  1. Hello Everyone, I got the information below from my FTP program help menu. I don't think it is the problem but it was worth mentioning. My program has a selection for ASCII or BINARY or Auto, I always use BINARY Binary (transfer mode) Used for non-TEXT file transferring. Executable programs, word processing documents, spreadsheets, databases, graphic and sound are some examples of files that MUST be transferred in BINARY mode. If you KNOW that the host that you are transferring to or from is the same (that it translates the end of line character the same - ASCII see below) as your local host (home computer), you CAN always use BINARY mode and never use ASCII. Send a small text and .exe file and see if there is a problem. I always use BINARY mode. ASCII (transfer mode) Is used for TEXT file transferring. The end of line character is different on different type of computers. This will insure that the end of line character is translated properly. Good Luck,
  2. Hello Everyone, Just a thought on FTP transfers as I read the threads. Executable programs, word processing documents, spreadsheets, databases, graphic and sound are some examples of files that MUST be uploaded in BINARY mode to your online file storage server not in ASCII. If you KNOW that the host that you are transferring to or from is the same as your local host, you CAN always use BINARY mode and never use ASCII. Good Luck
  3. Hello Barry, I am only a point and shoot photographer. What I found in your webpages was a LOT of work and a real treasure! I added your link to my tools page for future reference. Thanks for Sharing
  4. Hello Everyone, Yup, wnsoft is gone, this is wierd, When I tried to reach the link http://www.wnsoft.com, I get -> http://www.audiocdripper.com/ It might be a full moon thing or alien abduction or surprise vacation?
  5. Hello mannybr2003 & everyone, Ralvis & I are using a fine program called BreezeBrowser by Chris Breeze Visit my Native American webpage. It was constructed in less than a hour, only figuring out what to do is what slows you down. From camera to webpage it can be done in 10 minutes once your organized. Native Americans You get a fully fuctional program that just limits you to 12 images till you buy it. I tried to limit myself to 12 images but it did not take long till I wanted to add many more. Breeze Browser Hope you enjoy
  6. Hello LumenLux, Wow and I thought I was losing my mind. My mouse has acting up all week, as if it is haunted! It hangs, gets jerky and jumps all over the screen. I reinstalled its driver with some improvement. I am backing up whats important and will be using GoBack(restore). I must even re-boot quite often. My up to date Norton Anti-Virus did not detect anything searching all files! For me I believe it all began when I installed AutoIt.exe, which appears to be a great program. Good Luck, ouch!
  7. Hello chaiken, Easy Thumbnails is a popular freeware utility for creating accurate thumbnail images and scaled-down/up copies from a wide range of popular picture formats. An elegant interface makes it a snap to find your images and select them for processing individually, in groups, or in whole folders, using a simple file selector and built-in image viewer. You can adjust the whole folder of pictures at one time. Use slider controls to rotate images and adjust their contrast, brightness, sharpness and quality, and check out the results with a convenient built-in viewer. EasyThumbnails Website enjoy
  8. Hello Everyone, I created a webpage to organize slideshows under 1.44 megs in size. It's a great place to study technique. My favorite is called Columbia STS-107. It's an animation firing over 140 frames packed under 1.4 megs. Club 1.44 Hope you enjoy
  9. PicturestoExe is such a fine program I wondered how high up on the Yahoo list I could get using the key words "synchronize slideshow to music". My webpage made it to the top, Igor is #1. I even threw the misspell of syncronize into the page.
  10. Hello Tomuk, Click on my tool link below and you will find several freeware program that get you from cd to MP3. I like using MP3 workshop "freeware", not related to the comercial version. I will watch what others mention and add to my list the link to freeware recommendations. Enjoy the PTE adventure
  11. Hello rcataldo, I like your program choice. When you say visually arrange, do you mean the program has the feature of dragging and dropping all the viewed thumb nails into a selected order, then you can batch rename them in this order? AfterShot has been renamed to Jasc Paint Shop Photo Album 4 Thanks for your input!
  12. Hello LumenLux, PicturesToExe is the Holy Grail Excellent you bring up this subject right now. I am ready to order BreezeBrowser but think I will let this thread run its course in case something better reveals itself. I am tired of being restricted to the 12 picture limit in the trial version. BreezeBrowser has these features you asked for, its $44.95 USD ouch! I think ThumbsPlus is $79.95 USD Yes - thumbnails on screen, drag a slide to where you want it to show relative to the other slides. Yes - Thumbnail size should be a choice to allow smaller or larger number of slides on screen at once. Yes - When slides have been dragged and dropped into position, the slide order should be able to be saved on-screen for later re-working. Yes - Most importantly, it should have system (batch renaming?) to save the final order so that the slides will be in the same order when imported by PTE. Also what I enjoy is its ability to create a webpage slideshow with drop shadows and other effects. You can create your own personal webpage templates and it codes the rest instantly. I don't see any batch image editing controls (color/contrast) in BB as does EasyThumbNails, but then EasyThumbNails doesn't have a drag and drop thumbnail light table layout. Good Luck,
  13. Welcome hotmetal, We are both missing a piece to this puzzle? My best guess is as follows: Make certain the downloaded files should be .exe and not .zip Possibly the explore screen needed a refresh because you renamed the files elsewhere. Rename the files using "explore" by right clicking on start button and clicking "explore" to open, find the file location, highlight the file name, right click and select rename. Now the mystery begins. Will the name change? You probably did all of the above and have reaffirmed why I have avoided a new computer with XP. I have not used XP, it may have another set of rules from win98. Good Luck,
  14. Hello Everyone, My vote is photo #2, leave in the branch, mother nature staged the scene perfectly. Water Fall with & without branch
  15. Hello zulabarr, BreezeBrowser will do the trick. The shareware version limits you to 12 photos per folder. You indicate what count to start at. There are several naming methods. Just drag & drop thumbnails in the order you want. Then rename the whole batch. I think you could put a second group in another folder starting the count at 13. Check in options that PTE is checked to use "File list order by Name". These programs complement each other nicely. Have fun,
  16. Hello Linda, If the disk once worked and now it doesn’t leads me to believe corruption may have occurred in storage. My first thought would be solar flares. . . no that’s stupid, you probably don’t live near ozone hole by the south pole. I have read in several groups about black felt tip pens & markers bleeding through the surface plastic “over time” to the lasers reading surface. This is why they have markers specifically designed for CD’s. It’s only my guess. Maybe someone else has another idea or a recovery method.
  17. Igor, Such a beautiful presentation, it reminded me that my own creativity is just a whisper of the divine one.
  18. Hello photoshop_god <-- Boxig has developed a whole treasure chest of utilities to use when working with PicturesToExe. Item #11 in the Programs and Utilities section of his web page is titled like you need. Check and see if it is, maybe its just a non-flash special effect? 11. Flash Intro Utility Add a Flash before your photo album slideshow Free 1685k http://www.thailandphotoalbum.com/ Thank you Boxig for all your hard work! Enjoy
  19. Hello rwav, I agree, setting up your text in the PTE object editor might do what you need. On the main PTE opening page click Object Editor located near the Remove Slide button. In the upper left area of the object screen click the symbol that looks like a Notepad to the right of an A symbol. Right click the mouse to set the properties and text. You can drag this around the screen. You can copy & paste its position and characteristics to your other sides. You can set more than one text box on the same slide if you need differant font sizes or colors. Have fun,
  20. No kidding, 161 slides. I wondered how I could create a tight package. I am not a pro photographer so lets see if we can break PTE. Don’t try this at home. The show is Columbia STS-107
  21. Hello Everyone, A little competition, cool. I think the study of the masters and their techniques would be quite enjoyable. Maybe there could be some size limit set for those of us with 56k modems. Show size limited to what fits on a floppy disk 1.44 meg. The technical use of PTE special effects and features is what interests me. I will start working on my show immediately. Have fun
  22. Hello Everyone, Every now and then when I click previous slide over and over with background music playing and the previous slide has a sound effect .wav or .mp3 I get this message: Exception ElistError in module myslideshow.exe at 00011336. List index out of bounds(1) This happens on my AMD Athlon 800 Mhz 528 meg ram Gateway Win98 SE and my slower 233 Mhz Pentium Gateway. My slideshow is small, about 1.2 megs with 12 slides. Currently using PicturesToExe v4.00 beta #5, ok I will grab #7. Also I am using the external player -> Windows Media Player 7.10.00.3059 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Above is mannybr2003 also mentioning a similar issue in his post.---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Thank you for any input
  23. Hello Tripstrilles, If you find no other way to solve this dilemma, email me your project1.pte template file only (no pictures or sound). I can modify it in seconds, as I understand you, and return it within the day. You could create this as a generic template. Use the same numerical generic .jpg file names and have it available for new projects, set and ready to go. What you need to do for me is create this template.pte with all the photo paths of all the pictures you want. In other words create a plain slideshow with pictures but no sound & no special effect. (Don’t send me any photos)In the very first slide construct it with all the objects in the positions you want displayed on every other slide, like the text box. You can change the slide order & the text later on so use a short sentence first. If you have buttons be sure to set their properties, pause, exit, etc. I like to setup my layouts using the 640 x 480 window size in the objects editor, it gives me more accurate positioning. I have a limit of cloning the first slide to a maximum of 499 other slides. (file limits) Alrobin, At the moment this VBA programming trick is not user friendly. Its like grandma’s little dog, it likes to bite strangers. After I polish it bit, I will make the .xls workbook available on my webpage, then you can dissect the puppy Christopher chris@oldtemecula.com
  24. Hello Everyone, Mannybr2003, the word powwow means any gathering of Native Americans or any peoples really. Thank you for the kind words. So many of you live in such beautiful places I figured sharing one of the cultural happenings here would be fun. I had placed a thunderclap sound on various slides that I wanted to express strength. Also I had marked the - radio button - Main => Show Settings => When show ends keep last slide in show on screen. guru, oops . . .I may have reinvented the wheel, the simple trick I use, copies all the objects and the positions in the first slide to the many other slides in about 1 second. I will have to study PTE more to understand how else I could do this. Sometimes I will spend several hours trying things when 5 minutes of instruction reading would solve the problem.Alrobin, how I did I do the PTE object copy with a VBA trick, you know cursing a lot! I had inflicted a bug in my first posting that cause the powwow slideshow to hang if you clicked "previous slide" to often. The problem was solved About: My Webpage If you have a "personal" web page dedicated to PTE, I would like to list your URL on my web page. Email it to Me. Have Fun & Enjoy Christopher "dilemmania" Email: chris@oldtemecula.com
  25. I am new and getting organized in this slideshow fun. I created a Webpage to show my friends what software programs I use, also included is my first 1.2 meg slideshow “PowWow”. My 56k modem loaded it in 4 min. I used a simple programming technique in Excel 97 VBA to copy the object positions on each slide. That is why the exit/pause buttons remain stationary. Much of what I have learned over the past two weeks is from reading the pte user posts. Thank You
