  1. Version 5 gives us an added reason to look forward to 2006. Take as much time as you need Admin1 as we all know you are working very hard to finish the new version. Please take some time off to celebrate the start of 2006. A Happy New Year to Everyone!
  2. Thanks everyone for your help on this. I will try burning another DVD using your suggestions. Meanwhile have a great Christmas. Andrew
  3. Hi Hawk Like to add my thanks. Following your instructions I have successfully copied ten of my slide shows onto DVD using Nero. The only thing I have found (and this might be due to my particular DVD Player) is that I cannot return to the menu page after each sequence in order to choose the next show. They just play one after another unless I press the "skip to next" button. However, that is no major hardship. Thanks again and a Merry Christmas to any one reading this, especially admin1 and Bill!
  4. Hi Bill This sounds a very useful addition. I am often curioous about the camera/lenses used or how any unusual effects were achieved. Another improvement to an already much loved site. Thanks.
  5. Hi Bill Glad to see you back on line. Thanks for your persistence! Andrew (Severn Bore)
  6. Perhaps many of us benefit from NOT having a computer programming background and just get on and use the PtoE programme as creatively as we can. I have to say that the so-called programming bug - IF that is what it is - has never got in my way and presumably has not prevented many, many others from producing some stunning slide shows. As I urged you in my earlier message, please use the programme to create a few shows without getting hung up on something that is clearly not a problem for 99.9% of users. I am sure if you could tear yourself away from the technicalities, youwill find PtoE a joy to use and capable of producing first class results. Andrew (Severn Bore)
  7. Hi again, I have looked at your further comments and played about with the timeline myself and you are right about your experience. I think the reason for the anomaly - as you see it - is that the timeline is designed for relating slide change points and transistions to music. If you set either a fixed display time, or (automatically) synchronise to the duration of the music, then the only variable you would want to apply to the timeline is in relationto the transition times. Most of us use the timeline to apply our own change points in raltion to the music or commentary and also to modify the transition style and duration to suit the "mood". Therefore the perceived anomaly is irrelevant to the needs of the real world use of the timeline. Hope this helps. The best thing is to use PtoE a few times without getting to hung up on the details and you will then find waht a wonderful and creative program this is for very little money. Download a few of the slideshows from Beechbrook Cottage and you will soon become as enthusiastic as the rest of us.
  8. Hi My understanding is that you ended up with two different slide show durations without having applied any material changes between times. However, whilst accepting that this was the case, I cannot see any obvious reason why this happened. I have definitely not had this problem during the couple of years of using PtoE. Have you tried creating another short slide show to see if the same thing happens again?
  9. Add my thanks also. Have already downloaded a picture sharpener and skin "toner". Both seem to work pretty well and very small programs too!
  10. Hi All of the comments on this thread have been valid and interesting. However, Igor has always managed to produce excellent and workable improvements for the great majority and I remain confident that he will do so on this occasion. There are many PtoE contributors who do not have the latest kit and Igor has, in the past, managed to sort out any problems after new versions have been launched. I suggest the time has come to wait and see what v.5 can do for us, bearing in mind we still have the current, very useable version to fall back on. The more time Igor has to spend responding to these possibly unecessary concerns the less time he has to finalise version 5. Let's give the poor chap a break!
  11. The smoothing line has an effect on those transitions, such as the hour hand, page, etc where there is a distinct demarcation line that moves across the picture as it is replaced by the new one. If you increase the setting dramatically - say, to 500 - you will see that the "line" becomes extremely blurred; almost to the extent that the transition effect is almost lost. You will not see any difference if the smoothing line is changed when applied to the fade transition because there is no demarcation line where the new picture replaces the previous one. Hope this helps. Severn Bore
  12. To add to Ronwil's last comment, you can also create an Action to speed things up even further and also to save you having to remeber to convert to Indexed Colours.
  13. Hi Bethan Well said. I fully endorse your comments appreciating Igor's excellent work on our behalf! Severn Bore
  14. Congratulations to Christian on some superbly sharp photos (no doubt helped by the clear Alpine air). Some of the macro shots were of textbook quality. I particularly liked the picture of the (civet ?) cat. What equipment were you using? Andrew (Severn Bore)
  15. Hi Patrick Thanks for letting me know the result of the car crash. I feared the outcome had been fatal. As you said, this is not surprising in view of the degree of damage to the car!
  16. Just watched "No comment". An excellent, well-paced and informative slide show. Great photography and exciting music. As Ken said, a definite one to keep. Although this was based on a composite of events to maintain confidentiality, if the actual patient depicted was a real one, can we be assured he/she recovered from what appears to have been an incredible accident?
  17. Well done Michel. North Sea Jazz is yet another masterpiece from Michel Verhoef. The quality of the photographs are exemplary and he has once again used some incredible effects. Excellent!! Severn Bore
  18. Thanks Bill and family. PtoE would not have been the same without you! Andrew (severn Bore)
  19. What can I add to what others have said. It truly is a sad day if the hackers succceeed in driving away the Beechbrook Cottage site. It has been an excellent facility much appreciated by we PtoE enthusiasts. Indeed, it reinvigorated my interest in audio/visual and provided inspiration and ideas from many of your contributors. If you, sadly, decide not to continue with the site, I would like to join with others in saying an enormous "THANK YOU" and GOOD LUCK" for the future. Trust you will keep in touch with our community via other PtoE sites and the forum. Andrew (Severn Bore)
  20. Hi Have you tried the page effect with customised timing rather than push effect?
  21. Hi No surprise that Day after Day achieved such excellent results in the competition. It is a top show! Severn Bore
  22. Hi Dave G I initially had the same problem, but did a second download and the problem inexplicably went away! Severn Bore
  23. Both Michels have achieved an excellent piece of work with Day After Day. The concept, imagery, use of sound, quality of photography and very imaginative use of PtoE were all exemplary! To have achieved this sort of result by collaboration via email is awe inspiring. We look forward to seeing many more such slide shows from these top class producers. Severn Bore
  24. Hi Boxig Have (another) great vacation - if you can call it that when you continue so diligently with your creations! I suppose ther is no chance you are able to create some way of improving resolution when creating dvds? I guess this will have to await Igor's attentions as it probably needs to be integrated with the root PTE program. With the increasing use of DVD players and of Home Cinema, I hope it will not be too long before we get such an option.
  25. What an excellent production. It was sooooo reminiscent of many slide shows I have sat through in times gone by, including the upside down slide, burning slide and of course the jam! It was also good to see pictures of a by-gone age, Very typically British, I wonder what the Colonials will make of it! (Although I note Lumenlux clearly enjoyed it. One final thought; di the producer appear in any of the shots "as a young man"? Top class!!! Severn Bore
