  1. I believe the reason that this is no longer needed is because Igor had speeded things up. I never use the Start Up window now, for me it spoils the professionalism of a show. Ron [uK]
  2. 5000000 milliseconds, that is a clever idea Maureen and certainly a ruse that I may use in the future. It would take you beyond your bedtime, I see from the timing of your message that you are still burning the midnight oil. Best wishes Ron [uK]
  3. Jeanie Have you contacted Brian Kelly, Conflow on this as I have suggested? I think you will find the screen shots most useful and you will have a permanent record. Ron [uK]
  4. Couldn't resist having a further look before breakfast, but in order to use the Timeline, I followed an idea which I believe was suggested in a much earlier thread and created a *.mp3 file of 5 seconds of Silence. As a result, I have decided to set up a folder of these "Silences" for further use when required. Back to PTE 4.40 everything that I have tried so far has worked as I expected. Thanks. Ron [uK]
  5. Thanks Igor. I have downloaded satisfactorily and will read through your notes and take a full look after breakfast. Best wishes. Ron Wilkinson Ron [uK]
  6. Jeanie I suggest you do a search for Manual Show and you will find a thread in November last year starting with the following: "MANUAL SLIDE SHOW for LECTURER'S This Show Format is suitable for those who wish to give an "Old Style" Slide Show with click advance and reverse of Slides. The features are:- * Startup Window with printed 'Operating Instructions'. (Anyone can use it) * Individual selection and 'Static Display' of each Slides. * Individual Slides with own Voice commentary or Music. * RH.Mouse advance to Next Slide. * LH.Mouse return to Last Slide. * RH.Arrow Key = Fast Forward of Slides. * LH.Arrow Key = Fast Reverse of Slides. * Exit from any Slide * Print any Slide. * REMOTE CONTROL of Slide Show with IR.Optical Mouse. (Walk around-No Wires) "If there is enough interest I can submit the 'Set-Up Instructions' to the Forum. I also have a 'Demo Exe' if some one would like to Host it on their Web Page. Alternatively I can EMail a 'set-up' sheet to you. "Brian Kelly.Conflow." I suggest you then e-mail Brian for the information you want. I have a copy of his *.zip file of a short set of instructions accompanied by relevant images of the PTE settings. I cannot send you this without his permission, so that is why I suggest you get in touch with him direct. Ron [uK]
  7. Jeanie I think Jim (JRR) has supplied the answer you require in the last posting on your other thread. What he has said is basically the template 'Manual Show' which I have set on my computer, which I derived from Conflow's original "Manual Slide Show". Good luck with it. Ron [uK]
  8. Where have you been all this week Jevans? Take a look back at the thread "Runtime edit of Presentations". I don't intend to explain once again Conflow's "Manual Slide Show". Ron [uK]
  9. Where have you been hiding this last twelve months? Last time was your 'challenge' about the Third Image. Don't leave it too long this time before adding your words of wisdom. Happy Easter. Rob [uK]
  10. I could have added that my grandson, David, gave a talk at our Camera Club on his work as a sports photographer using Conflow's Manual Slide Show. I also use it to run through a set of new images. Open PTE, select the Manual Show Template, load the images, Preview then use the arrow keys to view at leisure. Ron [uK]
  11. Is this April Fools Day? Able to afford a trip to Nepal but not $24 for this excellent software. From an over 80 with no employer. Ron [uK]
  12. You might also do a search in PTE for Manual Slide Show by Conflow. It is just a question of setting up a Template in PTE, maybe modified to suit individual needs. It should suit most of your requirements. A pencil note of any that the judge might want to see again shouldn't present any problems with the use of the Light Table - e.g. right click on image and select move to the top. Then you can run those top ones through again, backwards and forwards at the judge's behest. Ron [uK]
  13. Aside from the main point of this thread, the instruction to double click can be misleading and I would suggest use of the word "open". I have set my mouse to open files with a single click. If I double click I have been known to having two copies of a sequence running like an echo. Ron [uK]
  14. My research site was on the corner of Cannon Hill Lane and Grand Drive, Raynes Park, opposite a school entrance, and did confirm the presence of the offending gum. There are other white blobs on pavements and even my patio which I understand to be a form of algae. I know it is not gum on my patio unless the pigeons have taken up the habit. However back to the original topic. I purchased a Sony MZ-N710 Minidisc Recorder last year and failed miserably when trying to make a recording using a Sony Mike. It was a fiddle setting it up and not hands free, but so far I have not made any further attempts. I checked out www.soundprofessionals.com the site mentioned by Andrew and I was impressed by sample recording and the use of the headphone set. The prices are marginally higher now but well worth considering. The headphone set is basically a dummy with the mikes embedded in the earpieces. It also suggests that you can place the headphones round the neck as though in the out of use position but still make unobtrusive stereo recordings. I am wondering if in that latter position one could record one's own voice. Ron [uK]
  15. I found that very interesting information Andrew, particularly about the microphones. No doubt on your visit to the UK you will be taking in Raynes Park and Wimbledon to record the squelch of the chewing gum. May see you around. Ron [uK]
  16. I know that Ron (Ronniebootwest) who started this thread has found his solution but for the record following on from the article in the March RPS Journal, which I reported earlier, I succumbed and purchased iView Media Pro 2. Ordered it one day and received a boxed set first thing the next day by post - excellent service. I have been able to set it up so that it includes the features which I used on the Spreadsheet system I used for my colour slides. There is a Forum just the same as PTE. I put a query on there this morning and already I have received the answer that I needed. Now I have the task of annotating my first catalogue of 850 images. Maybe I should take the advice that Barry gave earlier, but even Peter has been known to make a sequence out of rubbish Ron [uK]
  17. Are you sure it is not because you have selected "Synchronise slideshow to music duration"? I have just run a few slides on a template of 4 sec transition and 5.5 sec effects and the timing was OK. Ron [uK]
  18. Steve Is this not a similar question to one I answered within the last few days. Click on the 'Play' button then click on the timeline where you wish to come in. Obviously not. As I always add the relevant amount of silence either at the beginning or end of the music as you have suggested it has never occurred to me to question it. Hope you get the solution you want. Ron [uK]
  19. Further to my last post, I have read again the article in the RPS Journal and the names of software quoted are: FotoStation Pro, a package designed by Fotoware Adobe Photoshop Album 2 iView Media Pro 2 I cannot comment on them, but maybe others will. Ron [uK]
  20. Steve Press the Play button then click on the Timeline where you wish to come in. Andrew I like your idea at the end of your last paragraph above. Ron [uK]
  21. Thanks Ken for that information. By the way it is my grandson, David. I'm older than you think. David has also pointed out to me that in the latest March 2005 edition of the Royal Photographic Society Journal there is a 4 page piece on the different software around for archiving pictures. It is quite a detailed article and might take some time to disseminate. But if anyone has access to the RPS Journal they may like to have a go at picking out any salient information. Ron [uK]
  22. I mentioned earlier that my grandson works for a firm of sports photographers and that I would must ask him what software they use for cataloguing. Responding to my e-mail he says "Our archiving software is called 'Cumulus'. I am not sure if this is a professional package or whether it is suitable for anybody. The package enables us to search for pictures using a variety of methods but you need to build separate databases if you wish to catalogue each sequence individually. As an alternative you can put all pictures on to one database and use a captioning system to allow searches to take place (our preferred method)." Ron [uK]
  23. I have seen the sequences and enjoyed them. Have just tried again with no problems. If at first..........and try again. Ron [uK]
  24. Sorry. I didn't realise the need was commercial rath than amateur. Good luck with the request. Ron [uK]
  25. When you stop to think about this, why should you want to listen to a few bars of music when all that you want to do is to open the next sequence you want to see? As regards your first sentence Lin, that is without the music question, has been answered already in other threads within the last week. Ron [uK]
