  1. Just to make sure I understand you correctly - are you saying that in the custom transition editor you need the ability to change the preview duration (to see how current custom transition looks at different speeds)?

Or is the issue that when user apply this custom transition, it uses the default duration from Project Options (Slide Options), usually 2 seconds?

Chroma key for video doesn't seem to be working in v. 12.

    Hi,

Try new Beta 12. Chroma Key works again.

Also we the chroma key function for video clips has been completely rewritten. It now works reliably with all popular background colors: green, blue, red, and more. Background removal quality is significantly improved. Edge handling is especially enhanced: color spill is eliminated and object outlines are clean and sharp:

      • Added hints for “+”, “-”, “[“ and “]” buttons.
  4. A complex style from a group of images can create a series of slides. These slides must be grouped together (for example, the Collage style or Photo Story style), so the program combines them into a group after applying them.

Initially, we didn't anticipate a simple case (1 image style creates 1 slide). This general behavior existed from version 8.0 up to 10.5.
To avoid changing the program's behavior, we added a new option "Keep slide order" option starting in version 11.0 for simple 1 picture styles.

Maybe I'm repeating myself, but many times I can't work with chromakey files. There are rain / snow / sun ray chroma key footage on both green and blue and alpha-channel backgrounds. I am trying to work with a chroma key in PTE. It turns out very badly: either rain / snow is not visible, or the main picture is very dark under the file with chroma key, there is no transparency. I would like to solve this problem in the new version.

    Hi,

We'll show a new improved Chroma Key for video objects today (V12 Beta 12).

  6. Hi,

Transition duration is always determined by the user (via Project Options or Slide Options).

When author creates a new transition, he works with a virtual duration of 2 seconds (this is simply a convention, it's not a fixed duration). In reality, the transition and keyframes of all objects will be compressed or expanded in time depending on the transition duration chosen by the user.

We've intentionally designed this so that the transition creator isn't tied to a specific transition duration, but can design it universally for any reasonable duration subsequently selected by the user (0.5 seconds, 2 seconds, 5 seconds, 10 seconds, etc).

  7. Hi,

I noticed Chrome browser keeps making new windows slightly larger and shifting them down and to the right each time. At some point I realized I was wasting minutes and hours a year just constantly resizing and repositioning windows. So I wrote a small Chrome extension to fix it.

You set your preferred size and position once, and it stays that way for every new window.

Tested on Windows 11. Free, no ads, no permissions, full privacy.

Hope someone finds it useful. Maybe it's especially useful when you use HiDPI scale 125% and more.

Hi, thanks for your message. We'll fix it in the next Beta 12 soon.

  9. Hi,

In PTE AV Studio 12, we've included a new feature - Trim and Adjust Speed editor for video objects.

As in previous versions, you can adjust the start time, duration, and simple video speed.

Now it's possible to add keyframes on a special timeline to flexibly control video speed. This works similarly to how you use the envelope tool to change audio volume at keypoints in the main window timeline.

You can smoothly slow down video playback, then speed it back up to normal. You can also insert a pause where a video frame stays still for a period of time.

Simply click on the orange line to add points, then drag a point up or down.

By default, speed is set to 100% - original speed.

Setting it to 200% will double the video speed.

Setting it to 0% will stop playback completely. Placing two points with zero speed next to each other creates a pause interval during playback. This is shown in the example below.

Note that a hint for a selected keypoint on the timeline shows two time values:
    - the original video time
    - the modified time, which reflects the effect of slowdown or speedup.

You can zoom the timeline in or out using the "+" and "−" buttons on the toolbar, or with Ctrl + mouse wheel.

The "[" and "]" buttons on the toolbar set the Start time and End time respectively to the current position of the time cursor (the vertical red line).

Undo is available via Ctrl + Z for all speed and trim edits.

The "Interpolate frames" option is useful when slowing video down significantly (for example, to 10% of normal speed). Two adjacent video frames are blended using a Dissolve method. This can be useful for creating a special artistic effect. Read more

If you want to delay the start of a video object, the easiest way is to use the Offset parameter in the Properties tab of the Objects and Animations editor, and adjust the Duration (or End time) there. Using keyframes for this is less convenient.

  10. Hi Malcolm,

I assume you have PTE AV Studio 10.5?
I just checked and created 2 projects in V10.5 - a menu and second show.
There are 2 buttons in the menu for launching the second show: "Run Application or Open Document" and "Run Slideshow with Return".
It works perfectly on my PC with Windows 11 (25H2).
I've attached a ZIP archive with these projects. Try it on your computer. Create 2 EXE files and place them in the same folder.

Important note: for best results, I recommend using the "Run Slideshow with Return" command. It ensures you return to the menu after the second show finishes. The only requirement is that both EXE files should be created in the same version of PTE AV Studio.

If my simple menu works correctly on your computer, carefully check again your project:
    1. Commands for buttons.
    2. If you use the "Run Application..." command, make sure the "Pause show when slideshow window becomes inactive" option is selected in the Project Options > Advanced tab for the menu project.
    3. Also make sure the slide in the menu has a sufficient display duration or even uses the Pause mode after reaching the end of the slide.

Why is it that everytime I make a project in PTE AV Studio for Windows (version 11) I end up with some empty slides? I tried the beta Mac version 12 for the first time this weekend and on the first try my project has no empty slides. I made the same project in Windows again and sure enough: empty slides. Very happy with the Mac-version. (Oh, and I made the Windows-project on a windows computer.)

    Hello,
As far as I understand, the problem is occurring with PTE AV Studio 11 on Windows. Please answer:

    1. What exact version is installed? 11.0.21 or older. Check in the About window (Main menu > Help menu).

    2. Did you recently start using PTE AV Studio and the problem occurred immediately? Or have you been using the program for a long time and it worked correctly before?

    3. What files did you add to the Slide List in your project: JPEG, PNG, TIFF, or video files?

    4. Check how the slides are displayed in the Sample Project (open it via the main menu > Help > Open Sample Project).

    5. Describe your computer configuration:
    - Windows version.
    - Graphics card (NVIDIA, AMD, or Intel), preferably the exact name. This is important.

    6. Try the newest V12 Beta on Windows to compare with V11:

    Hi,

I recommend you start a new topic (thread) on the forum.

If you use V11 start here:
    https://www.pteavstudio.com/forums/forum/67-troubleshooting/

For V12 Beta write here (new topic):
    https://www.pteavstudio.com/forums/forum/91-pte-av-studio-12-beta/

Also let us know the exact version number from the About window.

And try with the simple new project. Add 3-5 images, check out how it works. You can also check the Sample Project (from the main menu > Help > Open Sample project command).

  13. Hi Jill,
Thank you for checking the new Beta 10! I've replied you by email.

We'll try to improve this editor to make it easier for you to determine the final video playback time.
Currently, editing focuses on working with the original video's timing.

  14. Beta 10 is available

    See the download links above.

    • Improved the Trim and Adjust Speed window (for a video object):
      • Improved interface: window size is now remembered between sessions;
      • Pause key can now be used to play/resume video playback;
      • Removed "Speed keypoints" checkbox. Just add new keypoints in the timeline. Right click to remove a keypoint;
      • Fixed known issues.
    • Fixed an issue with second playback of the preview when the project contained a custom transition with a video mask.
    • Fixed text appearing duplicated in Quick Search input field (in Slide styles and transitions).

It doesn't seem to be working as it should at the moment.
You need to Tick the Box 'Speed Keyframes' to be able to add them. This then disables the Speed Adjustment box.

In previous Beta's (7 & 😎 I could add the keyframes at the Start to slow down, or Hold, the video.

But as the Green bar does not change in duration to match the new Video time, it was difficult to add the Keyframes at the end in the right place once the Speed had been adjusted.

Now in Beta 9 I am really struggling to get the Keyframes at the Start. I can add them, but when moving one to a Zero Speed it seems to move the Start Position of the Video.

Jill, I agree, something wrong with changing/adding first keyframe and scale of the timeline.
Please wait, we'll improve the code.
