  1. Thanks Lin Yes this is a great step towards giving us the manual mouse/keyboard control we are used to in v.4.8 - BUT when reversing back through the show the chosen transitions disappear and only the 'cut' is used. Will we get to a truly manual 'forward and reverse' control WITH TRANSITIONS? Let's hope so - I see this as an important feature which I use a lot and would be very disappointed if it was not to be restored. DEN (NE UK)
  2. Al Yes you're right of course - using 'stop at end of this slide' applied to all works a treat. How could I doubt you!! DEN (NE UK)
  3. Al The method you describe doesn't seem to work - there's seems no way to get rid of the slide timing default of 4 secs, but maybe I'm missing something. Lin's suggestion of a long time interval (say 5mins) works OK but the manual click back doesn't use the preferred transition - just a quick 'cut' (not very aesthetic). Is there a reason behind this behaviour and do we know if Igor is planning to reinstate the manual operation of v.4x? DEN (NE UK)
  4. You're more than welcome Igor. DEN (NE UK)
  5. Dave Granot our utility writing expert has a small installer which, using an 'AutoRun' instruction will install your screensaver file onto a hard drive automatically from a CD. This way the recipient of the screensaver doesn't need to know how or where to manually install it. Take a look here: http://www.thailandphotoalbum.com/ Scroll down for 'Install Screensaver'. The Readme.txt file explains all. I think you'll find this a good way to distribute screensavers on disc. DEN (NE UK)
  6. Thanks Lin for that re-assurance! He deserves to rest up, and I'm sure the mountain & sea air will do him good. We owe him a great deal. DEN (NE UK)
  7. I'm very conscious that we haven't heard from Igor recently. I know he reported that his health was poor some weeks ago (due I would guess to his magnificent efforts on our behalf), and that he had been advised to take things easy. Has anyone any news? - I'm sure he is watching out for us. DEN (NE UK)
  8. Igor and Team What can we say that hasn't already been said? Two years of hard work have been rewarded by the best of all the presentation software now available. A great gift to us all and (I hope) a most rewarding product for you at WnSoft. It's been a long wait but it is worth the wait many times over CONGRATULATIONS ! DEN (NE UK)
  9. Peter It can be done this way most effectively. I use Free Video Studio Decompiler to split an avi into single jpg frames and then input into PTE as Mike has said. The difference between this and 'real' video is almost unoticeable if you get the timings right. Yes it does produce rather a lot of slides to manipulate ( thank goodness for batch processing!) - the last show I used this technique produced over 2,500 individual slides with a correspondingly large .exe file size ! Until video clips can be routinely added to a PTE project this seems the simplest way to do it. Google for the software and give it a try. DEN (NE UK)
  10. This is a valid question - one that has also crossed my mind. The default menus are fine but really the ability to generate a custom menu with own branding etc would be the ideal. All Mike is asking - "Can I produce my own DVD Menu" without another workaround? DEN (NE UK)
  11. Hi Ron I use the template system in the default location, but also back this up onto CD/DVD as required. I have considered moving the templates to another location on my drive(s) but once I became use to finding it where it is - no problem. I also always keep a separate folder for each AV which contains the template and different versions and alternative audio files and related materials which may be useful if revising the production at a later date. DEN (NE UK)
  12. [ ] Display each slide for Am I following this right? Did Igor say we could expect this feature to be restored in beta 14? We now have beta 17 as a release candidate and still I can see no checkbox to disable slide timings as in v.4.48. Is this likely to appear or are we resigned to using workarounds as discussed in this topic - seems a bit illogical ! Sorry to raise the point again, but it may just slip out of sight as we get closer to final release. DEN (NE UK)
  13. Sounds good to me ! DEN (NE UK)
  14. Apologies if I seem to have sabotaged the original poster's query, and sorry if this topic should appear elsewhere but I just wanted to highlight once again the apparent need for a definitive help guide to PTE for those not so 'savvy' or forum literate. Jeff - what you suggest is, I think, just what's needed when v5 is released. Nothing in great depth but broad in its coverage of the many menu and other functions we now find before us. There are many great tutorials existing which cover specifics of interest and yes it is a seriously time consuming activity but one which would be appreciated by many beyond this forum. I do hope the challenge is taken up. DEN (NE UK)
  15. Well I may be sticking my neck out, but here goes - Here we have another example of someone wanting to return to PTE but sees that things have changed. With version 5 comes a whole new way of using the application. I've been following the developments closely, but not adding much to the discussion I'm afraid, and feel myself just a little unsure of the new/altered commands we now have at our disposal. Despite the insistance expressed in this forum by those thoroughly 'up to speed' with the application that the forum is the best source of knowledge and advice, it's my experience that ordinary folk who come to PTE are put off by its apparent complexity and lack of any real help files, and are not in the habit of logging on to a forum to ask what may be very simple and basic questions. I'm sure that it'll be the case that someone will, or collectively we can provide a definitive guide to PTE somehow. There have been several attempts at providing such a comprehensive guide over the development of v.5 which have been very well received, but maybe it's now the time to really get to grips with it. I hope I haven't re-opened a can of worms on this topic but I feel it has to be said. DEN (NE UK)
  16. Great news !! At last - everything I've been waiting for, especially 'Run Apps..' What can I say? Simply, congratulations to Igor and his WnSoft team of wonderfully talented people. Now it's up to us all to develop the use of PTE as the first-choice presentation software that it will be shortly when the release is made. Thanks once again to you all. DEN (NE UK)
  17. Thanks for the quick response Igor - I can wait ! DEN (NE UK)
  18. I can create and install a screensaver made in beta 9 OK, and it pops up after the pre-arranged time, but it refuses to exit when cursor is moved. Is this feature fully initiallised yet, or am I doing something wrong? - it all works fine from SS's made in v4.48. DEN (NE UK)
  19. Ron That's exactly what I meant ! To run new shows from a main menu, which I have been doing for years just like many other users of PTE ! A short wait is no problem. DEN (NE UK)
  20. Igor Am I understanding from what you say that beta 9 will not have the ability to launch other applications / .exe files for menus etc? I can live with a further short wait for almost complete restoration of v4.48 and a whole lot of extra goodies as well! Well done to all at Wnsoft. DEN (NE UK)
  21. Igor What can we say - but THANKS !! We've all been patiently waiting, and it looks like we need to just wait a few days more. Soon all will be possible ! DEN (NE UK)
  22. Hi John Also using current v4.48, in the timeline, you can right-click on the slide you wish to replace and click 'replace main image'; then doubleclick your chosen replacement. It will be inserted in the same position and take over the attributes of the image you have removed. All things are possible! Welcome to the forum. DEN (NE UK)
  23. Hi there Lin It's been said by all previous posters, but just to add my sincere wishes for a speedy end to your vision problems. I can't imagine not being able to read for more than a few seconds, let alone not be at the computer. Take care and we all look forward to your words of wisdom and enlightenment here in the forum agin very soon! kind regards DEN (NE UK)
  24. Hi Fred I've used a FREE video decompiler : Video Studio Decompiler v.3.0 from www.softwarepile.com It seems to do just what you need - With Video Studio Decompiler you can decompile one of the following video formats: AVI,MPEG,MPG,ASF,WMV to one of the following image formats: BMP,GIF,PNG,JPEG,TIFF,EMF,WMF,PCX,TGA,j2k,RAS It should do what you want to do, FREE and very fast too! Take a look! DEN (NE UK)
  25. Thanks Misterk I'll take a look at the Mipro MA-101 - did you go for the wireless mike? - seems to fit the bill but would appreciate any other offerings from forum members with camera club/lecture PA experience. I can't seem to find the 'sound advice' on Maureen's new look site. although I do remember seeing some useful stuff there some time ago. Thanks again DEN (NE UK)
