  1. Al, We can add special option to "Customize slide" window which may override global settings of aspect ratio for such slides where you want to use another aspect ratio. Question about "Cover screen" option. What do you think if I will show warning message when you choose this mode in Project options:
  2. I apologize that choice of aspect ratio and modes looks a little bit complicated on first look. We adopted this idea from DVD-Video, DVD players, and video projectors. There are two modes in Project options which describes how slide will be shown of a screen. "Fit to screen" always fit the slide (keeping choosed aspect ratio) on the screen, without cropping of parts of a slide. "Cover screen" - slide will be enlarged (also keeping aspect ratio) to cover all screen. Some parts of the slide will be invisible outside of the screen. Pan/Zoom effects definitely requires aspect ratio modes. Anyway we're trying to suggest optimal settings by default and no need to change them if you don't have time to learn all them. About "Cover screen" mode. Almost all DVD players or TV screens suggests this option for watching DVD disc. With this option wide picture of a movie will be enlarged to cover all TV screen. You can enabled this option in slide-shows in two ways: 1) Using command line - type for example: pteshow.exe -cover for my demo slide-show. 2) And second way globally for all displays enabling this option in Project options. I agree that this global option maybe dangerous without full explorering how it works. But for some authors this option can be usuful. Probably we have to explain in Project options how it exactly works? About confusion with four similar options "Fit to screen" and "Covert screen" in Project options and in "Objects and Animation" window. It's my mistake, although they are similar, but in Objects and Animation I will rename them to "Fit to slide" and "Cover slide".
  3. Nice technique! We'll try to realize antialiasing (in v5.10 or earlier). Benefits of Rectangles that they don't take video memory and render with highest speed on the screen.
  4. We keep and don't delete all messages. I have copy of old forum 2000-2002, but it's in Snitz 2000 format and no convertor to Invision Board format, it uses Windows technologies, we use Linux for forum hosting now.
  5. I can't download your new work. Server reports me that it allows only 500 simultaneous connections for entire my country.
  6. Yes, in beta #3 and very soon. Now Aleksey is finishing "battle" with DirectX API. Minimizing/restoring of window is fantastically difficult task in DirectX.
  7. No plans at this moment, because no benefits for slide-show. We need not to have memory usage more than 2 GB. 32-bit software works fine under Windows x64 if it doesn't contain dangerous optimizations/tricks.
  8. Lin, I can just make possible adding of several new images. They will be inserted to slide or on a current *one* selected object.
  9. Lin, Do you speak about possibility to add several new images to current slide (using "Add image" -> open dialog)? If yes, with this possibility they will be inserted onto currently selected object?
  10. Please wait for the next beta #3 where I improved Visual editor with several new important options. Grid in Visual editor in my TODO list. I'll not promiss exactly when. We're finishing work with re-initialization of video card. DirectX is a very complex interface and even minimizing, restoring, or Alt-Tab during watching of slide-show require to fully re-initialize slide-show.
  11. Jim, Please let me know URL of web site you have tried to open. And what security software you use which shows such warnings? Our main web site www.wnsoft.com doesn't have any active content, no scripts, no PHP, only static .html pages.
  12. We're working on beta #3 now and also we're testing PicturesToExe 5 under Windows x64, Windows Vista and Windows Vista 64-bit. All is OK and work is successful.
  13. Slide-shows created with final version of v5.00 will work in VirtualPC on the Mac. As another way - producing of DVD.
  14. Thanks for testing! Ignore visual problems and with locks up - it was quickly written test. I think we'll try to use variant used in Gamma2 test for next beta #3.
  15. New Navigation bar is almost ready, but not implemented in slide-show engine yet.
  16. For now there is only one possibility to utilize your powerful video card it is installing of Windows XP using Apple's BootCamp.
  17. We'll fix it soon. Thanks.
  18. We found solution for this problem, but we need to test it a little. http://www.wnsoft.com/test/Gamma.exe (150 KB) Please download this test, run it and after several seconds press Esc button. If colors will be OK, it's good. DirectX doesn't care about of gamma and it's not descibed in documentation...
  19. I'll try to reproduce this problem. I downloaded Monaco EzColor demo from Monaco System web site. 1) Please try these two additional test examples: http://www.wnsoft.com/test/GammaTest.exe (380 KB) and http://www.wnsoft.com/test/GammaTest2.exe (400 KB) 2) Also try to run some another DirectX game. It's necessary to run 3D game which works on fullscreen. (Not 2D game.) 3) Please run dxdiag utility. Start -> Run -> type dxdiag choose third tab ("Display") and click "Test Direct 3D" button. Perform several test which DirectX will suggests. Will color profile unloaded after this test?
  20. Nick, It's very wonderful that you found reason of the problem! I'm very grateful to you. Only one correction - Geforce 6200 This case is added to my database. I just thought that I missed to suggest test with playing of sample of HDTV video clip. I'm sure that Media Player could had exactly same problem.
  21. I added your suggestioon to our TODO list. Good idea. I can't promiss exactly when it will be added, but it is in our plans. If you created slide-show with aspect ratio 16:9 and see it on your 4:3 display you see black strips. With "Cover screen" option slide automatically will be proportionally enlarged and will cover entire screen. On 16:9 screen no difference. Alternatively you can enable this mode for any slide-show using command line. Type pteshow.exe -cover for example We'll add speeds (Linear, Smooth, etc) to Pan/Zoom/Rotate effects. Ron, Buttons, Hyperlinks and Text objects are not included to beta #2 and still not actions like "Run application". We're working on these functions.
  22. Please try my example: http://www.wnsoft.com/apr/show/PteShow.zip Will it unload color profile? If yes, I think the most likely problem in MonacoGamma program. And any DirectX application or game will cause same problem. I'll try to find and install this MonacoGamma, probably I can do something with this problem.
  23. Forum in 2001: 2003 As we tested even on Geforce 4 MX440 in 1280x960 Fade effect with new graphical engine using hardware acceleration works more smooth than in old versions of PicturesToExe. I'll think more about optimization for old video card. Same slide-show with maximal sharpness and quality on fast video card and a little blurred reduced picture on old video card. If it will possible, it will be good result of this discussion!
  24. Patrick, First of all, v5.00 will suggests all possibilities as v4.48 We don't discard support of old PCs. PicturesToExe always suggested new effects (Fade in 2001, Push effect in 2004) which were intended for modern PCs. I read recently Microsoft's statement that about half of video cards are ready for Windows Vista. It means that these video cards will great work in PicturesToExe 5, too. It means that we may consider that about 50% of PCs are ready for PC. Probably not all, but home PCs really. I understand your worrying. But there will be as usually slide-shows for all PCs with simple effects and some slide-show with Pan/Zoom effects. And in 2-3 years almost all PCs will able to play any kind of slide-show. p.s. It's good that there is such kind of discussion - it's feedback and intended for improvement of the program.
