  1. Igor Many thanks for your assistance. I hade not yet downloaded versions beyond 4.3. Waiting in anticipation for version 5. I will however download version 4.6 in the meantime. Once again thanks for help and for a really excellent piece of software. regards Gogs
  2. Has anyone come across the following exception error when creating a P2E slideshow: Exception EFOPENERROR in module P2EPREV.EXE at 0000DDB1, Cannot Open File. I have encountered this on one or two occasions when using an image scanned to bitmap from 35mm slide on Nikon Coolscan. The scanned image was altered in Photoshop, desaturated to a B&W image, resized to 1024 X 768 and saved as a JPEG when inserted in the P2E slideshow the slideshow runs until this image which then returns the above exception error. Initially noticed that the rtesized image was at 700 pixel per inch but have adjusted that to 72 PPI still same error. Have tried copying original scan to another file name and still the same result. Using the original scan in colour and resized as a bitmap image worls OK. Would be grateful if anyone can throw any light on the problem which does not happen with all scanned images. Gogs

May I also offer seasons greetings to everyone including Igor and his team and wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. I would also like to take the opportunity to thank Igor and his team for all their good work to date in giving us a truly wonderful piece of software. Keep up the good work and I look forward to Pictures to Exe 2006 nd whatever that brings. gogs
  4. Igor you are a genius. Every version just gets better and better. I get exicited waiting for each new release. Keep up the good work. From a very apprecative user. gogs
  5. Nettleton DaveG has probably hit the problem on the head. I have had this problem in the past and it was because I had not allowed enough time between slides and transitions. I have found that you need at least a full half second or more clear between each slide time (including transition). Check it out on the time line. gogs
  6. Ted The In-focus 4805 we have at our Camera Club is SVGA. AV shows are presented with digital images 1024 x 768 pixels saved in JPEG compression quality 6. The images look superb. I believe the Club also has some sort of licence to cover use of music. I not sure what the position is regarding use of music elsewhere or when uploading to somewhere like Beechbrook. Perhaps others can advise better on that. gogs
  7. Hi Ted I am a member of a local Camera Club and we have always presented a twin projector AV show at our annual exhibition. Last year we purchased a digital projector as a means of moving forward into digital AV. The projector is an Infocus 4805 DLP, although I think this model may now be superceded. It cost at the time around £1200. The quality is excellent. We used it for the first time in our exhibition in March 2004 when we presented an hours show half with traditional slides and a half digitally with a series of P2E sequences. The response was amazing. In our search for the projector we considered both LCD and DLP projectors and opted for the DLP which I think projects better onto a big screen (with LCD you can more readily see a grid effect on the screen). There are lots of differnet makes and models out there so choice is not easy. But I could certainly recommend Infocus. gogs

Thanks guys for help. I have had alook at them all. Particularly like the photoshop plug-in as I wanted to be able to use part of apicture from each show. I am also trying Snico but my PC has froze up a couple of times. Not sure if it is Snico causing that. Thanks also to Ken for pointing me to the icon library. Many Thanks to you all. Regards gogs

In project options it is possible to add your own icons for the exe file. I would like to personalise each of my shows with their own icon. Can anyone tell me best way to go about this. Do I need an icon creator or afile convertor. gogs
  11. Sorry about the last post being duplicated. Must have got a bit trigger happy with the mouse. Gogs
  12. Hi It seems like this topic has been well and truly covered but if I may add one more comment. I am also a member of a small photography club and we have just purchased our firts digital projector. It is the InFocus 4805. This is a DLP projector as opposed to LCD. My fellow club members and I have all been impressed by the quality of the output. I cannot compare with LCD projectors as I have never seen similar images on both types of prpjector. One of the reported downsides of DLP technology was that some people experience a subliminal rainbow effect when moving eyesight direction. However no one at our Club has yet experienced this on the InFocus model we have. I cant remember all the specs off hand but you can these from the InFocus web-site. Gogs

  14. Ed I have had same problem burning to DVD with U-Lead. Shimmering I experienced was within the picture not at the edges and more or less the same as you describe. Unfortunately I don't have a solution for you although each time I have burnt a DVD I have ticked the sharpness filter box. Has been suggested that I try without sharpness filter but have not been able to do so yet. I did read recently in a UK Digital Photo mag a review on different DVD authoring programmes and the review had noted this effect (using UK PAL TV system). Quote from article "PAL TV system has frame rate of 25fps. Each frame has two fields derived from mains frequency of 50Hz. These two fields alternate and a flickering effect can be evident as the image switches from one to the other. This is unnoticeable in regular moving TV but can be evident on freeze frames or still images." From the review of 6 products Photodex ProShow Gold gave best performance with no flicker. ULead DVD PictureShow2 gave the worst. Unfortunately I am using a Ulead product (Ulead DVD Movie Factory 2). Don't know if this rambling helps you any but what it suggests to me is that it might be down to the product used for burning the DVD. gogs
  15. Thanks Ken. I will try these options and post results in due course. gogs
  16. Thanks Ken. I am not when you are talking about edges whether you mean the edge of pixels or the edge of the picture. While I have seen shimmering on a border line around a picture my problem here is actually shimmering inside the picture either before or just after the transition. I had thought like you suggest that it was something peculiar to the TV but the same thing happens when run on my laptop and also through a DLP projector. I have looked at the previous posts you pointed me too and note that it may be a result of ticking the check box for the sharpness filter. I will try burning a show without doing this and see if there is a difference. I certainly dont recall having seen this before with previous versions of P2E. Of course I may just not have taken it in at the time. Many thanks gogs
  17. After creating AVI in P2E I burn to DVD using ULead DVD Movie Factory2. Transitions etc are OK and generally so is playback quality. However I notice on some pictures that there is a sort shimmering effect normally but not always around patterns. Is this just something that happens in the encoding process, speed of burning etc. or can it be avoided. Has anyone come across this before and if so can you offer any words of advice. Gogs
  18. Hi Jeanie I use Alto MP3 Maker. Its shareware, very cheap and is so simple to use. You can use it free if you only download the demo version. You can then use it an unlimited number of times but cannot rip any tracks from the CD from track 12 and above unless you register. Gogs

    GIF files

Hi Sam Thanks. I do not have XP on my PC but have it on my laptop. I cannot find Microsoft Office Tools, however. I did not know that the GIF had to be added as an object so will try it again with Photoshop. Gogs.
  20. I thought it was possible to create a GIF image with a transparent background for use in P2E. If I make one in Photoshop I can save with transparent background> However when I use it in P2E with a transition it comes in with a black background. Am I trying something that just is not possible or can anyone help. Gogs
  21. I can't believe that P2E just keeps getting better and better. Its my favourite piece of software. Just a couple of things I would like to see. One that alrobin suggested i.e. ability to have transitions closer together i.e less than half a second would be good. The other thing that it would be nice to have is tabular window with slides listed in order with transition types and times that are possible to be adjusted quickly on the table. gogs
  22. Hi Chris I have made a few presentations now and have added soundtrack using Acoustica MP3 Audio MIxer. It is also a multi track mixer which would allow you to do all that you want to do. I have used it for mixing tacks, splicing several pieces of music, adding spoken commentary and adding sound effects. You can also fade volume up or down and pan each track to the left or right channel if you wish. It costs roughly the same as PTE. Gogs

    Music

This question was one I also pondered over when I first started using PTE. A forum member pointed me to Acoustica MP3 Audio Mixer which I find suits me excellently. Acoustica is a shareware program and only cost £15. You can find them at www.acoustica.com. There are multiple channels, probably more than you will ever need but ut is easy to use. It allows you mix music, adjust the volume of specific tracks, fade out, crossover, you name it. You can even have silence between tracks or at the satrt and end of a slide show and its aa awful lot cheaper than Adobe Audition. Gogs
  24. Have tried bbdigitals suggestion and have allowed at least 1 full second between transitions. Seems to be running OK but as it was an intermittent problem might have to run the presentation a few more times to be sure that the problem is solved. Many thanks.
  25. Thanks bbdigital. Transitions in the area causing the problem are butted right up against each other but do not overlap. I will try adding a period between the transitions to see if this helps. Alan. I thought that might have been the problem initially but I have copied the presentation to the hard drive and get the same problem. I will try bbdigitals suggestion and see if that helps. Tahnks all the same.
