  1. Hi I have now rerun the preview a couple of times in the past 24 hours without a hitch. My assumption therefore is that there was some glitch in the hardware that occurred while PtoE was running. I am satisfied that PtoE was not the cause of the crash, but more likely, a victim. Regards
  2. I have just experienced crashing of v5.52. Mine is a large slide show of 252 slides and four music tracks. The total show is shown as 232 Mb. The frst time the show previewed perfectly until about half way through and then the PC just went dead; black monitor no activity from the PC and no response to Ctrl/Atl/Del. I had to switch off the PC and restart it. The second time, the show ran perfectly until about the three-quarters point and then everything stopped. The monitor just showed an array of multi-coloured lines. When I pressed Esc nothing happened with the screen, but the music con tinued. I presses Esc a couple more times and then the screen went black, the music stopped and the PC was seeemingly "dead". I switched off and restarted and all seems well with the PC generally, but I have not yet had the courage to retry previewing my slide show, although PtoE starts up OK. I cannot lin k any of these events with any of the issues identified in earlier posts.
  3. Hi Conflow. You were right; I did mean uninstall - an a typo tooooo! But many thanks for your helpful response. Will experiment! Regards Andrew
  4. Hi A number of the Beta versions of PtoE are still shown on my Add/Remove programs list. I am wondering whether it is safe too install these now that we have v5.5, or will it affect my ability to run projects created under the various betas? Thanks in anticipation of your help. Regards Andrew
  5. Hi I have read that the Joint Expert Photo Group has decreed that Microsoft's own version of the JPEG is to be called a JPEG XR. I wondered if anyone could shed any light on this format, ie whether it is a viable and improved replacement for the oridinary JPEG format and whether it can be widely used with various editing and viewing programs. The specifications seem good, but I am reluctant to follow this route if it is likely to lead nowhere. I wondered if anyone had any experience of this format and/or had any views on the matter. I also wonder whether the format would be compatible with PtoE?
  6. It is sad to think that we shall no longer read Ron's regular contributions and opinions and the fact that he could sometimes be quite feisty simply added to his character. He will be missed by many of us and I would like to send my condolences to his family. Andrew (Severn Bore)
  7. I am currently using an Iiyama Vision Master pro CRT monitor with a 19" screen. It gives excellent results, but after about 8 years sterling service, I am thinking of changing it for a TFT monitor. I know CRT is still hard to beat, but can anyone advise on a TFT monitor with a screensize of up to about 22" that would do justice to my mainly photographic work. It would ideally have full colour control and good contrast.
  8. I would like to add Bill and Family to the good wishes for 2008, which we warmly extend to Igor and team. Beechbrook Cottage has made a major contribution to the growth of Pto E over the years and with Bill and family's support and Igor and teams' dedication we look forward to Pto E growing from strength to strength. To everyone ---- have a safe, healthy and photographically rewarding 2008!
  9. Hi Lin and nobeefstu Many thanks for your prompt response to my problem, which has now been resolved with your help. I will also take the advice to zip my show media in future! Thanks again and Merry Christmas to all forum members and especially Igor and team who give us such an excellent service.
  10. Hi I have been reorganising my folders on my various hard drives. However, I now wish to record a couple of projects onto DVD (I had already created EXE files but there seems to be no way of importing these into the PtoE DVD maker), and I wonder whether anyone can tell me how I can re-associate the picture files with the project file in their new location?
  11. Let us hope Ron is soon fighting fit and back in action. His timely contributions have been missed. Happy Christmas Ron and good health in the New Year. Severn Bore
  12. I am getting a malware warning when I try to access the WnSoft Forum via Beechbrook Cottage. However, I do not get any indication of problems when going direct to the forum from my Favourites. All very puzzling - and unnerving!
  13. I have just burned my first couple of DVDs using PtoE de Luxe. Just to say that the process was soooooo simple, and the results are absolutely brilliant! Clearly another great success for Igor and his team!
  14. Just too say how much I enjoyed the slide show "Norvegica". It was well-photographed and nicely paced, with appropriate music. Can anyone please tell me the name of the piano music used in the final part of the seqence?
  15. ...... and it is very intuitive.
  16. Firstly. Hi J Evans Peter S has answered your question about calibration. I, too, succesfuly use a Spyder 2 on my 7 years old Iiyama pro 450 19" CRT monitor. I also use a benQ 19" LCD monitor in a dual monitor configuration, but the calibration software does not provide for this sort of setup, so I only have the CRT calibrated via the Spyder. In adition, I have an IBM laptop which is calibrated using the Spyder. However, most of the cheaper LCD monitors have only limited colour adjustment controls so these calibration devices are only of real value if you invest in the mid to higher end flat screens. Secondly. Admin 1 Thanks for the explanation. Is there any particular contact point at ATI that I should approach, and how do I describe the problem as am not entirely sure of the technical isue?
  17. A few weeks ago there was a post about the colour profile used by PtoE. I have run a couple of searches, but cannot find it so, with apologies, I will ask the question again. My monitor is profiled and all of my photo editing is, of course, determined by this colour balance. However, when I run P to E the program seems to "discard" the profile and reverts to the default monitor colour space. My question is whether this can be avoided, because the shows detract from my careful colour profiling and editing.
  18. Hi Harry Very effective editing software, but I still prefer slides! The price of homes in Texas seems incredibly cheap if the notice featured in your movie is anything to go by. In the UK you might just get a glorified dog kennel for that! Regards Andrew
  19. Hi A very nice evocation of Scotland with some lovely pictures. I especially like the coastal snow scene. It seems you are based close to where the pictures were taken and have represented all of the seasons. Where in fact were your locations? Regards Andrew
  20. Hi Nice show. I am intending to visit |The Black Country Museum in the new year and your photos have added to that resolve. I especially liked the idea of starting and finishing in full colour with sepia tones in between. Two small (I hope constructive) comments: Whilst the music is nice, it is a bit hackneyed and your photographs would benefit from something just a little different. The idea of placing the various enamelled signs against a single background works very well, but if you could "square up" the signs using perspective, or transform tools in Photoshop or similar would improve the appearance. I found the different perspectives to be a bit troubling to the eye. Otherwise, keep up the good work. Regards Andrew
  21. Hi Ken Thanks for the swift reply. I must have overlooked that bit. Best regards Andrew
  22. Hi I am trying to add text to slides using the object editor, but nothing happens. Is this because Igor has not yet added this facility to the latest betas? I have done a search of the Forums, but have been unable to find an answer. Can anyone help please? Thanks Andrew
  23. Hi again Jean Pierre Thanks for the extra information. I will study it and see if I can try to get the same effect. Andrew
  24. Hi Jean Pierre Thanks for explaining how you prepared your puzzle, but how do you use excel to create it? Andrew
  25. Hi Jean Pierre Nice little show. How on earth did you achieve this? I can only thinf of creting layers in Photoshop, but this would seem to be very time-consuming. Best regards Andrew
