Jim It might be a good idea to go back to your previous posting and delete your e-mail address? You can edit it out. Best Wishes Maureen
  15. Many Thanks Igor Love Maureen & Robert & Fern
  16. The results of the RPS IRIS-25 Festival are now up on the web at http://www.iris-25.rps.org/results.htm with a few photos. Many Thanks to all who took part and attended. Special Thanks to Igor and the Wnsoft Team for all their support.
  17. Congratulations and Well Done Igor to you and all your team. Thank you for all your hard work, we all look forward to using 5.5 Now it is time for you to relax and have a wonderful holiday !
  18. Anyone interested in finding out about Audio Visual Photography may care to come along to Aldbourne on June 22nd. We'll have five top AV workers there including Igor who is going to talk about PTE 5.5 and the future of PTE. Other speakers include Robert Albright FRPS Richard Brown FRPS, Peter Coles FRPS, and Gerard Desroches. If there's time we hope to show some attenders work too. All information about ordering tickets (book early) is at: http://www.digwessex.rps.org/pages/wessexhome.htm One thing you can be sure of if you want to define AV ............... AV workers are a friendly, happy bunch who can take criticism and praise equally well and are never afraid to freely help other AV workers whenever they can.
  19. Hi Tony Sut Mae? Are you planning to do any printing? I ask because the only reason to talk about dpi (dots per inch) is if you are a print worker. If you are in the world of the projectionist ie creating AVs for monitors, televisions, projectors - completely forget dpi (the Myth of 72 dpi has been covered here for many moons and can be viewed at http://www.scantips.com/no72dpi.html and no doubt Ken will paste a lot of links to help you too). You do need to concentrate on the pixel sizes of your images. Are you still working at 1024px by 768px or have you upgraded to future proof your work for HD to 1920px by 1080px ready for the new projectors currently available? You need to tell us what size resolution ie pixel size you are creating your PTE show at the moment. Then create the png image larger than that so it will work smoothly in your O&A sequence. By all means scan the newspaper at the biggest size you can so you have a really sharp image. Then resize with Photoshop's crop tool leaving the dpi box blank. We held an RPS AV workshop covering this cropping in South Wales last year and hope to do another soon. Meetings are open to non RPS members too. Hope this helps.

  21. http://www.acoustic-energy.co.uk/Product_r...ries/Aego_M.asp Acoustic Energy have now updated the speakers I ordered for Barry and others to the new M series. See link above. Same excellent quality and you'll see from their web site that they have won awards fro What Hi-Fi when they were first introduced. AV users all over the UK are now using them in very large halls & also home use. Superb value for money & excellent sound quality. Maureen
  22. I am very sorry to have to give you the sad news that Ron Wilkinson died early on 23rd April. He had been ill with cancer for some time and since Christmas had a couple of spells in hospital. The funeral will be on May 6th - family flowers only, with donations if desired to "Prostrate Cancer Research Foundation" to be sent to Fredk W Paine, Funeral Directors, 151 Epsom Rd, Sutton, Surrey. SM3 9EY I received this sad news in a letter from Ron's son. Ron was a very active member of the PTE Forum and always keen to help anyone progress with their AV skills. He was the first person to obtain a Licentiateship of the Royal Photographic Society in digital AV and despite his advanced years was always keen to keep up to date with new developments in AV. He will be greatly missed and I send my deepest sympathy to his family at this sad time. Maureen
  23. Well done Igor on yet again working so quickly to update the new Betas of version 5.5 Thank You once more for your hard work. Like Barrie, Al and others I work by clicking the transition points on the fly with the soundtrack. I have tried and enjoyed using v5.5 very much and like David I now simply ignore the fact that the transitions are hidden way off to the right ready for use until I want them. Best Wishes Maureen
  24. Thank You Igor for all your hard work with the new versions. They are a great improvement on a wonderful product. Like several others I like having the ability to add transitions "on the fly" so look forward to testing all the latest Betas when I have a little more time. Greatly looking forward to welcoming you to England ... and Wales in the Summer! With love to all, Maureen
  25. http://www.youtube.com/user/3rdImage Ian Bateman has a few sequences up there. But as Ron said best to see the superb quaslity of the originals ! The Gathering is a classic - do try to see it properly at a Festival near you if you can. It won the UK 321 International and should be in the Geoffrey Round comp at Bradford too. Best Wishes Maureen
