  1. PTE Video Optimiser was designed as a standalone app, useful as a complement/addition to PTE AV Studio, and useful for a wide audience of users.

Some features from PTE Video Optimiser already have been ported to PTE AV Studio 12. For example, video export in AV1 (WEBM) format and support for vertical video export.

Video stabilization and noise reduction cannot be performed with highest quality in real time (they require significant CPU and GPU computations). Stabilization works in 2 passes for the best quality. These features can only be implemented for video export.
An important feature of PTE AV Studio is that all our effects (except Motion Blur) work in real time and are available in a fullscreen preview, in the EXE shows, and in the video export.
Stabilization is the most complex feature due to its 2 passes, which must be precisely timed. Integrating it into PTE AV Studio will be even more hard than in PTE Video Optimiser.
Yes, I'd like to see stabilization/noise reduction functions in PTE AV Studio, but right now we're not ready to implement them. Sorry.

Igor, would it be possible to add sounds from my collection to this library?
I'd like to add bird sounds, (female/male) laughter, alarm clocks, ticking clocks, kissing sounds, typewriter sounds (would be great for text animation), drops of water, streams, gunshots, sea waves, and more.

You can already add your own sound files to your projects - just use the "Add Sound" button (not Sound Library) and select your local audio files.
We plan to expand our built-in sound library. However, we only include sounds under CC0 (Creative Commons Zero) license - meaning they must be in the public domain and free for everyone to use without restrictions.

I added a single clip.  Changed the speed to 200%.  It changed the stated video duration but it did not speed up the clip.  Also, I could not publish the show to an .mp4.  The publish window just sat there and never did anything.  It did create a 1KB file with the name but that's all.  I went back in and tried to change the speed from 200% back to 100%.  Moved the slider then manually typed in the number.  Closed the window and PTEAV just locked up and I had to "End Process".

    Hi Mary,

Thanks for checking video editing functions. Please send me this video file which causes freezing and incorrect speed. Better with a project file (.pte). Write me a personal message with a link.

I found a couple of issues with editing of video speed and duration. We'll fix it.

Is this to have an effect on the entire video clip, or can just a portion of the video clip be affected by the 'Interpolate frames'?

    Gary,

Frame interpolation is always applied to the entire video object, from start to end.

    For example:

    A. The original video is 30p. Your display operates at 60 Hz (or you are creating a 60p video export).
    Video speed is original, 100%.
PTE will generate intermediate frames (1 real frame + 1 blended/interpolated frame) for the video object.

    B. The original video is 60p. Your display operates at 60 Hz (or you are creating a 60p video export).
Video speed is set as 10% / 0.1x.
In this case, PTE will generate 9 intermediate frames (1 real frame + 9 blended/interpolated frames) for the video object.

  5. I initially applied loudnorm normalization (for all sound files in the library) using the EBU R128 standard with a target level of -16 LUFS.
    loudnorm с I=-16 in FFmpeg.
I noticed a problem - some quiet sounds get to the same level as loud sounds, destroying the natural dynamic range.
Probably I'm wrong and I can try again.

UPD. I normalized all audio files in the sound library in future Beta 4.

  6. Gary,

Glad that you found a reason with the issue with a wrong offset.

Currently Sound objects are not displayed in the timeline of the editor as waveforms. Probably in future version.
The main idea of a new Sound object is to play short sound effects (1-3 seconds). Examples included in the Sound Library which appeared in Beta 3.

  7. Hi,

In PTE AV Studio 12 we added the Sound Library with camera shutters, clicks, page turns, and whooshes.

Install new Beta 3 to try his feature.

You can also add your own sound files.
Adjust the volume and offset from the beginning of the slide.

  8. Beta 3 is available

    See the download links above.

    • Added Sound Library with camera shutters, clicks, page turns, and whooshes.
    • Improved smoothness of interpolation between keyframes for long animation when using the Smooth modifier or other speed modifiers. Especially on long panoramas.
    • Added hardware decoder for AV1 videos (Windows only). Requires graphics cards from 2020 or newer: NVIDIA Geforce 3050+, AMD RX 6000+, Intel Arc or 11th Gen+ integrated graphics.
    • Updated German and Italian translations for PTE AV Studio 12.

Trying to figure the Trim function in this menu. As I play the video, I want to pause it to establish the beginning trim point. So the red triangle is at the point of the beginning trim position. How can I move the lower white triangle to where the red triangle is at? This has been the problem with the previous version. If I click on the white triangle to move it to the position of the red triangle, the red triangle will reposition back to the white triangle and I lose that set trim position. How do I get the white triangle to move to where I placed the red triangle?

    Gary,

We plan to add special two buttons to set start and end points for trimming according triangle cursor. It will appear in Beta 3 or 4.

And I have no idea how to use the other items, like Interpolate Frames, Speed Key Points and Speed. Is there a video on how to use them?

I'll publish a small tutorial soon.
We need to add some improvements for this window, and then I'll write the tutorial.

I recommend to try now a new "Interpolate frames" option. Use some video footage with fast motion scene (cars, train, waterfall). Set video speed between 5% and 20% and enable "Interpolate frames" option. Check the result.
    Real my demonstation here: https://www.pteavstudio.com/forums/topic/52571-frame-interpolation-for-slow-motion-video/

  10. Gary,

Do you have Windows 11 or 10?

I checked on my Windows 11 (24H2) in Media Player, Classical Media Player, and Movies & TV player. All is OK with synchronization of audio for created in PTE video.

Probably some app has replaced system audio/video decoders on your PC? Media Player uses system decoders/filters.

VLC and MPC-HC use own decoders.

  11. Gary,

At first glance, your final video (Minneapolis-Final.mp4) plays correctly - audio is synced. I checked in VLC and MPC-HC players.

Also I used the original file (Minneapolis.mp4) and created a new video in PTE 11.0.20. The created video file played correctly (synced).

What player software you use for checking?

When you observe this issue with synchronization? Right at beginning of a video or delay occurs later in the middle? Do you rewind video or play from beginning until the end of the file? And how big this delay 1 second or less/more?

Could this then be placed inside another Mask?

It is a long time since I have used Blend modes, I do all of my photo editing inside PTE & have not used Photoshop for several years.
But it would be good to have them within PTE.

As long as we can still use Masks within Masks then I think either option will work ok.

    Hi Jill,

    Thanks for your opinion!
Yes, it's possible to place one Mask container inside another Mask container with different mask modes.

    • Thanks 1
  13. Jill,

For option A it means the Mask container where image(s) acting as the Stencil for color blending with Content. In other words, Stencil object(s) will not cut unwanted parts of Mask content (no opacity masking mode).
Only color blending between pictures/videos in Content and Stencil (according Blend mode "Multiply" or "Screen" or "Add", etc.)

So need to choose between option A and option B... or find something else.

  14. Here is a screenshot for Option B (Blend Mode for individual image object).

If a parent image has Nested opacity mode (or Blur/Unsharp mode), Blend mode for a child image will look partially incorrectly. Because objects with Nested opacity or Blur are being rendered independently from the main scene and then the result inserted into the slide.
In other words, Blend mode will work correctly only images placed without Blur or Nested opacity modes.

  15. Hi,

What if we implement the Blend effect as a new mode of a Mask container?

    A. Simple example: you place one image in the "Stencil" and another in the "Content", and the Mask container blends both images using Multiply, Screen, Add or another mode.
One Mask container can use only one kind of Blend mode.

    B. Or you expect to see Blend mode as a parameter of an Image object or Video object? Without any Mask container.

We found that last Option B sometimes doesn't produce the correct visual result when working with blurred images or objects with nested opacity mode, where the objects partially overlap (but don't completely overlap). This is because such objects are rendered independently.
