Dave2 Is it that much of problem for you to test ? No one is asking you to stop using your Virus/Firewall programs completely ... only for a short test. You seem to naturally assume PTE needs fixing where it may be the developers of your Virus/Firewall programs or even Windows 7 need to do some fixing. The only way to find these things out is for the user to test since Igor does not have everyones Pc, hardware, and software setup sitting in his home/office to test for himself.

Laszlo, Your issue is that the filenames used in the list you provided are restricted as per the Search Restrictions in the PlayView Guide.chm Noteably your use of windows within the filename. Any filename or any of its full file path that contain any part of the restricted names will not be listed within the PlayView List Menu. You can use filenames or folders with the name window but not with windows. Your Windows2.exe, Windows in France.exe, Jan - Windows.exe, Windows - Looking Out Final7.exe, etc all contain windows as part of its filename ... thats why they are restricted. PlayView does not know if the exe file is a PTE Slideshow or what version it may be ... it just restricts certain filenames and paths which may contain or known to contain sensitive content.

Geoff, Since you say that your issue has happened just recently ... my best guess is that some Windows7/IE8 or PC Tools recent update is promoting the issue. All slideshows on Beechbrook are zipped and not downloaded as exe files ... so I cant see downloading Beechbrook files promoting your issue. Media Fire files and external link Beechbrook files may be exe or zipped types. To discount your issue is not coming from your PC Tools Firewall ... disable it and just enable/use Windows own internal firewall and test downloading. This might help to reveal the issue is from a Windows7/IE8 recent update. As for these messages, false positives, etc ... its sometimes hard to tell how they may have been originally initiated because all these programs work so interactively together. In most cases these issues soon disappear within a few newer updates afterwards. If its a Windows update thats promoting the issue ... it could take some time longer to get fixed or otherwise it may be some new user setting that your not aware about.
-
Dave2, Its possible your issue is not a Windows 7 with PTE problem. Another user just last month had problems and could not compile a exe because their particular brand Virus/Firewall programs were restricting the PTE compile process. To verify if your issue may be caused by your Virus/Firewall program(s) ... please turn-off those programs and test/try compiling a PTE exe again. See if the freezing issue is also resolved.

DaveOR, Your particular issue shows all indication that your VideoBuilder Key has some sort of problem in its text composition, incorrect whitespace, or incomplete text content. Basically what is called damaged or corrupt content. When the above issues are prevalent in any key file ... the Windows Registry wont actually enter the Key=Value into the registry. Therefore VideoBuilder may initially accept your key information but the Windows Registry isnt writng it permanently into the registry. Thats why VideoBuilder asks you to enter your Key each time of use because it does not see it in the registry. To easily verify this action ... just open your Windows Registry and check the key setting entry in : [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\WnSoft\VideoBuilder] If the Key REG_SZ value is empty, missing, or incomplete ... theres some sort of corruption in your key file information content. or You can just use/run KeyCopy utility tool and it will tell you if the VideoBuilder key information exists in the registry. --- Do you have 1 Reg Key for both programs or 2 separate Reg Keys ? Does your VideoBuilder Key document when opened with notepad show text content somewhat like this : REGEDIT4 [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\WnSoft\VideoBuilder] "Key"= *there is additional text info after the = sign which should be your actual Key Value.

Darryll, The undecypherable characters you see is the Key value ... this is normal and correct for PTE Keys. The entire Key content contains and requires more than just the undecypherable characters you mention. In the meantime till Alena from WnSoft addresses your problem make sure you have saved your whole key file attachment correctly ... because PTE will reject as Invalid if you only copied or pasted partial segements of the whole key information that is required. Can you Save your mail attachments in your mail program by just using from the menu bar File | Save Attachments, or just drag the file attachment out of the attachment panel window (not the email body content display). Its best not to copy and paste a Key file from your email body content (internals) if you dont have too ... unless your email program setting is not displaying you an attachment panel window or other means to save just the file attachements in your email. Please read this Forum Post for using and saving the registration Keys: FAQ] How do I get my registration key and what do I do with it - WnSoft Forums http://www.picturestoexe.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=10522

Andrew, The Color Outside Slide Area setting is only available in the Project Options. There is no settings available in the Customize Slide options to change the universal setting on a per a slide basis.

Laszlo, This block issue seems only to be related to MS Zip own resident program function- right click to extract. It does not only single out exe files contained. Using WinZip and other related tools work normal without any block issues. This issue seems to directly relate to zips tranfered or downloaded from the internet and unzipping with MS-right click. Emailed zips unzip and work just fine (excluding if they originally were downloaded fron the internet). Some update to Windows and/or IE started promoting this issue some time back. Ralph (HAWK) has reported recently that his IE 8 had the same block issue a month ago ... but just informed me that all is back to working normal. Maybe a recent Windows Update just fixed the issue or theres a new option setting in IE thats on by default. So, the easy way around the block issue is to just drag the files out of the zip if your using MS Zip own resident program ... or use Winzip or other tools that work as normal without blocks.

Lennart, You may already have the ways and means to do this with the exsiting DVD software that came with your burner. My DVD burner came with Nero Vision which is capable to add a intro which then leads to the menu. Its all pretty basic stuff and does the job for the average user that dabbles into DVD production. However, if you take DVD seriously ... you need some serious tools with much more expanded capabilities. See this link for some authoring tools : http://www.videohelp.com/tools/sections/authoring-dvd For the power, features and price ... DVD Lab Pro is well equipped to suit some serious needs. http://www.mediachance.com/dvdlab/helppro2/index.html?motioncell.htm

e.b.west, Sometimes these things take time to resolve ... especially so if Igor cannot reproduce the issue on their PC(s). My first suggestion to any users who experience any program freezing issues (not just PTE) ... is to turn off all Virus protection programs and Firewalls. Just make sure your not connected to the internet when performing these tests. With all the different and various protection programs out there that people use nowadays ... sometimes these things can easily be promoting other program issues because they are using so potent and restrictive measures to protect your PC. So, test and try to build a small size DVD slide show with all protection processes turned off to at least eliminate those processes as a likely culprit in your trouble-shoot steps. If your using several protection processes ... turn them back on one by one and test to verify the issue is not being promoted by a specific program. Its always the first test I make and recommend.

PlayView - Slide Show List Menu for PicturesToExe Users If you have lots of PTE Slide Shows stored on your PC like me and need a simple way of viewing them from a list menu instead of spending time opening folder after folder looking in your catalog directory ... then this little utility might suit your needs. _____________________________________________________ PlayView is a ready-made menu utility tool in which to launch your PicturesToExe Slide Shows from a list of menu items. Its always best to take the professional approach and custom build our own Slide Show menu system to meet our specific needs. However, on occasions we are caught in a pinch with time restraints to build a custom menu or sometimes we just need a menu system that works on the fly for our own personal needs. PlayView is fast and simple with no user settings to program. It does offer one option which allows you to use your own custom logo image to be displayed instead of using the program's default image display. Version 1 Features : Automatically searches for all exe files found in its own relative folder including any nested folder's content. Runs in Full Screen mode to hide the desktop icons and stop taskbar flashbacks. Option to use your own custom logo image for a personal look. Hide or show the Controls to suit your visual display needs. List Menu holds up to 100 selectable exe menu items. Built-in search restrictions to help omit or exclude listings of non Slide Show exe files and safeguard system file access. Control functions to aid in arranging the List Menu items Program : Program Version 1 - PlayView.exe. PlayView_v1.zip package contains PlayView.exe, PlayView Guide.chm, License.txt, ReadMe.txt, and Image footprints.zip. Program does not install any system files, registry entries, user Shortcuts, Start Menu items, or Uninstall options, nor does it alter, edit, rename, move, or delete any Slide Show files. PlayView is a 3rd party program tool for PicturesToExe Users and is not affiliated with PicturesToExe or WnSoft. Program supports English language only. PlayView has been tested for use on Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7. Pentium 4 or higher (recommended) 1 MB free Hard Drive space for program files _____ Many thanks and great appreciation to my dear friends at the PTE Forum for all their testing and help to make this program possible. Ralph "Hawk" McDermott Ken "Ken Cox" Cox Peter "fh1805" Appleton Tom "tom95521" Mendenhall Bill "cottage" Hines of Beechbrook.com for hosting PTE Presentations _____________________________________________________ Free for All and available for download from : Beechbrook.com - Utilities : PlayView - Slide Show List Menu Hope you all Enjoy, Stu

e.b.west, In the meantime while waiting from Igor or support with some answers about your issue ... you might try contacting jdearman. His Post #5 appears similar to your VB freezing issue. His Post #6 implies he has solved the VB frezzing issue to some degree.

Danny, To use Run Slideshow for the compiled exes ... see Project Options | More tab to make your setting. See attachment DVD build Slide Shows are different and wont run other Slide Shows like the EXE build types. To have DVD shows play one after the other just insert all 4 shows in the correct order in the list panel. If you use a DVD Menu ... each individual show will have its own menu link. (Its also possible to move-off-page any menu links you dont want to see or set menu itens to 1 as long as you dont use the Return to Menu after each title setting.) See VideoBuilders own Project Options for how you want to treat the DVD playback. Note: Please first build/test the EXE version to your satisfaction ... then build the DVD version.

The Holiday season upon us has slowed production down to a crawl ... but the PlayView exe list menu program has been tested on XP,Vista and Win7 and the final release is all ready except for Help and documentation. We all know how much people like to read Help files ... and how much I like to make them. Hopefully it will be ready for upload early next week.
-
Danny, Another option you may want to try since your basically building 4 slide shows into one ... is to build 4 separate slide shows and link them at the end with the Run Slide Show command that available in versions 5.6-6.0. Depending on how you do your slide effects its possible to do this method to appear seamless. Note: Please remember all the slide shows must be built with the same exact version.

Tony Your current Videobuilder Key should work on your Laptop as long as it has not expired its 2 year upgrade limit. These keys are not hardware locked unless something has just recently changed in the key processing. I would make sure you have properly loaded your original VideoBuilder key by installing it again. If you still have issues ... you can download KeyCopy utility program which will make copies of your PTE and VideoBuilder registry keys. If the Key(s information exists in the main PC registry ... you should have no problem using this tool to make backup copies which you can then transfer/migrate to your Laptop. See KeyCopy link in my bottom signature bar.

Jim, Just as a note ... it should be possible to use D3D Hardware Acceleration in your v6 Menu when using same v6 Slideshows that are launched from the command Run Slideshow with Return. The purpose of these 2 new commands was to address issues of excessive use/demand of GPU when using multitple slideshows with D3D enabled. It also stops the desktop flashback that was common with older version slideshows because the D3D was switching on/off for eash slideshow instance. The new commands only use one instance of D3D and therefore does not switch on/off between slideshows. I dont know how Windows 7 deals with D3D on/off switches ... but I would first test building my v6 Menu with D3D enabled if you have not already done so to see any difference.

Heres a sample view of what I came up this morning for the distributable user version. Configured to show or hide all or partial button controls. Add your own logo jpg image (700x500) for own custom touch. No other custom user options avail so as to keep program simple and quick. It will be sent out for beta testing soon.
-
I agree a ready built menu should in no way replace a custom built menu if one has the time. The sample you see of my ready built menu is somewhat unappealing and was only built to supply practical and personal needs ... so dont be mislead by its looks. The distributable user version will look much different but still be fast and easy to use. I guess you will just have to wait and see whats in the end product ... it only takes a little applied imagination.
-
How about a ready built menu thats simple and quick ... works on the fly without any menu building. I have a simple list menu which I use to launch my exe slideshows. I could adapt it with a few button features to give it more list controls. Has full screen background to hide the desktop and hides taskbar flashes thats common with older PTE exe files. My current build would need to be modified with a few simple additions to better suit other users. If there is any user interest for such a utility tool to be distributed ... I will send out a copy to my beta testers today/tonight for some ideas and suggestons.

John, Seems your music problem is that you are also using a Customise Slide option with the music tab enabled. Your message "When you use 'Synchronize music and slides' option, you cannot use personal playlists of slides." is because you cannot use 'Synchronize music and slides'checbox while using Project Option|Music in combination with Customize Slide|Music . You either need to disable the 'Synchronize music and slides' checbox when using Customize Slide|Music or remove the Customize Slide|Music setting to be able to use 'Synchronize music and slides' checbox. Is your music file entered in the Project Options or Customize Slide ? The reason you can create a mp4 vs exe of the same file is because mp4 files are streamed and exe files are not.
-
Betsy, In addition to Peter's and Tom's recommendations ... its also possible to stop the music currently playing at a certain slide without actually editing the music file. Its somewhat an abrupt way for stopping music in a slideshow ... but it works. - Select the slide where you want the music to stop playing and open the Customize Slide | Music tab. Enable the Play New Background Music checkbox without adding any music files to the music playlist. See attached image below. - To restart the music at a certain slide ... follow above instructions, but this time with adding a music file to the music playlist. Please note that the music will start from its beginning and not from the point it was last stopped. Note: This method also works for DVD builds/playback.

How to display multiple shows on a PC
nobeefstu replied to Eric Athroll's topic in General Discussion
Eric, I would think your own question could be one simple method to build a effective menu. Use VideoBuilder's dvd menu features. Select a menu template, add your selected .pte file(s), select a frame for the image, set a name, and take a screenshot of each of the page(s). **Theres no need to proceed to the burning dvd stage. Use the screenshot images as your slides in your Menu slideshow. Add invisible links to the individual image frames ... or whatever linking method you prefer. I would think once you have a dvd menu template that suits your needs (you may have to create special one initially) ... this method could prove to be quick to build while still being visual and effective. -
Problem: Can't extract frame from AVI longer than 9:20
nobeefstu replied to Irek Graff's topic in General Discussion
Irek Graff, I have seen no user reports of your particular limitation issue. Have you tried to make just individual MPEG2 files of each of the PTE slideshows and each of the DV AVI video movies ... then build the DVD menu with just the individual MPEG2 files and then burn to DVD Disc ?
