  1. Merci pour l'info. Is it possible that viewing of any of these slide shows might become possible via the internet?
  2. Hi Ken Just a short "thank you" for this useful bit of information. I have downloaded the help pages listed on the link page you provided so that I am prepared for the worst!
  3. Hi Al I thought PS might be the answer, but had not appreciated the point about stability. Thanks for the advice. This might be something for Igor to consider in the future? Best regards Andrew
  4. Hi I wish to place a series of small supplementary pictures around a "main" picture. Object editor would be the easiest way of doing this, but it appears it is not possible to resize the supplementar pictures from within the object editor. Is my only option to compile collage in, say, Photoshop? Any advice welcomed! Andrew Meads (Severn Bore)
  5. Thanks mhwarner for the Plugin Commander suggestion. It seems to be what I need.
  6. Hi Everyone This is not directly PtoE, but I use Photoshop and Corel Photopaint to prepare my pics for PtoE. I have purchased a disk of various PS plugins for filters; gradients; actions and more. However, there are so many it is difficult to handle them! I would like to be able to preview each of the plugins before I decide to load them into the Photoshop program folder. Has anyone any knowledge of such a piece of "standalone" software that would enable me to do this? Any help would be appreciated.
  7. Hi Lenk I think you will have to make your question a bit clearer.
  8. Hi I, too, am a great fan of Michel Verhoef's work. He has produced another innovative work which can inspire s all. Both PtoE and photography are exemplary as always. Keep up the good work Michel. Severn Bore
  9. I agree about the quick response to requests for improvements. Igor is fantastic!!!!
  10. Hi Have added Picasa to my collection. Works a treat and has a nice clean interface. Thumbnails appear, and can be resized, very quickly.
  11. Hi I presume you are aware that the very reliable latest beta version of PtoE now includes an easy to use light table? All Hail to Igor for his efforts on our behalf.
  12. Hi Michel I agree with Barbara; another masterpiece that everyone should view! Superb! How did you manage to get your PtoE file so small?
  13. Congratulations on a very moving slide show. I visited Oradour on an early summer's day some years ago. Although the sun was shining and the vegetation blossoming colourfully, it could not disguise the terrible events that occurred there so many years ago. The memorials with pictures of the massacred was especially poignant and I still clearly remeber seeing those featured in your tribute. If it is possible for people to visit Oradour, they should do so and stand in the village square or visit the church where so many people were locked in and burnt alive. Visit the museum on site and see the pathetic personal objects still bearing the scars of that day. The walls still bear the scars of the bullets which killed groups of the village men who were rounded up and summarily executed. That war is now long past, but such atrocities still occur around the world. At Oradour we are exhorted to remember - Souviens toi - but unfortunately we seem reluctant to learn.
  14. Hi and "thanks" to all who responded including Hawk It seems that I can only restore my pictures but have lost the transitions. A good learning experience to ensure I back up immediately!!!
  15. Hi I have previously had problems with shows "hanging" - the music has continued but the pictures have "stuck" or a couple of transitions have continuously repeated themselves. After awhile the show then seems to get going again. By trial and error I found that my slide changes were just a bit too close together. The problem was resolved by separating them slightly . I am not sure that slides need to be kept as high as 150ppi. My understanding is that if they are only ever going to be viewed on a PC a monitor can only display at about 72ppi so the extra pixels are unecessary. Although Pto E is very forgiving of large files, I suspect that it is nevertheless best to keep them as small as posssible commensurate with the quality you want to achieve. I am sure others will more ably and eloquently comment on this.
  16. Hi I would like to modify one of my existing shows, but only have the "exe" file, my Project folder having been carelessly lost during a PC failure. I have had a good search around the options, but there seems no way of imprting the "exe" file back into Pto E. My only option appears to be to start all over agaion. Any ideas please?
  17. Hi Jeannie Welcome to this super forum. I am still relatively new to Pto E having tried various other show programs over the years. Al Robinsons's tutorial will get you started and a trawl through recent postings on this forum will guide you ojn specific issues. Pto E is simple to learn and you are then left to your own inspiration as to how good are the products. The timeline for synching to music/audio is a real boon. You might like to have a look at Audacity for editing music. www.audacity.sourceforge.net You will see it mentioned a lot on the forum. The best way to learn and get ideas is by viewing as many slide shows posted on Beechbrook or www.fanaphot.com etc. You will find a deal of advice on resolution for PtoE on this forum and on other digital photo sites. Good luck and we look forward to seeing your first show.
  18. Hi Just a quick enquiry to check on progress with the next upgrade of PtoE?
  19. Hi Bill and Karen If it is not too late, here's wishing you a great holiday in here in England! Look forward to seeing a slide show on your return. Andrew aka Severn Bore Gloucester, England
  20. Thanks to Michel and Patrick for their kind comments. Everyone can improve by viewing the excellent shows that appear on Beechbrook, Fanophot, etc. As Michel will have realised, High Rise Hamburg was especially inspired by Urban Landscape and Boston Up
  21. Just to endorse all of the good things said about this innovative presentation. It contains some excellent ideas (as well as perfect photographs) which will no doubt inspire others (including me). The only small suggestion I would hesitatingly make is that as the show contained more than just one theme it could have been split into two separate presentations. It is great to be able to view so many different presentations to pick up new ideas about transitions and music. Thanks to all who have contributed their presentations and to Beechbrook for making them available. Well done to all concerned.
  22. Congratualtions to Al and Michel for their most recent slide shows on Beechbrook. Have just returned from a trip to Hamburg so was deprived from PTE for over two weeks! Returned home to download these two shows and found them absolutely inspirational. The photography in Al's show was superb. I have been visiting France for many years and have never been able to capture such photos as his. And, as always, Michel has given us food for thought with his creative ideas on Photoshop combined with his usual top quality pics. Thanks for you work. Andrew aka Severn Bore
  23. Hi Quickflicks I have an nvidia card with 32mb, but it is now 3 years old. Will try your suggestion about video accelleration. Thanks Andrew
  24. Hi Al Once again, thanks for your advice. My PC is not the fastest PIII 450, but has plenty of RAM (512). I also checked there were no other programs taking resources awy from PtoE. The problem only seems to arise when I have made a few adjustments via the music timeline and it does not happen randomly. Once it happens it affects the same slide(s) repeatedy. I have tried shifting the transition so that it is not too close to others and also changing the transition speed. The slides are relatively low resolution. Unfortunately none of this has eliminated the problem, although some of the problems have been mitigated. Wiil persist and try and note more precisely the circumstances in which this occurs. It cannot be too much of a problem generally as there have been no other responses to my query. It must therefore be me or my PC! Best regards Andrew
  25. Hi I am experiencing problems with the transitions between a couple of slides in a project I am creating. I have tried to change the style of transition on two or three of my slides, but the changes do not seem to be recognised. They play as I want when using the music timeline, but when I preview I get one of three things happening: 1. the change of transition style is not recognised 2. the show gets stuck and keeps repeating the same slide change 3. a particular slide repeats once and then the show continues from the next but one slide. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Pto E, but this has not helped. Oh! I am using PtoE version 4.20 Andrew aka Severn Bore
