Hi Bill, Glad it worked for you. I didn't know that PTE could be installed on a Mac,so that's good to know. I'm going to have to get one of those fancy monitors now. Davy

All, Just thought I'd slip in this last HD rework of a previous AV. I liked the original 'Mountain Journeys',but not sure how this one will turn out. (Am doing this on a 17" 4:3 monitor) http://www.mediafire.com/?en2igodx00o Mountain Journeys HD PC http://www.mediafire.com/?hqikuqkx3wz Mountain Journeys HD Mac Images, like the original were courtesy of Google. Hi Bernard, Thanks for the comments. There have been some impressive AVs from the Diapositif members. Very knowledgeable and friendly.I'm afraid my limited grasp of French language would let me down,so it would be good of you post a link there for me. regards, Davy

Hi Andrew, Glad you liked em.Wasn't sure how the HD treatment would work,so it's good to know it's an improvement. I am weaning myself off Google.I expect my AVs to take a nose dive Keep your AVs coming. Cheers, Davy

Thanks Maureen, Am looking forward to your Antartica AV.A lakeland Lass production is always a bit special. Just found some old photos from the days of the Linen Mills and the workers.Going back a bit, even before Ken Cox. Not a smiling face in sight. There might be enough for a short AV. Davy

Hi Barry, These AVs are reworks from originals that came courtesy of Google. The photos in Frozen would probably have taken months to capture and a lot of $$$. I know it's cheating and frowned upon, but it has helped me learn about PTE and Photoshop. It also makes me think of what to look for when taking Photographs. I am working with an old 4:3 monitor, but it refuses to die.I want to avoid the cheap TN panel screens,so saving pennies for something better. As a woodworker I usually only see bark as something that is just waste. Wrapping paper for what lies beneath.I thought the different tree bark textures were interesting visually and probably worthy of an AV in their own right. Ideas for AVs sometimes spring from music. What comes in to your head when you hear a piece of music. I match pictures to the sound and not the other way around. For me this is where some good AVs fall down. Although the pace is right, the images and sound are not in sync. Thanks for the comments. Davy

Hi Rick. You are a man of few words, but 'Fantastic' is a great word. Thanks, Davy
-
Mary, Glad you liked the Fractal Worlds AV.I don't have a widescreen monitor, but I recall it worked quite well(at least for me) on a widescreen projector. Thanks for the comments. Davy
-
Bill, Thanks for the comments. That also answers my, 'Does it work on a Mac OK?' Cheers, Davy

Ken, After the stress of sorting out last minute tax returns,I'm in need of some subtle moves and tunes. I do full time work, but only on a part time basis Davy

All, Have reworked 3 previous AVs to HD 1920x1080. http://www.mediafire.com/?mikmaxj4ykm Fractal Worlds HD PC http://www.mediafire.com/?rumyfilnzwo Fractal Worlds HD MAC http://www.mediafire.com/?qnyywzonzmm Frozen HD PC http://www.mediafire.com/?in5tmyzjong Frozen HD MAC http://www.mediafire.com/?omziwyvjnmq What Lies Beneath HD PC http://www.mediafire.com/?m1r1zeqmkdy What Lies Beneath HD MAC Smallish in size from around 16 - 20mb Comments ,good, bad or indifferent are fine by me. This is just a way of killing a few hours. Davy

Maureen, Be grateful if you could stop raising the bar. Great stuff as usual.I'm sure that it would be possible to make an excellent AV out of the photos you have that didn't quite make the cut with this one. Enough said. Davy

Ken and Chris, Got it in one.Yes Popcorn by Hot Butter. An early entry for the Moog. Girls were always good at the string games, crows feet, cats cradle etc. Then they had a game played with the feet, using a 6foot or so loop of rubber bands. This was not for boys though. We just used to make catapults with them. Lots more fun, unless you were on the receiving end. Davy
-
Andrew, Yes forgot to add,it's is horribly pink. The dark glasses don't work for me. It's burned in to the back of my retinas. Davy
-
All Hard to justify posting this up.It isn't even 10meg.Contains no photos.Even the music is synthesized. It's just a sort of cube that jumps around a lot.Well except the end bit were it just stops. The end is definatly the best bit, when it just stops. I hate it already. It's just pointless, annoying and two and a half minutes too long. Put up on Mediafire http://www.mediafire.com/?wbjucniohqj Just be grateful I didn't loop it. Davy

Audiences prefer bells and whistles
coopernatural replied to trailertrash's topic in Slideshows & AV Shows
Hi Andrew, Sounds like there may have been some Eurovision Style political voting going on. Would the 4 chosen AV ers like to have their work scrutinised here? I’m sure we can give them a fair trial. (Roland Freisler style) Your findings back up my thoughts on Judges/selection committees. You were concerned about stirring things up too much with the elderly club members. Now you know what to do next time. Bells, whistles, and to be sure...The odd bribe Keep the shows coming. Davy -
Mark, Thanks for the heads up with that file hosting link.I will chase this up. As you suggested have removed a few pics to slow things down a tad.Would need to change soundtrack to go further,so don't want to have to do that just yet. New PC version http://www.mediafire.com/?ylt3yymqdnu New MAC version http://www.mediafire.com/?mydygj4zzdu I don't have much interest in competitions or photographic societies, and don't get me started about Judges Davy

Hi Mark, Not sure what was up as I couldn't download the PC version myself,so I deleted it and put it back up again. I have ammended the URL in my original post to http://www.mediafire.com/?ylt3yymqdnu for the PC version. Mediafire has played up a couple of times, but it is for free.It probably has a poor performance score in the file hosting world.I don't know enough about the subject so advice is always welcome. Cheers, Davy

Hi Bill, Thank you for the positive comments. It's no big thing to do a Mac version on the PC with PTE now. I don't have a Mac,so good to know it ran ok.I was not aware of the popularity of Macs. Had linked an earlier AV to friends on a mainly American Forum and was suprised at the high number of Mac downloads. Having worked at the Somme in France,I was able to see first hand the scale of the carnage. From the battlefields to the lines of graves to the devastated families at home. All a million miles away from the romantic/heroic notions portrayed in films. Sadly this was not the war to end all wars. Davy

Hi John, I usually hit the escape button with large downloads,so appreciate you downloading this and watching. Thanks for the comments. Davy
-
Ken, Glad it worked.I don't have a widescreen monitor, but I put this up for you high flyer types. Davy

All, Being ‘snowed in’, I took the opportunity to redo an old AV in HD 1920x1080. ‘The Great War’ No Google alert, as I own these Photos. I re-worked some of the photos and gave them a more subtle sepia tone. I thought the change of format might spoil things, but I think it actually helped. Not small, weighing in around the 50 meg mark and lasting around 5.5 minutes. Not family viewing either, as there are some pics of those who did not survive. Have posted a PC and Mac version on mediafire. PC version http://www.mediafire.com/?ylt3yymqdnu Mac version http://www.mediafire.com/?mydygj4zzdu Davy

G'Day John, Not everyone approves, but good to hear from those that do. Thanks for the comments. Davy
-
Andrew, Well done, enjoyed that. Don't have a 16:9 widescreen, but it filled my ......imagination. One change I would make .....is to put me down as having made that AV. Davy

Gary, Images were courtesy of Google! All I burnt was my feet, but that was on a radiator at home Davy
