  1. Hi Paul, I will quote what Igor originally said: PTE does a better job of interpolating downwards than it does at interpolating upwards. So, while pixels are lost when downsizing the quality loss is not as bad as, for instance, playing a 1024x768 show at full height on a 1920x1200. DaveG
  2. Paul, Your "Not Far From Home" show plays in the centre of my 1920x1200 monitor (Black Line/band all around). DaveG
  3. Hi Paul, I think it means that your show will fit to screen on any monitor UP TO 1680x1050 but on, for instance a 1920x1200 screen or bigger, it will maintain its 1680x1050 resolution. DaveG
  4. That should please most people Igor. What changes will this mean (if any) in the top left (Menu) portion of the interface? DaveG
  5. Our thoughts are with you all. Best wishes, DaveG
  6. Umberto, I'm not sure if I fully understand your statement, but producing multiple shows to cater for different screen resolutions does not work for me as well as making one show which fits all resolutions and screen sizes. JPD has demonstrated this approach and I would urge you to look at it. I am, in the main, using 1920x1200 images and making all shows fit all screen resolutions. I would be a lot happier if I could restrict the upper limit of the screen resolution shows are viewed on. DaveG
  7. Hi Ed, No assumptions made (I'll leave that to others) but what I was offering was an option to the overcrowded monitor problem if Multi Tracking is introduced. To illustrate, I have just counted 65 objects in a slide that I am currently working on. If there were a keyframe track for each object.............. I can't envisage being able to see track 1 and track 65 at the same time, even on a Multi Monitor system, without some sophisticated switching arrangement for tracks. Nevertheless, for those who can afford it, want it or have enough space for it, Multi (Dual) Monitor support would not only help in this problem but make the days a little brighter for at least one other member here (not me). http://www.picturestoexe.com/forums/index....=9351&st=23 DaveG
  8. Peter, Just out of interest do you copy my finding that if a new button is created in your original menu which is not connected to a frame (parent/child) it behaves as it should? When I tested your original I was able to have your button on a slide doing the wrong things and my button alongside it doing the right things. If it is the slide duration surely it would affect all buttons (on the same slide)? Rephrase: The slide duration workaround is only required for objects which are part of a parent / child relationship? Just trying to understand. DaveG
  9. Here's an idea - it was recently requested that Multi Monitor capability be built in. If this was done it might be possible to have any combination of Timeline / Mini Player or O&A with multi keypoint tracks on one monitor and the main display on another? I disagree with the Audio Tracks but if you must have it that would appear to be a way forward. DaveG
  10. Hi Peter, Your slides appear to be set up correctly as I'm sure you've checked more than once! If it is any help, I can add new button to your (TreeBkgrnd) frame and set it up to do what you want and it does it correctly. Just a stab in the dark - have you shuffled the slides about at any stage. Your button is part of a parent / child setup - is it something to do with that? DaveG
  11. I'd be interested to know the Pixel sizes of the images and their file size in Mb? DaveG
  12. Relax Brian, I have Clipboard Viewer as a Start Menu item (PINNED). I was refering to the fact that on my XP Home and Media Centre PCs the "Set Program Access and Defaults" in System Tools is NOT an option. The point I was making was that screen shot POSSIBLY ( yes that's right POSSIBLY) refers to XP Pro and NOT to XP Home etc. so those of us with XP Home etc MIGHT POSSIBLY be scratching our heads and wondering what you are talking about? It's a lesson for all of us - we CANNOT assume with WINDOWS that we are all looking at the same thing in the same place. Best wishes - the boys done good on the weekend? DaveG
  13. Both run OK on my Vista Home Premium laptop. DaveG
  14. Hi Brian, Are you running Windows XP Pro? Is it possible that some of your examples above are not applicable to XP Home Premium or XP Media Centre Edition? DaveG
  15. Gerald / Brian, I am sure it is a wonderful programme, but once again it does not deal with the issue in this thread. Why does it happen with the Windows clipboard and pasting into Photoshop CS / Elements? Why is it intermittent? If it were something that was turned off/on either by default or otherwise, why would it work once and then fail? DaveG
  16. Peter, Frank's method works for me in Elements 7. However, there is not an equivalent method in CS3 and the PURGE option is the best I can can up with for CS3. DaveG
  17. The method of Purging or Clearing does not work in Elements in the same way!!!! If I do a Pr Scr and try to paste into Elements I can "see" that there is nothing to paste. However without doing anything else I can close Elements, open CS3 and the previous Pr Scr is there waiting to be Pasted. Very much more "curiouser". DaveG
  18. Peter, I'm not sure about your statement? My experience with this "problem" has been that Photoshop, whether it is open or not, will accept the first Print Screen. The second and subsequent Pr.Scr. CAN be problematic. In the past I have always closed CS3 and rebooted. This morning I decided to try PURGE and found that it works. I have just opened Elements 7 and the CLEAR command is identical to PURGE in CS3. I have just consulted Martin Evening and he says that it is purely a method for clearing Scratch Disc memory for the open image. If all we are doing is Pr Scr and opening in CS3 or Elements to create a JPEG then Purging or Clearing is doing nothing to other open images but is allowing us to carry on "working around" whatever is causing this anomaly. P.S. Does anyone know the difference between Pr Scr and SHIFT + Pr Scr? They both do the same thing for me. DaveG
  19. Anthony, Why is the PURGE action drastic? I know it's a pain, but drastic? I have always assumed that it is purely clearing the current "clipboard" in PS for the currently open image. Nothing drastic about that. It is less painful than having to close and re-open CS3. Some would call it a "workaround" but when time is so limited workarounds are sometimes the easiest option. PURGE HISTORY might be an alternative if PURGE ALL is too much? DaveG
  20. Ed, It appears to be a Photoshop thing which I have had before but had (temporarily) forgotten about. If you do the "Print Screen" from O&A and then open CS3 it will paste into a new document. Do it a second time and it will not work. Close CS3 and start again and it will work. It has nothing to do with O&A on the face of it. I THINK THIS IS THE ANSWER (POSSIBLY): BEFORE GOING BACK TO O&A FOR THE NEXT PRINT SCREEN IMAGE HIT: EDIT / PURGE / ALL. DaveG
  21. Hi Ed, I copy that. Cannot use Print Screen when in O&A in 5.6. DaveG
  22. Surely, renaming files for use in PTE (or anything other than single image comps) is counter-productive? If, in a couple of years time, you ever wanted to find the original RAW file again, doing a search on the renamed title would only bring up the PTE version. But, back to Barry's suggestion, a switchable option if possible would do the trick. DaveG
  23. Hang on Anthony, If you read my first response to Barry again, I wasn't suggesting the Bold/Normal type was the answer to Barry's post, but rather that it helped in determing which were used and which weren't. If what Barry wants is included as a switchable option I'm all for it, but I maintain my position about making the PTE experience too ****** complicated if care is not taken. DaveG
  24. Ralph, I copy your results with regard to my 64Mb card - You can reduce the size of the mini-player view to a position where it will play with NO hesitation. I am not sure, though, what you are saying about larger screen sizes and cards with more RAM. The attached screen shot shows my 512Mb card and 1920x1200 screen config with the mini-player screen in OPTIMUM (MAXIMUM) size and there is NO hesitation with Auto-scroll 2. DaveG
  25. Not only in the text listing - in the thumbnail view the titles are either bold or not. That's been the case as long as I can remember. DaveG
