Today after many attempts and hardware experiments we finally reproced this problem on our computer in office. We installed ADM Phenom X4 quad-core CPU and removed external NVIDIA PCI-E video card. It's working with integrated ATI-AMD HD 3200 video card now. We'll explore this problem right now. Thank you for for the help!

Thank you very much! I'll think about next steps to solve this problem.

Thank you! Ray, Jean, Please try this version: http://www.wnsoft.com/test/picturestoexe-setup_2010-11-07_1.zip

Ray, I'm grateful you for your patience and quick replies! Last question for today, will official version 6.5.4 freeze if you start to drag a picture from the File list, but drop it outside the Slide list (say drop it back to file list)?
-
Ray, Thank you. If it possible please run this version: http://www.wnsoft.com/test/picturestoexe-setup_2010-11-06_2.zip I've temporarily modified view of picture during drag'n'drop. You see grey rectangle, instead of picture. It's OK for this test.
-
Ray, Excellent, please try this new version: http://www.wnsoft.com/test/picturestoexe-setup_2010-11-06.zip (The installer and About window should say version 6.5.5.)
-
Thanks, Pierre! Exactly that I need. So I can assume that freezing happens right after VISUAL drag-n-drop to (or within) Slide list? - Will it freeze if you move slide by mouse (change time position on several seconds) in TIMELINE mode? - copy and then paste one slide to slide list?
-
Ray, Jean, Thanks! One more question please. In official version (6.5.4) does freezing occur when you: - add slide by double clicking on a picture in the file panel (without visual drag-n-drop) - if you go to the Objects & animation editor, simply move a main picture to a half of screen, close the O&A editor. Do you see the result of this change in the MiniPlayer? Or it freezes? - will it freeze if you move slide by mouse (change time position on several seconds) in TIMELINE mode? - copy and then paste one slide to slide list
-
Ray, OK, thanks! Please try the latest special version I posted in previous post today.

Thanks, Please try a new test version of PicturesToExe: http://www.wnsoft.com/test/picturestoexe-setup_2010-11-05_1.zip The caption of the main window should contain "2010-11-05_1". In this version I've deactivated preview for selected images in the file list. It displays only picture of selected slide in Slide list. Please ignore this visual bug. The only important thing - will it work or freeze?
-
Ray, Thank you! Please can ask one more question - what happens in PTE, if you try open (via main menu | File | Open) already loaded project, same project file? Will it freeze the program?
-
Ray, Jean, Please try this modified version of PicturesToExe: http://www.wnsoft.com/test/picturestoexe-setup_2010-11-04_1.zip The caption of the main window of PTE should contains words "2010-11-04_1". It means that you run this special version. Will it freezes on your computers with Aero Glass enabled?
-
Ray, Do I understand right that it's possible to run PicturesToExe 6.5.4, load some project and click to any slide in the Slide list below to see a preview in preview area without freezing of PicturesToExe? Is it possible to rewind position of cursor below the preview (miniPlayer)? Then load another project, select some slides. All it doesn't freeze the program? But if you modify existing project, move slide or add new slide, or create new project and add first slide it causes freezing?
-
Ray, Thanks. Can you do same in PicturesToExe? Without modifying of projects.

Sorry for the misprint: http://www.wnsoft.com/test/SlideshowPlayer.zip
-
Please try this test player of slideshows: http://www.wnsoft.com/test/SlideshowPlayer.zip (800 KB) Click "Open Project" button, choose any working .pte project file. Slideshow should player. Try to rewind position (click "Play/Pause" after rewinding to resume). Then try to load another project. How it works on your PC?

Some users of PicturesToExe Deluxe 5.5 to 6.5 have a problem with freezing of the main program when they add new slides or move slides, or just load another project. This issue happens only under Windows 7 with Aero Glass. We need more statistic on this problem. (Aero Glass is a new view of user interface in Windows 7, windows has semi-transparent border and caption, 3D effects on minimizing/restoring of applications.) If you experience this problem, please reply on several questions. If you can't reply on some question, just skip it. - Name of CPU; - Number of cores: Dual or Quad; - Size of system memory - Name of video card - 32 bit or 64 bit version of Windows 7 - When freezing of the program happens? (Adding of new slide, start of PicturesToExe, opening of a project) - Do you have any problem with running of executable sequences earlier created in PicturesToExe 5.5 to 6.5? Thanks in advance! Currently I'm suspecting that this problem related with quad-core CPUs. So if you have 4 cores CPU and everything is OK under Windows 7, please let me know.

Ray, Mary, Please reply in that topic on my questions: http://www.picturestoexe.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=12549 Thanks! Brian, Wikipedia says it's can has 2 to 6 cores: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intel_Core_i7 This problem is a mystery for me! I don't understand why this freezing happens only in Windows 7 (not in Vista) and only with Aero Glass interface. We've checked many times our code. If we make obvious mistakes DirectX informs us in debug mode.
-
Mary, Please let me know: 1) Is it possible to run created executable files of slideshows? 2) Do you know a number of cores in the Intel CPU - 2 or 4? I recommend try install the latest drivers for your video card from NVIDIA website.
-
I just re-sent again your license key in email. Please let me know about result.

Xaver, Please see my reply in that thread: http://www.picturestoexe.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=8144&view=findpost&p=80820

Thanks, Xaver! I plan implement similar feature to the next version 7.5. Did you see "History of changes" (under File sub-menu) in Google Documents? You can return back state of your project to a day ago or a month ago. This feature will store only .pte project file (no pictures or audio files). There will be a special storage (a folder) in system folder (like Templates folder). And the program will pack a project into ZIP archive. It's a fully automated system, it will correctly recognize when you copy, rename or Save As project inside PicturesToExe or outside in Windows and provide history of changes for cloned/copied/new projects. Probably I'll add Import/Export to move history of changes to another PC. There is only minor concern - isn't this system too complicated?
-
Please imagine how many copies of PicturesToExe's source files I have to do? Every day, for any all alpha, beta or final versions. Discs, HDD, flash drives. You will not excuse me if I lose sources files of PicturesToExe

1) Please let me know what video card installed in your computer? I recommend to update (or re-install) drivers for your video card. 2) Did you perform a new installation or with importing of settings from previous version? Please uninstall version 6.5 and try new clear installation.
