  1. I am so thankful for Igor's addition of the built-in video converter in PTE Version 7 beta! Saves me untold headaches. Now beyond this converter, I need suggestions from forum members for a third party video editor for one specific purpose. I have some very dark, night-time videos, that I need to lighten up (make visible) to include in PTE. Using VLC Player I am able to adjust brightness, contrast, saturation, gamma, successfully for viewing but I can not save the adjusted video image! Does anyone have a recommended (freeware or other) program that is simple to adjust and save the improved video before running the PTE video converter on it?
  2. Thank you Igor for the very handy video convert feature! In the past I consumed untold hours trying various "converters" with varying success. Your built in converter now brings my videos into fine compliance with the desires of PTE and keeps desired high quality.
  3. Thank you Tom, for the link as well as the likely accurate condemnation of the graphics memory. The laptop currently is maxed at 2gig Ram. Originally the laptop had 256 MB ram(!)which would show as 192Mb. I guess that means 256 -192 = 64mb for the graphics?! Does it also mean, that even with 2gb ram, the graphics would have access to only 64mb still?
  4. I am on the road with a laptop I have not previously tried with Version 7 Beta's. I can see no video in my own project preview, nor in .exe files created by other users. In my own project preview, any inserted video plays it's sound but no picture. If I run Lin's Statler Brothers exe, the center animation is visible, but not the videos that should be visible in the corners. The laptop is graphically weak with the integrated SiS M760GX chipset . Should it be possible to enjoy PTE video with this hardware? (Video clips that can not be seen in PTE project/preview, can be viewed using other players, such as VLC, on this laptop.)
  5. Lin - You might practice the rest of your life and never get that good! But you did a fine job of bringing the enrichment of these talented musicians to us.
  6. Fascinating - very well done. Thanks.
  7. Welcome back Jeff! It was a welcome sight for me, when I picked up your new AV on Beechbrook. Your presentation is well done, lots of nice "touches" in your technique of photography and presentation. I enjoyed the whole thing and as usual found myself trying to identify a few specific spots! I'm in a three week wait until my next journey into our red-rock zone. Thanks for reminding me.
  8. Thanks for the moments to remember by. Your presentation has just enough of Peter's technique/style to take me back to Peter's pervasive "message" AV's. One of my favorite memories is of Peter soliciting my "help" to promote discussion on another site. Although Peter had strong and well justified points of view, he wanted my "debate" to help get others involved so we could all learn together. I have today in my library a totally unrelated novel, that I purchased on Peter's simple recommendation that I "would enjoy it." I did enjoy it, and thought it cool that Peter had enough insight to correctly predict my enjoyment.
  9. Excellent and totally enjoyable. Your immediate skill with PTE video spots is remarkable. Your artistic vision is wonderful. In my opinion, your presentation is network broadcast quality. Thanks.
  10. Very nice. Expert/professional quality. Also impressive that a collaboration brought such a consistent and enjoyable result. Thank's for sharing this hint of a future with PTE.
  11. Well Lin you certainly hit the ground running with the new video facility. Your implementation of the video on the cube is so perfect that viewers will probably take it for granted. But I guess that is the ultimate compliment for you and for Igor that the spectacular accomplishments are made to appear as "no big deal". The few minutes I have spent with V7 Beta 1 have not got past some malfunctions. Your .exe file runs perfectly on my machine. I wonder if a project file of the show would necessarily also run OK?
  12. Would it be more clear if we call Peter's suggestion for each user to choose a "global" setting, rather than to choose a "default" setting?
  13. Glad you enjoyed the view Mary. Snowbasin ski area has been around as long as I have, yet I've only skied it twice. Alta is about 20 minutes from home, Snowbasin about an hour. Snowbasin was always a "secret" or a "sleeper" until recently. Today Snowbasin is owned by Earl Holding, who also owns the Grand America hotel in Salt Lake City. This accounts for the "glamor" flavor of the public lodging and restaurant, where the photo was taken. In the same structure there is a fancier, more expensive (presumed), restaurant intended for lodge guests who want to take time to make dinner a full event itself. Earl Holding had purchased the resort some years ago and was able to wheel and deal and improve it and position it as a site for some of the 2002 Olympics. The only bad experience I heard during the Olympics had to do with the resort, but certainly not the fault of the resort. Many of the ski fans from Austria were here for their expected hero of the Downhill event. On the day of the event, the contingent of Austrian fans were at the mercy of the weather and imported bus drivers. Neither the weather nor the bus drivers showed any mercy, the buses got lost in the fog, and the Austrians missed the event for which they had come! More relevant to you - The skiing and photography are excellent. The runs are diverse, groomed and un-groomed. I've never been there on a weekend, but as you can see via PTE, a week day is very UNcrowded. My only "reservation" is looking out for snow boarders (jet propelled of course). Alta, where I usually ski, still does not allow snowboarders.
  14. Glad you enjoyed this Robert. There is a lot to do and photograph out here. But I lived in Texas once and found a lot of life there too!
  15. Regarding "shoveling snow", I concede! And it is strictly coincidence that the only pic of me is in the lodge. I was never a great skier, and I now am much less aggressive. At this stage of life, my legs only need to keep up with my shutter finger, instead of the whiz kids. But next time you are over this way, I'd accept a powder lesson from you.
  16. Congratulations Greg and Patti! The Mount Baker is beautifully photographed and nicely AV'd. I'm envious of the experience. Is that territory typically plastered with snow on the trees for long periods?
  17. Greg, the important part first: Enjoyable, interesting, and well done! I enjoyed 056 Ron's so much, that I then watched your 055 with the same result. Starting with some really nice photography of wonderous country, you constructed a fine presentation. I see you give credit to Barry for awakening and nurturing your PTE usage. That's great and you are clearly an attentive student. I think your use of well chosen transitions and placement of subsequent images is very good. I found I even liked Medwyn's music better than sometimes. I think his music is always good, but sometimes too little dynamic and melodic variation to justly present certain slide shows. So again, nice work on your part. A couple of technical considerations - On viewing 056 Ron's, a few of the images seemed to be stretched a little too large when viewing on my 1920 x 1200 screen. Some, only some, appeared they could have used a larger file, which may or may not have been available. The 055 photos however, did not suffer in my view. The other thing that caught my eye, seldom, but yet, were a few zooms or pans that exhibited a little jerk start. On the other side of things, I thought your movement of fog and the falling snow mist off the cliff were superb. So there's my thoughts, and now I realize, you may not have asked for them. The final effect on me, mountain fan that I am, is I may need to trouble you for an itinerary of the journey in such gorgeous country! When I see those grand scenes, that's all I want to do - go feel them. Good job!
  18. Uncrowded beauty of a ski day with family this week. Camera is a great way to moderate the legwork! Visons of Snowbasin on Beechbrook 56 mb = 3 min 33 sec As always, comments Welcome
  19. Thank you Jean-Cyprien! You have produced grand moments of amazement! To have such technical skill to illustrate your creative ideas - you deserve highest commendation. When Igor produced PTE Version 5(?), I thought I understood the potential. Though I would never realize that potential, I have to think you have displayed it here. Thank you again. May the blessings of Christmas continue through the year for you and all.
  20. I'm ready to come down and personally verify all that beauty you've surrounded yourself with! This AV is simply a well done pleasant journey. You do have some very interesting images and beautiful compositions as well as color. On this type of presentation, I really like the light, precise, frame on each photo. Thanks for the view.
  21. I think Igor, you already have it best and can keep it as is.
  22. eRightSoft.com has @Super which should do the job. And the software is Freeware. The only trick is that as you read about eRightSoft and seek to download it - There are many ads for other products by other authors that are NOT the free "@Super" program. Also, the "@" may no longer be part of the program name. The program can convert "all" formats back and forth or can be set to simply combine end-to-end, video files. I do not know if you will have to convert them all to the same format in the program before combining them.
  23. Ken, I found this presentation very satisfying. I have seen plenty of "indian country" but found your photographic message really enhanced by your AV compositional skills. Using those skills brought the lands into relevant historic context. Thanks for sharing a job well done.
  24. Nicely done Andrew. It is a very readable presentation. Is the excellent book/pages your origination or one of The Dom's? No matter except it is so good, I'm wondering if it is available. Your presentation makes excellent use of it. It's my thought to bring this presentation to attention of several friends with close ties to military service.
  25. Thank you Igor for always inspiring us with PTE advancement!
