  1. Eric / Peter It's not difficult to use an image from a show as the .exe icon (as seen on the Desktop). I have set up a PS action to simplify the process to prepare 32x32 and/or 64x64 personalised icons for use with PTE, but you need the ICOFormat.8bi file installed in the PS Plug-Ins\File Formats folder in order to save the resulting image file in .ico format. It adds a certain added dimension to the finished .exe package. Here is the PS action and the .8bf file zipped. Try it! IconsAction.zip
  2. Another simple use I find for a frame is to add a transparent box over any area of a background slide in order to program a clickable action (run slideshow, application etc) Quick and easy!
  3. Stu No I've not tested on another monitor but I will do so, and yes it seems more apparent using white text against light background colours. Maybe this is why I've not been too aware of the effect before. Obviously the faster the fade out the less apparent the effect is. Xaver I tend to go with your explanation - using png text generated in PS gets over this 'problem' but is not ideal. Barry I have attached a small PTE project file which shows the effect. This isn't a major worry, more a minor annoyance. Text&DropShadow.zip
  4. Whilst dropping the opacity of some white text with a drop shadow to zero (and back again)on a slide, I find the dark colour of the shadow background seems to remain present after the text colour has gone - revealing the text shape as grey before both actually fade to zero opacity. This is a little distracting as I would expect the whole text object (text & shadow) to fade together. I have had to resort to Photoshop to get me out of this one - but with the added inclusion of many additional slides to acomplish what should be simply possible within PTE. It would be a useful amendment/addition to any new version, to have the drop shadow opacity consistent with the text. Or is it all an optical illusion?
  5. Peter It sure is cold around us here isn't it! No problems on my screen - and the powerlines seem fine too.
  6. Igor What can we say? It's just incredible the way PTE surges on, maintaining its position by far as the top software for Av! Many many thanks to you and your team. Take a rest now!
  7. Dave Yes of course dear boy! Simple maths.
  8. Eric If you created the show with 1024x768 images and ticked the 'Fixed size of show' box then it will always run at your chosen resolution, regardless of the size of monitor it's shown on - hence the 1024x768 show will leave a 256pixel 'black box' around it on your 1280x1024 monitor.
  9. Hi APLman and welcome to the forum. Why not sort and arrange your images directly in PTE? As suggested above, drag all the images you need into the slide list ( in horizontal or classic view to see thumbnails), then click the icon extreme bottom right of screen - this opens a lightbox where you can arrange your images - then <close> to return to slide view and all images are in the PTE project in your desired order.
  10. Neat trick Barry So how long was it in the freezer for, and did you try it out still 'frozen' or when defrosted?
  11. Adding text either via the main comment box/template or via the O&A (with font/colour/size/line spacing adjustments) is what we have available to us at present and works in most cases. I agree that to keep amending the carriage returns is cumbersome but I guess that the usual amount of text used on a slide is generally not that great. You seem to have the exception Gary. This is what we are subjected to in Photoshop also so maybe I'm used to manually manipulating the text lines, but it would be good to have a word wrap capability, also justified text (at the moment we are offered left/centre/right alignment only). Maybe someone is watching?
  12. Point taken! I now know how to report such matters - I stand contrite.
  13. We don't want the forum to become a dumping ground for 'cheap software' offers do we? It's all over the site.
  14. Eric Most of these presenters are 'much of a muchness' and, as with most reviews, a bad experience colours the tone of the input. All I can say is, for the price, this unit seems (so far) to perform as expected. Any other make or model could/would be just as suitable.
  15. Geoff I have just recently bought such a presenter which does all I need to control a manual show. See here: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Targus-AMP02EU-Wir...;qid=1242214130 It is lower priced than the one you referenced, (with free delivery of course!) but it's also slightly lower spec'd ( no volume or timer alert) but it does all I want it to do. Take a look if you've not done so yet.
  16. Got it! Thanks Xaver DEN (NE UK)
  17. Anyone care to walk us through the button text 'hover' colour change routine? DEN (NE UK)
  18. Thanks Xaver and Peter Xaver I suspected this would be the case - and it does work, gets me back to the slide I want OK. Peter I really needed to get back to the following slide to the one launching the show2.exe. It's not a two page menu but one slide (in a show) with two optional shows to launch from it, but I didn't want to go back to this launch slide - just to another slide in the same show. Onward & Upwards DEN (NE UK)
  19. Is there a way I can do a 'Run Slideshow and return' from O&A BUT to a different slide than the one launching the second show? I can't see a straightforward way to achieve this - if it is at all possible! I'm compiling a menu and don't want to return to the original menu slide (the next one in the sequence is the one I want). Any thoughts anyone? DEN (NE UK)
  20. Sincere wishes, Lin, for your wife's speedy recovery to full health again. Your priorities lie with her at this time - but I'm sure you'll keep an eye on us all as we discuss and deliberate PTE. Your invaluable support will be missed. DEN (NE UK)
  21. Lin I can confirm that in 5.5 the 'hand icon' appears when mousing over text, frames, rectangles and images but not buttons. In 5.6 - NOTHING! I see no real logic here as (in my previous post) how is a remote user to find the clickable hot spots, images or text to run the sequence as intended? I look forward to Igor's take on this one! DEN (NE UK)
  22. I would also agree with both Tony and Ian, and reply here to keep the post live and hope that Igor has not overlooked what seems to be an annoying loss of a feature. When the show is passed beyond the control of the author then how is the recipient to find the clickable objects or hot spots??? DEN (NE UK)
  23. Eric The only slight downside of this method is that the 'backwards' transition is always a 'cut' - so any fades or other transitions used to advance the show are lost when putting in into reverse! DEN (NE UK)
  24. John/Barry (sounds like a composer from the 60s) I use an H2 and the quality from location recordings is, to my ear, fine. One needs to be careful with positioning and handling noise (poor add-on grip) but nothing to worry about. A run through Audacity/Audition is all that's needed to get the best from the files produced. I would assume that the H4 can produce even better quality - given the price difference. DEN (NE UK)
  25. What can we say? Only that it gets even better. PTE must now rank as the premier AV software available, with all these new and useful features - also the unseen behind the scenes improvements that we don't readily appreciate. What we do appreciate is the incredible hard work and dedication of the Wnsoft team in providing us all with the means to deliver top quality presentations, and the ability to export them to the various other media available in today's world of mass communication. We thank you. DEN (NE UK)
