  1. Dominique When your sequence is downloaded it comes up as apr.exe. As the idea, although a good one, is not one that I would use for my presentations, I decided to delete it, but the message comes up "If you remove it you will no longer be able to run this programme .......". But apr.exe is the full PTE programme. If I continue the delete will it affect my whole PTE set up? At the moment it is in a separate folder "thedom". Regards Ron [uK]
  2. So sorry that you are experiencing a problem Roger, but I don't know how I can help other than to repeat 1. Open my website www.ronwil.statacom.net 2. Go to my Links page 3. Towards bottom left there is a thumbnail of AV Group members around the Club logo. Click on that to download the self extracting Zip file. 4. Once you have the folder downloaded open it. 5. Inside click on the icon for SCC AV Group 06.exe and the intro should run. 6. Finally when the first part finishes after the rapid spin run your mouse over my portrait at 10 o'clock or Mike's at 11 o'clock and the arrow should change to a hand, click and the chosen sequence will start. Good Luck Ron [uK]
  3. Ken Thanks for watching and your comments. Only two of the members currently have finished their sequences, so as I say this is the foundation for the Intro. Eventually all portraits will be covered, plus the centre of the logo for a combined Group presentation. Whether or not I will alter the mouse response currently at Exit for the uncovered areas I will have to decide, but thanks for noting that. See also my response to Hawk below Hawk Sorry about the various hiccups. I said originally, when asked to make my workings available, that the whole was rather complex and that I would have to whittle it down. In my whittling I failed to start at the roots and hence the missing bits and pieces. I have re-worked the whole thing and amended my website accordingly, but even now I notice I have omitted the "invisible.jpg" although it doesn't affect the final working. Also the icon for SCC AV Group 06.exe is now the default and not 06. The folder is now 132 Mb and it took 45 minutes to upload, so I will leave it a few days before I make any further corrections. It took just over 3 minutes to download on my Broadband connection. Thanks to you both again Ron [uK]
  4. Extracting from the topic on curtains Further to my earlier postings, I have completed successfully the foundations for Sutton Camera Club AV Group Autumn presentation using a combination of Versions 5.0 and 4.0 I first prepared an opening sequence of pans, zooms and rotate in 5.0, finishing on the slide in which I wished to place the invisible buttons in Version 4.0 Object Editor. In 4.0 (4.47 to be precise) I started with a Blank slide, which I customised as follows: Main>Advanced Options>Run external application and inserted the name of the *.exe file, which I had prepared in 5.0. My next and final slide is the same as the last slide in the 5.0 sequence. The Version 4.0 project is set to “keep the last slide on the screen when the show ends” and to “Auto hide mouse …”. Already using Object Editor I have inserted invisible buttons under two of the portraits (below) and called up their individual sequences using “Run application …”. So, at this point in time, it would be possible to use the curtain sequence in the same way, until such time as the necessary object editor facilities are added in 5.0. As requested I have provided access to my working folder on my website www.ronwil.statacom.net Go to the Lnks page where I have replaced my "HMS Gloucester" link with one for "SCC AV 2006" represented by the thumbnail below. Click on the thumbnail to download the folder, which has been zipped using WinZip Self Extractor. Once unzipped, open the folder "SCC AV 2006 to Web". Ignore the two *.exe files and the 06 icon but open the folder "SCC AV Intro 2006". Click on the efault icon for SCC AV Group 06.exe and the intro should run finally ending in a rapid rotation to the final image as illustrated below. Now position your mouse cursor on either of the two portraits at 10 or 11 o'clock to open the sequence by that member. I hope it works Ron [uK]
  5. Rather than intrude anymore in this curtains topic I will open up my original topic "Versions 4.0 and 5.0 - Interim Arrangements" and explain how to open my SCC AV Group Intro combinng the two versions of PTE Ron [uK]
  6. Ken and Roger, I have in fact whittled it down and replaced the HMS Gloucester link on my website Links page with my SCC AV 2006 Intro. I am not available for the next couple of hours, but will write an explanation later. Ron [uK]
  7. It is too big Ken 56Mb for my server to accept. I might try whittling it down in the next few days and replace the HMS Gloucester link on my website. Bear with me. Ron [uK]
  8. I would like to Roger but it is a bit complex, a case of exe within exe, which I think my server would reject even if I knew how to put it together for transmission. Ron [uK]
  9. Ron I have just added a piece in the other thread on the curtains topic, which may be of interest. Ron [uK]

  11. When Igor initiated a poll on "What video card in your PC or laptop" on 25 April 2006, the Intel 900 came low in his groupings albeit one above the Group containing my GeForce 2. Also in the poll no one signified that they had a Intel 900. I am ready to be corrected but I believe in one posting Igor recommended 256 Mb or higher. Also in another thread "Laptop Computers, Which One" initiated by gilbert on 29 February 2006, Igor posted "If you buy new laptop choose model with NVIDIA GeForce 6400, 5700, 7300 or any higher or ATI Radeon 9700, X300, X600, X700, X1300 or any higher. "This laptop will works fine with PTE v5.00 and also will fully support new graphical interface of Windows Vista (October-November of this year). " Ron [uK]
  12. As I intimated in my recent posting I have prepared my next Intro sequence in PTE 5.0 ready for the Object Editor to be activated, as currently available in PTE 4.0. If you open "Objects and Animations" in 5.0 you will see in the Window Controls, above the Object Window, the Add Button which has yet to be activated. This will enable various tasks to be performed in the same way as the buttons function in PTE 4.0. Just as Igor and his team activated "Close show after last slide" in time for my Chairman's evening last week, I am hoping that the "Add Button" will be activated in time for our annual AV Group Show in October. Ron [uK]
  13. Further to my last post, this is how the finished Intro image would look on my PTE 4.0 experimental stage reported earlier. Ron [uK]
  14. When Version 5.00 is fully operational, presumably you will be able to use the "Objects Editor..." to insert buttons, invisible buttons etc and "Run Application ....". In which case you would replace the eagle in the example with your own Intro image. Below is the final Intro Image I used in Version 4.00 for a show last year. Under each of the members portraits is an invisible button which calls up their individual sequence. I have produced a similar Intro in 5.00 beta #3, this time with the portraits panning across the screen then spinning in from all directions to form the final image. So at he moment I am waiting on Beta #x to complete. Ron [uK]
  15. Well done Lin. I have a thing about converging verticals, where their correction can be achieved and improve the picture, and sloping horizons. My "What about the Safety Curtain" was meant to be facetious, but admiring the realism of the achievement. I don't know what the laws are in other countries, but here in the UK the Safety Curtain has to be lowered once during any performance and has bold lettering printed on it. It is there in case of fire. Ron [uK]
  16. Thunderous applause. I wonder now Lin if the surround might be improved in Photoshop by getting rid of the converging verticals. Although I do appreciate the main point of your exercise is to demonstrate the curtain effect, which is now perfect. What about the Safety Curtain? Ron [uK]
  17. Martin To run PTE Masks.pte, you need to open the programme PTE 5.00 beta #3, which you should have in a separate folder. Then it is File>Open and call up "PTE Masks.pte" from whereever you have it filed. Click on the Preview button and there you have it. Good luck and welcome. Ron [uK]
  18. It was a pleasure working through Ron's PDF Tutorial (based on Ken's original concept) which worked like a dream. Thanks to you both and good luck. Ron [uK]
  19. When I produced my stage and curtains effect in 4.00 using "Gates (horizontal/verical)" as reported earlier, I got the proscenium surround from some Corel ClipArt. It was in lineart and not particularly inspiring. I made my curtains in Photoshop using the Gradient tool to produce the folds in the drape. Hope this may produce some thoughts. Ron [uK]
  20. This is very useful. I tried in PTE 4.00 to simulate curtains drawing with the "Gates (horizontal/verical)" effect for an intro but I have never used it. A PTE 5.00 version should be a great improvement. Thanks. Ron [uK]
  21. A masterly production and very much appreciated. I spotted The Plough (Ursa Major) halfway through. On the mother island west of Mersea it also took 2 mins to download. No problem. Ron [uK]
  22. One problem I experienced last evening was when I tried to open a PTE, prepared in 4.00, from the icon in my prepared folder, it opened in 5.00. I changed the icon but the saved application, when opened, kept flicking over and I couldn't revert to 4.0. I had finished a programme sequence in 4.00 using the Object Editor, Transparent Buttons, Run Application etc, "saved" and "created as". Everything played back fine. I was working from within my folder for the whole show, which consists of four separate sections, I had noticed already that I needed to change my icon for one of the sections and it was then that I clicked on the PTE icon for that section and the problem occurred. It will not take me long to re-set everything but I must remember in future to open either version as a programme first and then go to the project I need to work on. I think the possible jump to 5.0 may have been because the "Run application...." were to experimental demos in 5.0. Ron [uK]
  23. I agree with Ron. I am sure that you will be more at home using 4.48, particularly as you apparently will be assembling your sequence "on the hoof" as they say in the UK. Ron [uK]
  24. Confirmed *.jpg Ron [uK]
  25. A couple of things that I noticed from the screen shot is the long file string to get to the image each time and also the last image in the display has an extension *.pg and not *.jpg. Is it possible from such a long file string and the speed of the processor that after each change the system is lagging further and further behind until finally it breaks. Just a thought. Ron [uK]
