  1. Totally agree, Bill. What a boon it is to have such knowlegable advice available on this site plus I learn something from nearly every show I look at.
  2. Hi Gary, I thoroughly enjoyed your show and I didn't find the slight technical problems detracted from the whole thing. There were some really good shots especially of the waterfalls. A couple of points:- 1)Perhaps you could have been a bit more ruthless in chopping out some of the photos and then increased the screen time of the others. 2)I think there were too many "holiday snap" photos showing your partner looking at the camera. If you want to include her why not have her, say, sitting on a rock looking at the view. Then do another show for family viewing.
  3. I am with Peter on this! A little ribbing is fine but I'm shocked at the level to which this has sunk. I think some apologies would be in order.
  4. Hi Andrew, The show downloaded in 15 secs and was running within 40secs using your direct link. Thought the music was first class although I may have got it a bit out of sync by using the keyboard control to jerk into action after the intro slide.
  5. Peter, well done on your replies. I think it correct that we should know the law regarding copyright after all we would all be a bit put out if we saw someone else using our stuff without permission or at least recognition. Yes, for what we do on this site nobody is going to take us to court but I still try to use copyright free music when I can. When I have used copyright music and put it on Youtube, they pick it up straight away but say is is okay to view and put an advert up front, so that's fine. On this site it is a bit like showing it to your family so we get away with it.
  6. I really enjoyed the show Mark, especially the black and white photos. Two lessons to be learned from your show - 1)get up early, 2) think B&W before taking the photo.
  7. Hi Bill, I take your point, and I guess (but don't know) that the fact that my little site has a tiny fraction of the stuff on it compared with yours, then that might make a difference in speed. I was just suggesting that if people have their own site, why not use it. I look forward to seeing many more A/V's on your site. Best,
  8. Very pleasant and relaxing - especially when viewed from the warmth of my Study! I am going to follow your lead and try some longer fades on my next effort.
  9. Hi Gary, I thought your show was wonderful as reminder to you of your great holiday and also to show family and friends. I did find it a bit overlong especially without any commentary plus there were quite a number of superfluous shots that didn't add anything to get the feel of the place. To counter that it seemed to me that the pace of the slides speeded up and they didn't remain on screen for long enough to appreciate them. I did like the route map though and I have been trying to do something similar for a boat journey. I have done it so far with a series of dots and I suppose I could put the dots closer together to form a line but this will take me forever. Is there a quick way of doing it. Hope you don't think I'm being cheeky.
  10. I would appreciate your views on this show. i have always thought of A/V's as being a platform for showcasing my photos but now am concerned that the tail is wagging the dog. Your views as to my future direction would be helpful. PC Download Mac Download
  11. A nice relaxing show but not too relaxing as I stayed awake throughout. Well done.
  12. Brilliant indoor photography in what must have been really difficult lighting with some excellent post prodution. I also liked your use of your transitions. When the music started I thought the show was going to last around 13 minutes, the length of the original music, especially as it was quite a large file. As this is one of my favaurite pieces of music I was quite sad when it finished early. It was a perfect piece for your show and I confirm it was written by Allegri.
  13. Hi Ronnie, Downloaded your show from Mediafire without a problem. Enjoyed it much more without the frames, again great photos. Never had any problems with Mediafire except when Virgin Media stopped talking to them but now is all okay. I have my own website and my a/v's can be downloaded from the site and it is much quicker than Mediafire or Bill's site. Don't understand the technical aspects or why you should not upload your A/v's to your site and give members the URL so they can download from there. Thanks for your tutorials, which I shall acknowledge on your web site Mickp
  14. Hi Ronnie, I have to be honest, I did not think the actual frame used added anything to your excellent photos, plus watching it go in and out of screen distracted attention away from the photos. I think I would have discarded the frame, maybe relying on a simple narrow white border, used the same movements but brought the next photo into part of the screen before the previous one disappeared completely. This way we would not be left staring at a blank space. Just my view but hope it is of some help. Mickp.
  15. Great sounds David and the pictures that go with them give a good insight as to how the sounds can be used. I will certainly try to make use of them in my next effort and will let you know. Mickp
  16. A superb and informative show, the eight minutes just seem to fly by. How on earth did they manage to work out all those processes to produce the end result? Mickp
  17. Hi Roger, I did use Highlights/shadow but more to bring out detail in the dark areas which was more of a problem, I thought, than the highlights. Not sure I understand your "two pictures" technique but I found I was using upto ISO 1200 and was still thankful I had Image stabilised lens. I will do more NT properties in September when kids are back at school. Mickp
  18. Thanks very much for your comments. I'll have a look at the blown out areas in the raw images and see if I can improve them. Mickp.
  19. The latest in a series on National Trust properties in the South East of England. This one has a few more PTE "tweeks". Comments would be appreciated. Mickp PC - My link MAC - My link
  20. I agree with Maureen. This would make an ideal, hands on experience, in the Regiment's Library or whatever display centre they have. Mickp
  21. Lovely castles and brilliantly photographed. I must go back to Scotland but the last time it rained. I didn't like the music much, found it a bit monotonous and tempo didn't fit well I thought. Also could the captions have stayed in one place especially when they were of the same castle? Otherwise a great show. Mickp
  22. A first rate show with a good mix of photos, downloads, music, voiceovers and transitions. Also just the right length to get a feel for his life story. Just a little criticism - for me the 3D swaps were a little quick but otherwise I shall add this show to my knowledge bank on producing good A/V's Mickp.
  23. Quote from Trailrtrah on your Dolomites thread -"I think your probably the best photographer I have seen in many a long year. I tip my hat to you." I heartily concur and this latest show only goes to emphasise the point. Mickp
  24. Some, no not some but many, great candid shots and superb camera angles. To get these camera angles in the hurly-burly of a wedding shows great imagination and a quick eye. The slideshow could have done without the titles I thought and relied on fading to black. If anybody asks me to do a wedding, I refuse but say I'll take the video - much easier. Mickp
  25. Hi David, Good hook "probably only has minority appeal", that's bound to get the show viewed. Not my sort of photography or music but I do admire the techniques involved and found it quite mesmeric. Mickp
