Hi Barry I would love to see your slideshow, but after spending 5 minutes on mediafire constantly clicking download and repair download links, and then getting one of these scam antivirus scans start to run on my computer, I decided it was an unsafe location and gave up. Would it be possible to upload to dropbox or some other alternative? Geoff

Hi Eric I, interested in this also, but cannot find a listing for the HD600X-LV-B. Is yours the 3D projector as in the manual you attached? Thanks Geoff Edit Sorry just done what I should have done in the first place and read the manual. I see now that a 3D adaptor is needed, not that I need 3D. Just one question, why did you go for 720p instead of 1080, was it just financial considerations or were there other reasons?

Does all this mean that slide shows will no longer be launchable from a menu system, if so then I think I will be following what appears to be the majority opinion on the web and stay well away from this so called "improved" operating system. Geoff

Hi Eric I think Igor was saying that the "Run" option was disabled, and therefore not available. That was not the case when I tried it, but I've just tried what you suggested, and clicked the "Run" option and it all worked fine. Regards Geoff

Hi Igor I did as you ask using IE9 Version 9.0.8112.16421IC 64bit edition, and as you can see from attached image all options were available to me. I selected save, and the exe file was downloaded with no problems. Regards Geoff

Looks like it's not possible without running two sequences. I wonder if there would be any support for in addition to "auto hide after n seconds" there was "Show cursor after n seconds". I would certainly find it useful, and would be interested in Igor's comments on such an option. Thanks for all the input. Geoff

It's part of an auto run menu on a CD and I'd rather not have an arrow head in the middle of the text that someone is reading. I know they could move the cursor out of the way, but it would be better if it did not appear until needed.

I have a menu which consists of three images. The first has information on for the viewer to read, the second is a blank slide and the third the menu page which runs the sideshows from buttons. Is the any way of making the cursor stay hidden for the first two slides but remain visible for the third, without breaking it into two sequences and having one trigger the other? Geoff

The best AV Ever. It's your call
stonemason replied to coopernatural's topic in Slideshows & AV Shows
Mary I remember taking La Creation by Jean-Charles Pizolatto to our AV group, showing it and saying that's the standard we should aspire to. It is still a very good AV, and I stand by my original comments. However picking the best is about picking one, and for me "Ride to the wall" does just about everything an AV should do. Excellent photography, first class sound track, and generates an emotional response in the viewer. As a footnote to the above, the fact that there are so many first class AV's to choose from speaks volumes of the standard of work produced by members of this forum and users of PTE in general. For me it has to be "Ride to the wall" well crafted, excellent photography, and very emotional. Geoff -
I confirm Peter's observations using IE9 and Microsoft Security Essentials Geoff

Davegee intended or not it's to useful to lose, it saves me hours of time when I have 70+ image slideshows all of which need titles to appear. I know there are other ways, but this is the most convenient one that I have found. I've attached my "Titles" template in case anyone is interested. Geoff Titles.zip

The rectangles are very good for providing a semi transparent background for text, which automatically resizes if the text is resized. I use this a lot, and would not wish to see it go bug or no bug. Geoff

Hi Lin This will I'm sure be a great resource for everyone who uses PTE, which I've bookmarked for future use. Many thanks for your continued help and generosity to the PTE forum community. Kind Regards Geoff

Thanks for all the replies,it's always good to keep in touch with what others are doing. After reading what eveyone has said and doing some tests myself, I think that I will make level 8 my standard. I don't use photoshop very much these days, as I find that lightroom suits most of my output needs (I always shoot in Raw)so "save for web" doesn't enter my workflow. If you have yet to try lightroom, I strongly recommend it especially the ability to create quick collections to begin the slideshow creating process. Geoff

Now that slideshows are being made in widescreen format, 1920 x 1080 or 1920 x 1200, with the intention of maximising quality, I thought it may be a good time to ask the more experianced users to express their thoughts on what they consider a good trade off in quality against jpg comression. In the past I have always used the maximum jpg size (12). However this is now leading to bigger and bigger file sizes, and bigger load on the equipment when using animation. Any thoughts on this would be appreciated. Geoff

Hi Jeff For PTE version 7.0.4 on a windows 7 pro 64 bit operating system the path is slightly different. C:\Users\<your user name>\AppData\Local\PicturesToExe\Versions\7.0 It's a hidden file so you will need to set explorer to show all files before you can see it, and replace it with Dom's shadows. Hi Bob sorry I forgot to rename the pte project in the zip file to Birds, but give it a go, it's a template I use for our camera club's national competition, which involves slideshows containing some 550 plus images, and I find this template very quick and easy. Geoff

5 unnecessary replies, when surely a simple thank you would have been better, so thanks Brian for this useful tool. Geoff

Hi Bob Attached is a small template consisting of a blank slide and some text. load the unzipped template into PTE, then add all your images. Next go back to the blank slide and with it selected go to the objects and animations window. In the right-hand bottom pane click on text, and copy (ctrl+c) press F12 to go to the next slide and press ctrl+v (paste) repeat this for all your slides. This gives you a basic "birds name" text and the timings on each slide. Then go through your slides in the O&A window (f12 next F11 previous)select text in each one and edit the individual birds names in the properties tab in the O&A window. You can then delete the original blank slide. Before you do any of the above, check that the text timings on the template blank suit you needs, and make any adjustments before you copy and past your text to the rest of your slides. Having done that go to save as and give the slideshow a name to ensure the template is not over written. Hope this gives you another simple solution to consider. Geoff BirdsTemplate.zip

Ken with all due respect, I think that you are in very dangerous territory with your suggestion that people should use version 4.48, before they use version 7. When people make a decision to part with their hard earned cash for a piece of software, they expect to receive the very latest that software has to offer. Their opinion of the publishers of that software is very much determined by that initial contact and the service and support they receive in the first few months. I really cannot see the likes of Microsoft saying to its customers, "yes you can purchase windows 7, however you must first get to grips with windows for workgroups before you can begin to use it to its full potential". I also agree with Peter and Brian that this topic should be in the main PTE forum where it will get maximum exposure. Geoff

Thanks Davegee the template would be useful, appreciate your time. Geoff

Thanks for the input Davegee. I only take RAW files, and convert as required using lightroom. My question is primarily aimed at images used for PTE slideshows, and avoiding shimmering on the transition from one image to the next, which can be caused by oversharpening. As to competitions, if it's not too much trouble, I would be very interested in how you run competitions using PTE. Our club uses iview media pro to project images on the competition night. This among other things enables us to flag an image on the fly if the judge wishes to see it again to make final decisions. None flaged images can then be excluded from the final judgement slideshow by one keystroke. I can't really see an obvious way that such a system could be as easily achived using PTE, and would be interested to hear from anyone with ideas as to how this can be done. Geoff

I use lightroom to prepare and export most of my images as .jpg files for inclusion in slideshows. When I export, I use the lightroom "sharpen for screen" option, and this seems to work quite well. However now there is the option to "unsharp mask" in PTE, would it be better if the images were not sharpened in the lightroom export process? I will do a couple of trials, but wondered if anyone had any views or experiance in this area. I would be particularly interested in Igor's view on this also. Geoff
