  1. Hi Peter, your button carrier frame is overlapping the exit button on both pages, thus preventing the exit button from registering the mouse click. If you make the frame smaller to clear the exit button, then both pages exit when the button is clicked. Geoff
  2. Hi Manuel the link on Beechbrook is for a mac version, do you have one for PC's please Geoff
  3. It seems to me that from what people are saying in this thread, it's not too important what is set as default, but it is important that all choices remain available. Geoff
  4. I'll second that, 16x10 ratio is used much more than people think for the reasons stated by Bert above. 16x9 loses far too much of the captured image from 3x2 format of most DSLR cameras. Geoff
  5. Hi Eric I've been using one of these for about 18 months now, and can't fault it. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Behringer-UCA202-U-Control-low-latency-Interface/dp/B000KW2YEI Geoff
  6. I hope the 16 x 10 option will still be available + fit to slide
  7. Hi Maureen what an inspiring AV.Excellent pictures and a well crafted slideshows. A couple of questions if I may please. Are the pictures shot in Raw, and what post processing software do you use? Thanks Regards Geoff
  8. Personally I am not in favour of a beginner’s forum, although I have sympathy with Steven's reasons for suggesting it. I feel beginners need input from more experienced users, and I have doubts that more experienced users would visit such a forum just to answer beginner’s questions, which would result in beginners trying to help beginners. I am more in favour of Igor’s thinking of publishing forum rules and a code of conduct, but perhaps more important, ensuring it was enforced. It is sad that we even need to be discussing all this, but hopefully with it out in the open this will result in a much better and friendlier forum and a place where beginners and everyone else can enjoy their visits, and get all the help they need. Geoff
  9. I think that DVD should be retained for the foreseeable future as it's still used by many people, and one of the attractions of PTE is that it is feature rich, and long may it remain so. Whilst dedicated slideshow workers may not think the quality of DVD measures up to say mp4, I suspect that the average person watching their wedding pictures, along with their favorite music, on a DVD compiled by PTE would take a very different view, so for purely commercial reasons this feature should be retained, and possibly improved, for the foreseeable future. There is a big elitist trap out there which I think Apple is heading towards, and I would hate to see PTE follow.
  10. It would be more use I feel if you could switch on/off some indicator that showed the key frame positions of other objects in the O&A window ie object 1 has 4 keyframes but these are not visible when object 2 is animated. Therefore it would be usefull if you were able to switch on an indicator showing the keyframe positions of object 1 while animating object 2. Geoff
  11. Hi Barry Thanks for the advise, and on reflection I will go with the 1920 x 1200 size you suggest, as you say this will future proof my slideshows, as much as we are able in this fast changing world of technology. Best regards Geoff
  12. Barry I use 16:10 as that's the aspect ratio of my laptop on which the slideshows run for projection. However the shows are also shown on a monitor and a TV both of which are 16:9 and not wanting to make different formats of the same show, I am happy to live with black bands either side when viewing at 16:9. The reason for choosing 1728 x 1080 is that 1080 is the maximum they are shown at so I didn't see any advantage in making them bigger. Having said that if I intend to zoom an image I save it at double that resolution. DG I think my comments above cover most of the points you raise. Thanks both for your input. Geoff
  13. Hi PGA I'd already done that thanks, I'm looking more for people's observations/experiences and wondered what, if any benifits they'd found in setting the value to actual slide size. Geoff
  14. I make my slideshows using an aspect ratio of 16:10. In project options this sets a default virtual size of slide of 1280x800. I actually use an image size of 1728 x 1080 so my question is should I leave "virtual size of slide" to the 1280 x 800 default or set it to the actual slide size of 1728 x 1080 ? Geoff
  15. Try this link on YouTube for Lightroom tutorials, personal I think it's a great piece of software and wouldn't be without it. http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=lightroom+4+tutorial+for+beginners&oq=lightroom+4&gs_l=youtube.1.1.0l10.29082.30386.0.33385.2.2.0.0.0.0.83.134.2.2.0...0.0...1ac.1.Yjr9mEQ9DWc
  16. Do you mean in the menu Eric, or in the slideshows themselves. If you mean in the slideshows, then yes to 3D transitions, but no to video.
  17. Eric I use PTE created menu's to run all my slideshows, using the "Run slideshow with return" option. There are no desktop flashbacks using this method. However the one problem with using this method is that all the menu's and slideshows have to be created using the same version of PTE. I am using version 7.5.4, which meant that I had to go through all my slideshow and menu files and recreate the exe's using that version. Sounds a bit of a chore, but I have about 50 shows, and am reasonable well organised, and the whole process took about 20-30 minutes. I would recomend version 7.5.4 as soon as you are able as the recent developments have improved the software considerably Geoff
  18. Eric, Brian Thanks for the suggestions, but it was screen capture software I was looking at, for making instructional videos. I am not that interested in video as a medium, and although I have enjoyed some PTE sequences which have included some video, I remain unconvinced that it would bring any benifit to my own slideshows. Geoff
  19. Gary Yes I did a test and the results are not ideal, but it was worth a look. Just going to get BBFlashBack Express and see what the results are like, I'll report back. Geoff
  20. This is the code I recieved (guess it's ok to post it as it's free) and it registered fine. Registration Name: bitsdujour Registration Code: A4065D71-01721AAD-93FFE2A9-9761B175-A46A105A-BB4F9E63-B6A2 Geoff
  21. Boilsoft Screen Recorder is available free for today only from http://www.bitsdujour.com/software/boilsoft-screen-recorder/src=day?utm_campaign=1896863&utm_content=2331779190&utm_medium=email&utm_source=Emailvision Geoff
  22. I'm using Version 7.5.3 on windows 7 pro 64bit, and confirm what Peter says, the spacebar plays/pauses in the O&A window, and F4 toggles timeline/slide view to/from full screen depending on which view mode you are in. Geoff
  23. Hi Lin Great piece of work. I've been trying to get to grips with creative commons licenses, but must admit to some confusion. The situation I have in mind is a photographic competition where all the accepted images are put into PTE shows, placed on a CD and then sent free of charge to all the entrants as a type of catalogue. 1) Is there a licenses to cover this and 2) Is there a cost. I'm hoping that as you use this type of license on Youtube you can point me in the right direction. Thanks for your time Geoff
  24. Brian I did as you asked and got exactly the same results as Xaver got using his project naming, so there would definitely seem to be a problem in PTE. Whether or not this is related to Peter's problem I wouldn't like to say but chances are there is a link somewhere. Geoff
