I know it's not ideal, but for fancy text effects it is really much better to create them in Photoshop or some other graphics editor. Then you can create exactly the effect you are striving for. Just save your text as a png and bring it in to PTE AV. There are so many layer styles out there to use with Photoshop that your imagination is probably your only limit.

Interesting and good information. But just to be confusing, there is no "Virtual Size of Slide" setting anywhere in PTE AV that I could find, nor did a search in the Online Help turn up any results for "Virtual Size of Slide" (but I guess you already knew that being the keeper of the Online Help and thus post to give us an easy to understand explanation). I guess it just one of those things where if you know, you know. In any case, I seldom take the time to resize my images before creating a slideshow unless I am creating them But thanks for the reminder.from scratch as composites or AI. All of my shows now are 16:9 for .mp4 final creation. Unless they are 4K movies, my images are usually 4000 x 3000 px from my phone or 3:2 from my dsLR, so I tend to choose "Cover" under Project Options / Defaults. Unless the original image is a very tight crop, it usually works ok with perhaps a bit of X or Y pan. Sometimes I squish them a tiny bit to show everything (a trick I learned long ago from Barry Beckham). Other times I do edit and use AI to add additional content at the right and left sides to create an actual 16:9. Other times for a series of verticals or a triptych if the images aren't quite right, I might use the Properties / Aspect Crop, Aspect Ration in the O&A window to get the appropriate size. Of course, if you are still creating .exe files only, then you would want to be more mindful of actual image sizes to keep the final output smaller. Anyway, thanks for the reminder!

It is set against the unforgiving landscape of the Dust Bowl that happened in the Great Plains region of the United States during the 1930s. The song tells a story of hardship, resilience, family, and the stubborn determination to keep moving forward when everything seems lost. This project is a hybrid human-AI collaboration. The song concept, lyrics and video were completely written, directed, and produced by humans at Starfire Media. Assistive AI technology was utilized to shape the instrumentation and vocal layers based on original human songwriting. I created the video entirely in version 12 of PTE AV using many public domain photographs by Dorothea Lange from the Dust Bowl era to which I added various animations, as well as AI generated images and some of my original photographs. It is difficult to imagine what these people must have experienced almost 100 years ago.

I have kept both my styles and transitions and my templates folders on a separate internal drive for years. Program is installed on "C", everything else is on "D" and have never had any problems. Recently re-installed the program on a new computer, copied my entire set of PTE Styles and Transitions and Templates folders to "D", updated the location in the "Preferences/Templates" dialog and I am off and running. Just as an FYI, you can reach this "Templates" dialog (which also includes a folder choice for "Custom Slide Styles and Transitions") either by going to "Files/Templates/Manage Templates" or by choosing "Settings/Preferences" and picking the "Templates" option on the sidebar. Regarding importing styles, I have just tried it and after I close and reopen the program the imported styles are still there. I also tried importing some transitions and can report that they are still there on the menus after closing and reopening the program.

Thanks Igor! This 9:16 aspect crop works well and is very handy. I will find it useful for some of the included Triptych styles as well so I don't have to crop images externally before inserting them into a show.

Thank you! And yes, both the music and vocals were AI generated. He first created the lyrics by feeding ChatGPT a steam of thoughts with direction on how to create the lyrics for a song (verses, bridge, etc.). He then fed that into another program and directed the musical creation, including type of voice, genre, key, etc. etc. He is pretty musically inclined and has been doing music creation and mixing digitally for a while, so he could be pretty specific on what he wanted from the AI. Just FYI, we have also used AI to create a few instrumental only soundtracks for some of my photography videos that I am working on, eliminating the need to find royalty free music.

Happy to report that the second issue is resolved. I had accidentally added a video speed keyframe to the timeline. Once I removed it, the simple speed box is available for editing. Unfortunately, I could not resolve the other issue where several videos in my project do not start with motion as intended but are static. Again, they look just fine in the main window and in both of the Preview and "Preview from Here" windows (all 3 starting in gentle motion). But when I render the project to an .mp4, they all start as static frames before motion begins. On all 3 of them, I adjusted the speed to 50. I also trimmed all of them. If I change the speed back to 100, they seem to work and render just fine, but of course the timing of the slides is off. I checked to be sure that there were no speed keyframes set. If it matters, the first video is a free video I downloaded from Unsplash overlayed with another short video I created in PTE from one of my photos. The last 2 videos were still images animated in Meta AI. As a work around to complete my project, I took each of the videos in question into the PTE Video Optimizer and changed the speed to 50 and also trimmed them and saved them out. I put these modified videos into my project and everything displayed and rendered perfectly. I have made a small project with those 3 files but it is 75 mb. Where do you suggest that I upload it? Thanks in advance for troubleshooting.

There are several videos in the beginning of the project that are supposed to be in motion as they come on the screen. The initial motion is correct in all of the PTE viewer windows and in the preview window and when played in the O&A editor. But when I render the .mp4, those videos start from a static state (not with any motion). Very frustrating. I have rendered my current project (multiple times trying with and without hardware acceleration and both as "Video for Mobile Devices" and "HD and 4K Video" -- all at 1920 30 frames). Just for the heck of it, I ran the video files through the built in converter (although that shouldn't have been necessary). The same problem occurs with those videos no matter what. The initial motion doesn't happen. I have chopped the project down and created a zip template and corresponding shorter .mp4 because the whole project is probably more than 3 gb. HOWEVER, before attempting to upload my files, I just had a thought and tried something. For 2 of the problematic video slides, I reset the speed to 100 and they work fine. The motion in the rendered .mp4 is as it should be. I could not reset the speed on the third file because the speed block is grayed out and locked (as I mentioned in my previous post here earlier today). So, I believe the bottom line is that the new Trim and Adjust Speed piece is still somewhat broken when a video's speed is adjusted to less than 100%. Maybe you can find the bugs without my files but if not, let me know where I need to upload them. Together the zipped template and the rendered .mp4 are about 500 MB.

While creating my latest project I have twice run into issues with the new Trim and Adjust Speed Window. Both times, on separate small videos (less than 12 seconds), I adjusted the speed to maybe 40% or 50%. When I went back in again later to make additional adjustments, the "Speed" dialog was grayed out and could not be changed. I closed the program, reopened, etc. The only solution was to delete the video and re-add it and start over. On the second one, when I closed the window and reopened, the speed said something like 107%. At that point I also tried trimming the video and that entire viewer window in the Speed and Adjust dialog went black. I gave up and deleted that particular video and added it back in again and I had no further issues. I have done quite a bit of work with different small videos in this project and not experienced other issues in Speed and Adjust except for these two, so it is pretty intermittent, perhaps some combination of trimming and reducing speed on the same video. Not earth shattering, but I do believe there's a bug or two.

It would be nice to have 9:16 added to the dropdown for a photo's aspect crop in the Objects & Animations window. I know it is possible to just type it in, but having it in the dropdown would save a bit of effort, especially since we are now able to publish in a vertical format.

Thanks for responding Jill, but I updated my post a few minutes ago. The issue is resolved. I did in fact try everything you mention in your post to no avail. Again, it turned out that PTEAV was sending its sound to my monitor, which actually has no speakers. When it was connected to my laptop by a display port, that worked fine. Now I have a new computer and a set of standalone speakers. Trying to keep things consistent, I had copied some of the PTEAV settings files from my laptop before installing the program on my new computer instead of doing a completely new install. I was about to uninstall and reinstall, which would likely have fixed the issue, but my partner fiddled with the sound object in Windows and discovered and remedied the problem. All is well now!
