  1. Thanks Dave for the thought. Probably while you were writing, I found a visual wave for the second clip. It was indeed hidden off-screen left, at the first of the show. I have now slid it to the right, aligned it with the video above it. BUT the intended fade-in and the adjusted envelope that show in the customize and envelope view, do not show in the timeline wave form, and more seriously, do not happen or sound when the PTE is run.
  2. My current PTE project is composed mostly of video clips, all have been converted by PTE. I need to fade in and fade out on some of the video clips. To accomplish this, I have set several of the clips to be soundtracks so I can use the envelope as well as the customize clip to adjust the volume as needed. So in project options, and customize slide, and in the sound envelope window, I can see and hear the fade in and out works properly. But when I preview the show, or when I look in the main timeline of the slides, only the first video sound track is shown as a wave form. When I preview the show, only the same video/sound track plays the fade-in, fade-out. The next two video clips run without the intended sound adjustments. Can anyone tell me how to correct this problem? The attachment here is a screen capture, showing how only the first of the three video clips displays the expected wave form.
  3. Thank you Gerard! I think the AV has become even more relevant recently.
  4. A few years ago, we enjoyed a very fine AV from one of our French members. It was addressing the danger of genetic modification of seeds, I think. Sure I must have it, but can't find it without the exact name of the .exe or .zip. Can someone lead me to my own copy or link me to a new download?
  5. Gary, currently, I am seldom bothered with all the video conversion options that drove me somewhat crazy for years. So, I can not readily answer your Mp4 etc. questions. I can say, I have become a huge fan of the built-in converter Igor has in PTE. Like you, I integrate video in many of my home/family shows. I recently made a 34 minute "trip report" AV containing mostly video with perhaps 60 stills. PTE's built-in converter, as said, did not save any space, but made the product run smoothly as video. For many of my productions, I keep an EXE version for myself and possible projector use to an in-person audience. But I usually "publish" online a PTE video version as more "family and friends", Facebook, Youtube etc., are comfortable to access the show in that format. Often I prefer my audience to not be subjected to all the "suggested" videos on Youtube when my video finishes. So I may use a quick blog site (Blogger, etc.) as the vehicle for my videos that are hosted on Youtube.
  6. Very good Lin. Not just the technical skill, but the symbolic content. Personal pain at some level I'm sure. I have been using PTE more and more as my almost-sole presentation software for short video. Frequently I am mixing my preferred still images with video of the same event experiences. I've posted very little because they are typically audience specific for participants and don't necessarily "showcase" PTE skill. In a way, PTE has made me "lazy", in that I seldom do any video editing beyond what PTE does for me. I admit, I've had a couple of ideas of integrating video a little more creatively in my PTE presentations, and have thought - Why don't I ask Lin how to do it.
  7. Thanks Igor (and Lin, and others) I am back now as my normal LumenLux. Only now the stats show that I have made about 1660 post per day (my entire history, now allocated to my reset membership of 1 day)
  8. Clearly exceptional in every regard. The composition/organization is as excellent as the photography and technical implementation. Thank you Barry for creating such a wonderful presentation and promotion for Igor's genius and our favorite software!
  9. Enjoyed the sentimental moment. Certainly, I'd like your template. I need an easy place to start, to move my PTE projects out of my own easy confinement.
  10. I always did contend that you could do everything PTE in your sleep! Well done, thank you.
  11. As expected;quality work! Your crackling fireplace scene is still one of my favorites of your PTE constructions.
  12. I think it is great that "diashau" posted his concern/comment in the forum, albeit "auf Deutsch". With the international participation we have, I think no user need hesitate to contribute any way he can. Thanks to those who have sufficient ability with multiple languages to "translate" when it is fitting. I happen to be able to understand "diaschau"s language, but would not be so fortunate with any of our other languages beyond english. So thanks to those who share in this forum.
  13. Right on target in my opinion. Congratulations on such a successful presentation. I'd like to tag along with Barry's observation and express how importantly your photographic exactness allowed your story to come clear with no distraction.
  14. Thank you Peter, I agree with your "conclusions" even though not "solutions.". I think too, after the deductive testing, the video is not relevant.
  15. Yes, it seems the erratic behavior you have noted is likely related. See also my response to nobeefstu's input.
  16. 1. Sorry for my choice of words. PTE does not object to the custom icon, it does accept it in all cases. 2. So Windows XP does not display the custom icon. 3. On several computers, properties displays the same generic icon as the various folder views. Properties does not display custom icon. 4. Different folder views do not change the icon view. 5. Virus protection: Turning off virus protection on originating PC, still will not display custom icon. Also, with virus protection off, a scan of the .exe file detects nothing. BUT, the above led to something. I have a laptop that has never had any virus protection installed. When I copied the PTE.exe show to that never-protected laptop, the custom icon displays in all views! 6. So Stu, it seems you have us headed in the right direction, thank you. I hope you can maybe shed additional light now with the info above. What still seems strange to me, is that the custom icon displays correctly onall the pc's, until the .exe file size is some critical size? (I also created a version for showing on Mac, and the custom icon shows fine on the Mac.)
  17. I often like to use my own icon for an .exe file created with PTE. I have now spent a couple of hours trying to determine why PTE will accept an icon for some .pte/.exe creations, but not for all! The icon itself, seems not to be the issue. The same icon can work in some shows, and not others. My diagnosis so far, is that the size of the .exe or possibly the number of slides, is the problem. The problem first surfaced as my .exe file was approximately 1Gb from 236 slides including one video file. A new project, of only 3 slides, accepted the icon just fine for the .exe. Then from the 236 slides, I created several .exe files, after removing various numbers of slides. Ultimately, I narrowed it down, that the icon fill "work", show as the created .exe file, for 170 slides, but will not work if I have 175 slides. It is not a matter of which 5 slides are removed. The 175 slide .exe is 752MB, and will not utilize and display chosen icon. Two .exe's, using 170 slides each (different slides removed from the 175 slide PTE), each accept and display the chosen icon. So 175 slides for .exe of 752MB will not utilize the icon, but two versions of 170 slides each, produce .exe's of 730MB and 740MB and both accept and do display the desired icon. Question for Igor, and the rest of you/us: Is this a bug in PTE or a constraint in Windows for .exe files accepting .ico files? I have done my testing with PTE Version 7.01 and Version 6.57. Attached image, shows the .exe files that accept the .ico of my choice, and those that do not.
  18. Hey Colin - that's a great way to share your ride. I mean PTE is very functional now for this type of "experience" sharing via AV. Sure, some of the video we accommodate is not our HD of choice, but it gives a great feeling of "candid" and "grass roots". I think you handled this presentation just right.
  19. Thank you Jill! This part of getting old is definitely for the birds! Indeed, I had recently used the TV feature, but thought I had removed it when I set "% of the slide to show main images" to 100! Now solved, thank you again.
  20. The attached screen capture shows what I am asking. The purple frame appears in the O&A window as seen. The slide area behind the purple shade, shows in entirety when the show preview is run. Don't know if this is a momentary lapse on my part, but I don't know what the purple border is, where it came from, or how to get rid of it. I suspect this will not be a long discussion, but a simple "know" from someone. I hope.
  21. Thank you, I have not been aware of the give-a-way site.
  22. Thanks Lin - I took your lead = great program (for me)! I was ready to write a review myself. Late one night I took 10 minutes to read the S10 webpage intro/instructions. Next morning within 20 minutes my first encounter was successfully on the web. The toughest part for me was to know for sure the address of my "upload server." But my first guess was successful. With such an easy, successful, start then meant I had to play longer and try a few more things. Eventually, after several ammending uploads, I encountered some hitch with the FTP uploads - would no longer complete properly. I had to use a third party FTP temporarily. BUT, even with that detour, one of my favorite features of S10 is, indeed, the built in FTP upload facility. Using the built-in, most changes, even added photos, are very fast - as the program detects and uploads only the newphotos or information. The program's internal logic is great. The interface is intuitive and clear. And even sometimes-possibly-self-proclaimed grouch, Ken, could enjoy this one! If anyone wants to take a look at the website results, or the photography, you are welcome at the links below. I welcome your comments on both. http://tinyurl.com/Pfeifferhorn http://tinyurl.com/42uep9v http://do-some-good.com/albums/Test_album/index.htm http://tinyurl.com/HiSchoolFootball
  23. Quite fine all around - very enjoyable. I am especially impressed with your photography on the dragonflies! Nice choice of music, paced well.
  24. In V7 Beta, is there PTE ability to control volume of sound track of an inserted video? I know we have volume control of other sounds and comments, but am I missing the way to control volume of video's own sound?
  25. Thank you Tom! I've easily accomplished the immediate task with it. It made the light & color adjustments easily, and the encoding seemed fast on the small file I was adjusting. IF other members have other favorites, I'd like also to learn of those.
