  1. Hi For precise extractions the pen tool is very helpful, although it takes a little practice to understand how it works. Some people use it in combination with quick mask for easier feathering of edges. Severn Bore
  2. Hi Igor Can you give us information, please, on progress with building the v 4.48 features into v.5 beta 2 ? Thanks Andrew
  3. Hi Paulo I stand correected by Ron. Am not sure why I actually typed Duxford as I was thinking "Shuttleworth" and "Old Warden" Silly me! Andrew SevernBore
  4. Hi Superb first efforts on PtoE. Although new to PtoE you seem to be an experienced photographer and a capable Photoshop (?) user. The shots of the planes were pin sharp and perfectly exposed. Preumably taken at Duxford? I look forward to seeing future shows of yours. Severn Bore
  5. Thanks Ken and Igor, I thought it was just something I was doing wrong! And Al, thanks for the suggestion, which I will try. Andrew
  6. Hi Ken Are you saying that shows made under v.5 will continue repeating until the Esc button is pressed? I have the show set to end on the last slide, but it just keeps going. Andrew
  7. Hi I have just completed a 64 slide show using version 5 beta 2. The new pan and zoom features were used on about 8 slides with no problem. However, I cannot get the show to stop after the last slide. I have tried different options using the different ways of ending the show and music options all to no effect. Has anyone else had this problem?
  8. Hi Lin Would just like to add my thanks for your tutorial on v5 panning. Have not yet had a cnace to play with it, but it will undoubtedly save some anguish! Must also thank Igor and team for another superb upgrade. I really do not know how they do it all! What a brilliant group of people they are.
  9. Hi Igor Sorry to ask this again, but can the speeds of the pan and zoom be changed by the user. In your examples they all seem to operate at the same speed. I am wondering whether if there is the possibility to increase the speed it will affect the smoothness of operation?
  10. Hi Igor Both shows ran perfectly on my PC with Radeon 9800 video card. Some great flower pics! Excellent work on v5 and looking forward to the beta. Can the pan and zoom speeds be varied by the user? Incidentally, I too had the memory leak warning, but note that you already have this in hand.
  11. Hi JEB It would be better if you already had some experience of AVs, but do not let your lack of knowledge put you off. As the lead you will be forced to learn quickly and that is no bad thing. I do not have time to list dod and don'ts as I am about to join a group of local bell-ringers to ring a quarter peal for Queen Elizabeth IIs 80th birthday, and there will be others more knowledgeable than I who can help. However, just four things to start you off: Use P2E as it is very intuitive and an excellent piece of software! Keep the sequences simple. Although there are lots of "whizzy" things you can do in a slide show, you can overwhelm an audience with too many fancy fades, etc. Do not make the slide shows too long- about 5 minutes or so is enough! Have alook at as many sequences as you can, such as those on the Beechbrook site. You will see all ranges of quality and experience level. Good luck!
  12. Hi Ken Sorry to have upset you, but my guess is that most of the pics are from the northern and western hemispheres. I am not advocating that we show conflict and degradation (although I note the images and prior discussion about military subjects), but more that we show more of the world as was suggested in the original remit. I have already confessed to my own complacency in not contributing to the selection, but I hope that in the spirit of the forum this does not debar me from comment.
  13. Hi Firstly I wish to say that the show produced by Maureen and the pictures therein are excellent and the piece of music (which I had never previously heard) was great. Unfortunately there is a "but". The subject of the show was to be World Peace. However, the images (with very few exceptions) show a very comfortable white, largely Caucasian, world, whereas more than half of the world is poor and in strife. It is our fault that Maureen was not given a wider selection of images from which to choose. I, for one, did not send any. Our Forum is a brilliant one and seems to cover much of the world, so it is disappointing that we could not produce a more comprehensive selection of pictures, perhaps illustrating why so many of us crave for a world at peace. Thank you Maureen for an entertaining show . What do you and others think?
  14. Hi Ken Firstly, I have had no trouble playing the show so far. Secondly, you have a few years advantage on me as I am 64 next month, making my arrival on the planet 1942, or about 10years BJ (?) - Before Jukebox. I am unsure when the juke box first arrived, but I think I only became aware of it in the early to mid fifties. Mind you, I was probably too young to appreciate such things before then. Best regards Andrew
  15. Just to add my own appreciation for Jukebox. It covers music from my formative years at Grammar School and then early career, so brought back loads of memories. Super job! Thanks Andrew
  16. Hi Keith, Just to add my thanks for the comprehensive explanation of your technique. You might not regard yourself as an expert, but your results are nevertheless pretty amazing. Keep up the good work. Andrew (Severn Bore)
  17. An amazing show. Can you tell us something about how the shots were captured with such remarkable sharpness and depth of field?
  18. Hi Steve i agree with others' positive comments, but how did you produce this please? Was it done with an old-fashioned sketch pad and pencils and photographed at each stage? Or was it all drawn and painted using Photoshop? If the latter, I presume you used a graphics tablet rather than the mouse! Regards Andrew PS The Art Club of which I am a member will certainly be interested in viewing this, if you have no objection.
  19. Hi Ratfugel I acknowledge your point of view, but cannot agree with your conclusion. It is interesting to note that in films and TV when the director really wants to grab your attention he/she often chooses to use a sequence of still images. In my view they distill the essentials which the totally moving image cannot do. There will continue to be a place for both and I certainly would not demur from including short movie/flash clips into a slide sequence. Andrew
  20. Hi BJC Don't worry, I too did not realise that Template did what it does, so thanks for asking the question in the first place. Severn Bore PS Version 5 is sounding even more mouthwatering. The anticipation is almost painful!
  21. Hi leonard Have a look at some of the earlier postings. Version 5 is unlikely to emerge for another week or two at least. Until now upgrades have always been frre, but Forum memb ers have debated this in recent weeks.
  22. As we have seen from one of our recent contributore, Poser software can be used successfully with PtoE. However, getting to grips with Poser appears to require a very steep learning curve. I would be very interested to know if any Forum members have had practical experience of using this software. If so, how easy or difficult did they find it?
  23. I agree with Verhoef; an amazing show revealing a great deal of imagination by the original artist and the author of the slide show. This is a contributor well worth watching! Can anyone indicate how difficult it is to learn to use the Poser software, which is now up to version 8?
