Hi Mark, Thanks for watching and commenting. Davy

All, Staying with the land of E Pluribus Unum, I have uploaded an AV to Mediafire, ‘To Have and Have Not’. http://www.mediafire.com/?zde4ungizhy A look at the contrasting lifestyle between the well heeled and the unshod of early 1900s America. From fun seekers in Coney Island to those who struggled just to get by. The AV is built around the lyrics, so that saves on time, text and a voiceover. Included in the description is the, ’Bash this AV’, so your thoughts on what you would change, What you liked/didn’t like, is appreciated. Davy

Thanks Rick, Nothing wrong with your memory. I not so sure about mine though. Although I had different teachers at school,I seem to recall that all of them were called Cando Better,or somwthing like that Davy

Maureen, Fear not as the music version I used was an inferior Mancini production. I had you down as strictly a scenery type of photographer. The stuff we learn here. Barry, I could say that I am not a train buff. That anything I could add would be taken from Wikipedia. An expert would be on my case in an instant. Truth is, that I avoid commentaries as I don't have the dulcet tones of a radio 2 presenter. I tend to avoid much by way of text as well,at least during an AV,but I suppose it is necessary some times. Ken, I had you marked down as a Casey Jones type. The cap in your Pic is a giveaway. I'm sure other music could have been used to give quite a different feel. thanks for all the comments and views.Much appreciated. Davy

Hi Maureen, The apple does not fall far from the tree. Great stuff and well done on this joint effort. Davy -
All, Have uploaded an AV, ‘Iron Horses’ to Mediafire. http://www.mediafire.com/?nzrjkzqconn A step back in time, focusing mainly on trains from 1860 – 1940 in the US. My daughter thought it boring, doomed, as it was black and white (even though I had put it through a sepia wash) and a bit depressing. To add to the confidence shattering thumbs down, I had to end up changing the soundtrack, as the original music was a bit distorted. With confidence in tatters, I am fully prepared for the worst, so don’t hold back and ‘Bash this AV’. What would you change? What you did or didn’t like. That sort of thing. I have added a 'Bash this AV' to the topic decripion. It might be a way for others posting AVs to indicate that they welcome comments,positive/negative and constructive. Davy

Maureen, Music was great and worked perfectly with the visuals. Shall I compare it to a pint of old Peculier after a long walk on a summers day? No, but it's pretty good all the same. Cheers, Davy

Maureen, Blah,Blah,Blah Pretty much all that has been said, except I could not wait for this AV to end. It just went on and on and on.A field here,a wall there,a field here,a pub. C'mon Maureen 'I said to myself' just get to the end. It's just I wanted to find out what the music was on the end title I did watch it properly again,so blah, blah, blah, brilliant. Another one for the Sunday market. Well done, Davy

Hi Mark, Have watched/listened to your AV a few times now. What threw me initially was the sound/images being out of sync and the transition chosen. Staying with your soundtrack,I think things will work better if you change durations of slides to play in sync. Music here is not metronomal and will have slight drifts/changes and pauses. As The Dom suggests, you can target certain images to be highlighted by their persistance/duration during musical changes. Different methods for putting things in sync, but it will take a bit of fine tuning to match perfectly. Lots of different opinions and no right or wrong way to go.Just do what suits you best. I did have a look on Youtube at some videos on 9/11. I watched a powerful and disturbing documentary (about 71 minutes long)called '9/11 The falling man'. Good luck with the AV. Davy
-
Mark, Try zero transition time for slides.High frequency of different pics is not a problem. Would recommend you Sync pics to music though for maximum delivery. I would try a different sound track,as the music track you have selected, grows in intensity as it progresses, but the visual side does not change. PM sent. Have fun trying out everybodys suggestions. Davy

Andrew, Some were a bit crudely done, but Something like Frankenstein is an iconic image. I thought one quote on the Gorgon poster was great. 'She had the face only a Mummy could love'. I wouldn't have thought of these,if not for your excellent war poster AV. So thanks for that and your comments. Davy

G'day John, Glad you liked it. I wanted to put something together with that Ella Fitzgerald song for some time. Cheers, Daavy

David, You been at that glue again? LOL Good to see and hear you cutting your own groove again. Have watched it a few times and producing the soundtrack gives you a lot of freedom to be very creative. It allows you to try lots of different things out. Very impressive. Well done with this and keep it up. Davy

Thanks Ken, Good to know it did the job. Davy

Mark, First signs of changing to a Werewolf is hairs on the palms of the hands. The second sign is.........Looking for them. Davy

Thanks Mark, Hadn't noticed that Sony camera. Will take a closer look. Davy

All, Couldn’t resist slipping this one in, as it’s only 17mb. A short AV uploaded to Mediafire. http://www.mediafire.com/?nyatnmvdmml ‘All of me’ Is a compilation of old Horror Movie Posters from the 30s 40s 50s and 60s. Warning this is Adult X-rated and not for those of a nervous/prudish disposition. Bolt the doors and windows. Turn off the lights and watch if you dare. ‘Even a man who is pure in heart and says his prayers by night, may become a wolf when the wolf bane blooms and the autumn moon is bright.’ Davy

Hi Andrew, I would be tempted to get something like a Panasonic TZ7 compact for trips away. Just fit in a pocket, instead of having to lug lenses and camera gear about. I missed out on the film camera era.First camera was a Casio digital.Massive 4mega pixels and about £450! I can appreciate more, the work that you and others put into your AV productions. So I will have to Google less and get out and do some snapping of my own. Thanks for commenting/downloading, Davy

Hi Maureen, Thanks for your comments, you are too kind.I have a long way to go in photography terms. Maybe this will spur me on to get out and about with a camera.I know what I like ok.It's just that other people tend to be taking what I like best I thought I had loads of pics of the 'birds of prey display'.I had forgotten to change the focus to continuous mode.Ended up with loads of blurry images. That's what you get when you don't read manuals. Davy
-
Thank Ken, On the 'love' thing...Well a dog's love is unconditional. Bird love is different. An uneasy alliance. Why with a harsh word they can just take flight. Or just slap you in the face davy

All, Have uploaded an AV, ‘Lanzarote Wild and Tamed’ to Mediafire http://www.mediafire.com/?riwgdgduhmz Some pics I took on a day trip to a ‘Western theme park’ some time ago. Nothing spectacular and having taken pics without thinking about AV, the first 12 images are in portrait mode. I had to keep them as taken, for scale and an animation effect. What’s in it? Well naturally there is a wagon train and some Tipi and totems. No Cowboys or Indians, but I think they may have been out to lunch. Unusually there are some creatures I would not normally associate as Western. It is possible Western could mean anything that wasn’t from the far East. More than likely, I was just conned. Then there was a ruined temple (Eastern looking) and a huge stone beast, of uncertain origin. Warning contains crude carvings and also no downloaded images used, (so don’t expect much). If any of that offends you, don’t download. Davy

Andrew,Mark and John, Thanks for your comments.Course i'm only stringing others fine images into an AV. It does make me think about their work and why some images work better than others. Hopefully some of this will help me with own images. Davy
-
Lumenlux, Thanks for your comments. Have tried a couple of times to leave a reply, but they have been lost in the great internet ether. Davy

Don, I forgot to mention the music that was used.It was by Secret Garden and the title...Sometimes when it rains. Nearly missed your link to the George Harrison Vid.(seen Geoff Lynne in there too)Great stuff. David, Some don't like the mixing of verticals and horizontals.I tried portraits without a background, but it did look better to me with the raindrop background.A sort of pseudo landscape that dosen't jar the eyes as much. If I could have had all the pics in landscape that would have been better. Maureen, I might have a few more sad pics of me crying,to add to this AV if the computer packs up. Thanks for all the feedback. Davy
-
David, Spent some time with the images/alignment etc. Mixing landscape and portrait dosn't always work too well, but came up with a raindrop background for the verticals which looked marginally better, but not great. Glad you liked. Ken, Yes,pretty heavy. It's not all sun out there. Davy
