  1. Apart from the Progress bar thing - that's the sort of thing I was getting. Working hard - doing nothing. DaveG
  2. Thanks all, Media Player Classic is included with the ACE CODEC SET - I'll try it. I have upgraded to Beta 2 and the second 20 minute show I converted was done with Beta 2 - I didn't notice any particular improvement but..... DaveG
  3. Peter, Your system is probably OK - BUT - I was able to do what you described when I originally had the problem. The real test is to do a MUCH longer show - 10 minutes - 20 minutes.. I am now able to do as long a show as I wish (apparently) but it was not always so. I think that the giveaway sign is if the PROGRESS Bar appears almost immediately you are OK. DaveG
  4. Gary, I have made two 20+ minute avi's this afternoon in the highest quality - SUPERB! Time taken was around 30-40 minutes each (maybe longer) and file size is around 400Mb each. The only "problem" that I have at the moment is that they will only play in Quick Time. Real Player and Windows Media refuse to play them (??). DaveG
  5. Great work Igor, Re: MUXING - never heard that expression before. DaveG
  6. 10 minutes of High Quality 1280x720 video made and looks really good. That's enough to prove that my problem was the incorrect, corrupt or missing MPEG4 Codec. I will leave it at that for now. EDIT: Sorry Igor, I posted without seeing your request - the codec I have used was from the ACE CODEC SET and I had already done this. DaveG
  7. I am now up to 2 mins 15 secs of HIGH QUALITY 1280x720 and it's looking GOOD! Now to extend time at the same quality and size..................... DaveG
  8. Igor, I have posted this elsewhere: I have loaded the MPEG4 codec using ACE CODEC SET and all is now well. Progress bar comes up immediately and I have converted a 2 minute show to HD Video - 1024x768 - High Quality. The problem seemed to be the absence (or incorrect version) of the MPEG4 codec on my computer!!! User error!! Sorry if I caused you a problem! P.S. in progress bar there is a small spelling error MUXING should be MIXING? DaveG
  9. Some time ago Lin advised loading of MPEG4 codec using ACE CODEC SET. I just did this and the PROGRESS BAR now comes up immediately and I have created a LOW QUALITY - SHORT HD Video. More tests continue. DaveG
  10. Tom, What is the longest HD file you have made? DaveG
  11. Re: Progress bar. My card is nVidia 7600 GS with 512 Mb RAM. Problem is as described above. DaveG
  12. Thanks LIN - great tutorial from which, I'm sure, most people will benefit and get new ideas. DaveG
  13. Gary, Start with a 1 minute LOW QUALITY video and work your way up - that's what I am going to do. The spec of your computer is going to play a BIG part in this. DaveG
  14. Gary, What length of show are you trying to convert? The progress bar appears right at the very end. However I have failed to make an MPEG longer than 1 minute so far. DaveG
  15. Re: Progress bar. It appeared after about 1 Hour into converting a 22 minute show in High Quality. Maybe I was being a little too ambitious!! Result was sound but no picture. I tried a much shorter - 3 slide - show and was successful. Perhaps there is a limit to what can be achieved? DaveG
  16. Hi Igor, When creating "HD Video for PC and MAC" I can see a "tab" on the task bar but cannot get anything on screen. Should there be a progress indicator? DaveG
  17. Well done Igor and team. Lots of new stuff to play with - I'm off to check the replacement for "Original Size"!! DaveG
  18. Hi Eric, I have mentioned here many times that I record to both Audacity and Audition via an EDIROL optical to USB interface. So Audacity will record from a USB source. DaveG
  19. Mike, You still haven't indicated if your screen resolution is set to 1680x1050? (Right click on desktop / properties / settings for XP). If it is not - it should be. DaveG
  20. Igor, Your graphics card is more advanced than my (old) laptop's card. I can only set one output resolution. DaveG
  21. Hi Ken, Clicking on VIDEO now gives the choice of "Burn DVD - Video Disc" or "Create AVI File" - different to Lin's Tute. When you get there the options are also different - more and possibly better. I just wondered if one of Peter's FAQs was more up to date? DaveG
  22. Hi Ken, Hasn't PTE moved on somewhat since the date of your linked post? DaveG
  23. Can't you just go to "VIDEO" and choose "CREATE AVI"? DaveG
  24. Igor, When you use this setup is your computer/laptop monitor also capable of 1920x1080 resolution? i.e. are BOTH the projector and the monitor able to be used at the same time? DaveG
  25. The OP doesn't say if the laptop being used to link to the projector is the same one that they run smoothly on? I "believe" that PSG produces a file which is a video and is therefore of low resolution wheras the PTE EXE file uses the original images and applies the transitions etc. which is why PTE gives superior quality at the expense of requiring a far more powerful computer with lots of RAM and a GOOD graphics card. Do their PTE shows run smoothly on the laptop when the projector is not connected? DaveG
