Hi Malcolm,
I assume you have PTE AV Studio 10.5?
I just checked and created 2 projects in V10.5 - a menu and second show.
There are 2 buttons in the menu for launching the second show: "Run Application or Open Document" and "Run Slideshow with Return".
It works perfectly on my PC with Windows 11 (25H2).
I've attached a ZIP archive with these projects. Try it on your computer. Create 2 EXE files and place them in the same folder.Important note: for best results, I recommend using the "Run Slideshow with Return" command. It ensures you return to the menu after the second show finishes. The only requirement is that both EXE files should be created in the same version of PTE AV Studio.
If my simple menu works correctly on your computer, carefully check again your project:
1. Commands for buttons.
2. If you use the "Run Application..." command, make sure the "Pause show when slideshow window becomes inactive" option is selected in the Project Options > Advanced tab for the menu project.
3. Also make sure the slide in the menu has a sufficient display duration or even uses the Pause mode after reaching the end of the slide. -
Hi,
Thanks, it's a duplicate option that no longer used. We'll remove the second 'Slide number' option from the default Bottom-left toolbar in future V12 release.

Hi,
I have an idea on how to improve it. I'll write about it later.

Why is it that everytime I make a project in PTE AV Studio for Windows (version 11) I end up with some empty slides? I tried the beta Mac version 12 for the first time this weekend and on the first try my project has no empty slides. I made the same project in Windows again and sure enough: empty slides. Very happy with the Mac-version. (Oh, and I made the Windows-project on a windows computer.)
Hello,
As far as I understand, the problem is occurring with PTE AV Studio 11 on Windows. Please answer:1. What exact version is installed? 11.0.21 or older. Check in the About window (Main menu > Help menu).
2. Did you recently start using PTE AV Studio and the problem occurred immediately? Or have you been using the program for a long time and it worked correctly before?
3. What files did you add to the Slide List in your project: JPEG, PNG, TIFF, or video files?
4. Check how the slides are displayed in the Sample Project (open it via the main menu > Help > Open Sample Project).
5. Describe your computer configuration:
- Windows version.
- Graphics card (NVIDIA, AMD, or Intel), preferably the exact name. This is important.6. Try the newest V12 Beta on Windows to compare with V11:

Hi,
I recommend you start a new topic (thread) on the forum.
If you use V11 start here:
https://www.pteavstudio.com/forums/forum/67-troubleshooting/For V12 Beta write here (new topic):
https://www.pteavstudio.com/forums/forum/91-pte-av-studio-12-beta/Also let us know the exact version number from the About window.
And try with the simple new project. Add 3-5 images, check out how it works. You can also check the Sample Project (from the main menu > Help > Open Sample project command).

Hi Jill,
Thank you for checking the new Beta 10! I've replied you by email. We'll try to improve this editor to make it easier for you to determine the final video playback time.
Currently, editing focuses on working with the original video's timing.-

It doesn't seem to be working as it should at the moment.
You need to Tick the Box 'Speed Keyframes' to be able to add them. This then disables the Speed Adjustment box.In previous Beta's (7 & 😎 I could add the keyframes at the Start to slow down, or Hold, the video.
But as the Green bar does not change in duration to match the new Video time, it was difficult to add the Keyframes at the end in the right place once the Speed had been adjusted.
Now in Beta 9 I am really struggling to get the Keyframes at the Start. I can add them, but when moving one to a Zero Speed it seems to move the Start Position of the Video.
Jill, I agree, something wrong with changing/adding first keyframe and scale of the timeline.
Please wait, we'll improve the code.-

I guess I should explain what I am trying to do and then see if what I want can even be done within PTEAV. Google Earth has a feature to create a "tour" where you enter points and then record the tour. Then you can export the tour as a video file. My "tour" is just 2 points with a start city (Los Angeles) and an ending city (Auckland). I want to use this as my first "slide" in another one of my travelogue shows I am working on. I when playing the Google Earth generated movie the speed throughout is fairly high. I want it to linger longer on the starting and ending cities but be normal speed or greater for the "flying over the ocean" portion. So far the only place where I have been able to accomplish this is within the Trim and Adjust Speed sub-window of O&A. But the changes don't "stick". So am I trying to accomplish something that cannot be done in PTEAV?
Please try a simple idea - create a smooth video slowdown, a pause (1 s), and then a smooth resume of playback.
I showed how to do this in the screenshot below.First, make sure you are using the new version - Beta 9.
1. Tick "Speed keypoints" option.
2. Add 4 keypoints, as shown on the screenshot.
3 Click the OK button to save the result.Check the preview in the Objects and animation editor and the Mini player in the main window.

Trim works OK.
However it does not alter the duration of the slide to suit the new video time.
Cannot add Keypoints but changing speed is possible via the data input boxes.
Dave,
Ealier, slide duration never changed automatically when the duration of a video object changed. Because a slide may contain other objects with their own durations.
The only case when a slide duration automatically updates is when replacing a video object file name throught the Open file window, if its duration matched the slide duration. You need to tick an option "Speed keyframes" before adding any speed keypoints in the timeline.

When the Windows PC tries to run the show it will show an error message on a HEIC file. Ideally Windows version of PTE would support HEIC or the Mac would provide a compatibility warning during publish.

Hi,
I apologize it took so long! In the new version 12.0 Beta 9, we've added full support for HEIC images to PTE AV Studio.
Please try it out and let me know how it works.

Hi, I have a project with two slides. I tried adding a transition, and then added another one at the end.
But when I save the project or export it, I see that the file is much larger, and I noticed it creates a folder with the video files containing the transition I tested.
Maybe I’m doing something wrong, but this also happens in version 11.
When the project is saved, shouldn’t it only save the footage actually used in the project?
I think that we solved this in the new Beta 9 today.

Still having a problem with the Trim and Adjust Speed option in Objects and Animation for a single video clip. I used Google Earth to record a "movie" that shows flight path from A to B. I open the clip in PTEAV and I wanted to start the beginning a bit later and then alter the speed during the rest of the clip. This is what it looks like in the Trim and Adjust Speed window and it plays fine in that window.
Please try new Beta 9 released today.

Hi, the app freezes when you least expect it; the slide disappears, and nothing is displayed.
I've also noticed that the *.lock file remains at 0 KB.
I close the app, but I can't delete that file.
I check the task manager, and PTE is still running, even though I've closed it.These crashes happen almost constantly
Hi, try new Beta 9.

Will jpg xl be supposed in this version?
Mark, did you mean standard JPEG-XL images as .jxl files, or JPEG-XL from iPhone?
JPEG-XL from iPhone is a DNG file containing both RAW data and an embedded JPEG-XL image.

Hi,
I'm testing HEIC images support for a PC (Windows) in PTE AV Studio right now. If all is OK, we'll add it for V12 soon.
It was not easy to support this tricky format! Interesting fact, a typical HEIC image file from your iPhone contains a grid of 48 small video fragments (4 x 8 tiles - 512 x 512 pixels short video clips which contain 1 frame, still picture) + meta data (rotation, color profile, thumbnail picture).
I discoverd that even latest IrfanView cannot display correctly colors in HEIC images, colors are distorted slightly.

I thought you needed a simple way to merge several video files.
Then PTE AV Studio would probably be suitable for adding transitions between videos.
Video Speed Control with Keyframes in V12
in PTE AV Studio 12 Beta
Posted
Hi,
In PTE AV Studio 12, we've included a new feature - Trim and Adjust Speed editor for video objects.
As in previous versions, you can adjust the start time, duration, and simple video speed.
Now it's possible to add keyframes on a special timeline to flexibly control video speed. This works similarly to how you use the envelope tool to change audio volume at keypoints in the main window timeline.
You can smoothly slow down video playback, then speed it back up to normal. You can also insert a pause where a video frame stays still for a period of time.
Simply click on the orange line to add points, then drag a point up or down.
By default, speed is set to 100% - original speed.
Setting it to 200% will double the video speed.
Setting it to 0% will stop playback completely. Placing two points with zero speed next to each other creates a pause interval during playback. This is shown in the example below.
Note that a hint for a selected keypoint on the timeline shows two time values:
- the original video time
- the modified time, which reflects the effect of slowdown or speedup.
You can zoom the timeline in or out using the "+" and "−" buttons on the toolbar, or with Ctrl + mouse wheel.
The "[" and "]" buttons on the toolbar set the Start time and End time respectively to the current position of the time cursor (the vertical red line).
Undo is available via Ctrl + Z for all speed and trim edits.
The "Interpolate frames" option is useful when slowing video down significantly (for example, to 10% of normal speed). Two adjacent video frames are blended using a Dissolve method. This can be useful for creating a special artistic effect. Read more
If you want to delay the start of a video object, the easiest way is to use the Offset parameter in the Properties tab of the Objects and Animations editor, and adjust the Duration (or End time) there. Using keyframes for this is less convenient.
Click the play button:
