30P/60P QUESTION

Recommended Posts

Hi, I have a question regarding selecting 30p vs 60p when creating a slideshow. All my shows are made at 30p and play OK on my TVs, but if I record with 60p then my shows will not play on my present TVs. Will shows made at 30p play on the latest TVs, I do not know anyone that has updated their TVs recently to try my shows. Would hate to not be able to play my many shows in the future.  Also had a problem with fat32/exfat/ntfs formats on flash drives! But that is sorted...for now.

Thanks Pete.

Pete,

My present TV, which is a Sony (1920x1080) and is 5-10 years old, plays 60p and also 30p with no problems. I do not think that more modern TVs are going to discontinue support for 30p in favour of 60p (or higher). But if it worries you then my advice would be to archive your projects either as BIZ or Templates so that you can return to them at a later date and reproduce the mp4 files at whatever (60p or higher) that you need. Alternatively, you could produce two versions now for future compatibility.

You may also want to make sure that your projects are capable of producing 4k (3840x2160) mp4 at 60p for when you upgrade to 4k.

Thanks for the replies guys. I have just made and managed to try a 60p show on a LG tv. It worked fine. I have given shows to friends and they to had problems with the 60p version.  So I think I will get into the habit of creating a zip file for future shows. Is there an advantage to using 60p v 30p that I would see in the show. I use very little video, mainly photos produced on Canon 5dIV or 6RII DSLR.

Thanks Pete

Thanks for that DG. Will take a look. I am actually more than happy with the look of my shows as they are, but if they can be improved then I'm all in. I confess to be a 'pixel peeper' on my DSLRs and PC, maybe I will pay the same attention to slideshows.

I have decided to zip my shows for future use, but some shows will not zip! Of the 17 shows that I tried to zip, 2 will not zip. On starting the zip process the progress box shows the photos being saved, but the progress bar is static. On trying to open the file = 'Windows cannot open the folder' 'The compressed file is invalid' It's not a problem at the moment, just curious as to why. I cannot see any obvious difference in the shows

Thanks for taking the time to reply.

Do you have any large videos in these 2 that don't work?

I have one show with a couple of large video files & many other files. When creating a Template it takes a long time and nothing seems to happen.

I thought it had finished, but looking at the Template Folder not all of the files were there, it could be the same for Zip.

1 show has video the other none. From what I can tell larger shows have zipped ok. I have looked in the folders at my show files and the shows that do not zip have also produced a TMP file alongside the zip file (which will not open) so something different happening there. Thanks for the response, my head is spinning at the moment with all the opening and closing, zipping, deleting etc, I've lost the plot! Will leave alone for a while and try again another time.

Thanks Pete.
